I've been searching around trying to find an answer for this and have come up empty- I'm currently on a TW debloated/debinged/deodexed Froyo, with the last kernel update installed over it (EC10?). Is there an ED05 kernel available I can install directly over this ROM to fix the missed calls issue without doing a full ROM install? I don't seem to see anyone suggesting this, but that's what I did last time (which if I recall was primarily a first [failed] attempt by Verizon to fix the missed calls issue).
Can I do this again? If so, care to point me to the proper link/thread? I did see a passing reference somewhere that the kernel was now based off of 2.2.2 rather than 2.2.1, so perhaps that makes it more complicated?
I'm happy enough with my current setup I don't want to change it, but my wife tells me every couple of days she tried to call me again and my phone never rang...
Thanks for any help

So I can install that and nothing else w/ no issue? I was wondering if that was the one.

Dumb question, if I want to try the UV settings, do I need Set CPU or is there another way already somewhere?

PBJT kernel doesn't support changing clocks/voltages. You need OTB for that but there is no ED05 OTB kernel available.

Well I was all happy that this seemed to go well, but in the past day it's frozen up several times, and also turned itself off 4 or 5 times. I've cleared the dalvik cache a couple of times but that apparently isn't enough...
I see myself heading down the rabbit-hole and needing to change ROMs
Anything I can try? I did noticed in CWM that I had an "error reading volume, partition not found (/sd-ext)", (approximate paraphrase, it was awhile ago) but would this be expected for the non-voodoo kernel?
Thanks for any help.

Did you clear the dalvik before installing the pbj kernal?
Also its recomended to install the kernal right after the rom....
three finger into cwm
Wipe cache/dalvik
install powerwash v1 rom (I recomend to try this!)
install kernal
reboot

Awesome job Geeknik, quick question:
If we wanted to get back to stock, how would we go about that? Is there a kernel removal method? Flash stock kernel? If so, where can I find the stock kernel? Thanks and sorry for the trouble.
Does any one know why, I just flashed 1.76 and now maps fc. Also what to do about it?

Try uninstalling and installing again maps.apk?
I'm having GPS issues on 1.76, even after 5 minutes of standing outside in a open area the GPS will never fully lock. My GPS locks within seconds when using 1.54 so it is def something going on with the 1.76 kernel. Let me know if I can help you debug this further.

Ok, so we can just flash the kernel without wiping? Do we need DJ05?
After we flash, can we still do Nandroid and restore Nandroid?
How easy is it to remove the kernel and would it require wiping?
I've heard nothing but good things about these kernels...really eager to try one out and finally improve battery life.

I dont think you NEED dj05, but that is the biggest improvement for battery life I have found. The 1.54 and 1.76 kernels were made for dj05 and im sure work best with it. The first one is for di01 and should not be used if you have dj05. But stupid fast is stupid fast and thank you geeknik for your work. As far as wiping, I think it is a good idea to wipe everytime some times twice to get rid of the klinging on things.

There seems to be a bit of confusion on what recovery we should be using. Most threads indicate CWM 3.x
This post is often referenced as the most current recovery for our needs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13128524&postcount=1
It can be seen being referenced here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14892705&postcount=1
Then there is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14940474&postcount=202
I have not seen many references to CWM 4.x recovery. Is this for gingerbread roms?
Please understand I am not trying to "shake the bees nest" or anything. I just want to make sure we are doing things correctly. I have been doing some research since the above post was made and have come up with conflicting resulsts, looking for clarification. Thanks.

I just don't understand how we could be snipped at for not using CMR 4.x when it is not even on his own recovery page (or widely referenced anywhere else).

I guess I'd have to look into it but I didn't know of any major differences such as those between CWM2 and 3. So I don't know why it would be a huge deal to use CWM3 if I figure anything out I'll post.
CWM 3.0 may be responsible (but probably isn't) for the sd cards being borked by some of those who've flashed the EC09 GB leak or the early ROMs based on it. That might be why times_infinity made his dinosaur post. That said, it's more likely that the SD card issue is strictly an EC09 issue having nothing to do with which recovery you use. I suggest going on IRC to find your answers (I think either #samsungfascinate or #teamsbrissenmod or maybe #tsm).

I put the TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom on my Fascinate, and then installed the Glitch v1.4 beta 5 kernel. Found that my 3G no longer would connect. I looked through the dev thread, and in post #5 saw, "Signal won't work, this kernel is GSM, your fascinate is CDMA" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459530&highlight=glitch+v14)
That sounds pretty definitive that you can't use this Glitch kernel with the Fascinate, yet I could have sworn I've read about others using it. Am I misunderstanding something here?

Humph. That certainly makes sense, given that the Glitch thread is in the Fascinate forums...but why did someone say there's a CDMA vs GSM problem?
Lemme try reinstalling it, after first doing another Nandroid backup.

Groan...I'll have to put off starting over for a bit; I don't have time right now to set up everything again. And I'm a bit worried about "reactivate your current device" since, per my other thread, I'm unable to get a dial pad when calling *228.
the problem is you flashed the glitch b4 for 6.0 instead of the b4 6.1 version. If you read my guide it clearly states which version to flash. Also that link you posted is for the TELUS Fascinate NOT the Verizon Fascinate...
Well, I flashed with the b5 for 6.1 version, and while the 3G worked, I ended up with the unable-to-Nandroid-backup bug. Since the only remedy I could find (clear the cache and Dalvik) didn't help, I've gone back to the kernel that came with TeamHackSung ICS. I'll keep an eye posted to see if future Glitch versions manage to fix the backup bug. Thanks for all the help.

Yes, thanks, someone told me that on another thread. To summarize:
To activate phone or update roaming without a keypad:
*22890 ---> This will program/activate your phone.
*22891 ---> This will update your roaming capabilities.
No need to hit other buttons after dialing. Let it finish, and reboot your phone.
You can also try dialing star 228 and then hit the menu button and add 8 or 10 2-second pause to it... It will look like this: *228,,,,,,,,,1

You don't really "need" the bootloaders before flashing glitch, but you should definitely have them to minimize any issues. Also, if you like BLN, I would flash B4 as opposed to B5, it's not working quite right on the latest beta.

Read here and here and then choose which is best for you.
This is an old issue with Passion and had been discussed in that thread many months ago. I am sure if you searched the thread, the answer would have *eventually* pooped up but with that many posts, it would take all day to do so.
That being said, Passion is extremely outdated (still 4.0.3) and I suggest upgrading to a different ROM (4.0.4 variant). There was vast improvements from Google with the newer version, plus Passion isn't really supported anymore.

Yes and no. You can preserve you app data, browser links, SMS/MMS, Launcher Setting,...through Titanium Backup and then restore the DATA part later. I capped that so as to warn you not to restore the /system/apk (only restore the data on the Green highlighted /system/apps in TBPro).
Yes I did link you to the I9000 section bc those are what you want. All it is is a script that converts your /data/data to /datadata. AKAIK, all the newr ICS ROMs already do this, hence why I suggested you get out of the outdated ROM. ICZen does this on install already btw>
Thanks.
And to confirm, I would only have to install the ICZen ROM right? It states that the subzero kernel is included. ( I saw your name on there, so I thought I'd ask)
Yes it is included. Install instructions are similar to most every other ICS ROM out there except for the additional WIPE.
Steps
-Download ICZen and place it on your internal sd
-Reboot to Clockwork Recovery
-Perform a wipedata/factory reset
-Go to mounts and storage and format the system partition
-Flash your downloaded ICZ rom file
-From the main menu of recovery, perform a wipedata/factory reset again <--THIS IS THE SECOND WIPE I AM TALKING ABOUT
-Reboot
-On bootup, give it a few minutes to settle in, reboot and use as normal.
-Enjoy your ICZen!
