Thanks man, you kernels are my favorite.
To everyone wonder, he did fix the audio popping as well.
Awesome job Geeknik, quick question:
If we wanted to get back to stock, how would we go about that? Is there a kernel removal method? Flash stock kernel? If so, where can I find the stock kernel? Thanks and sorry for the trouble.
Does any one know why, I just flashed 1.76 and now maps fc. Also what to do about it?

Try uninstalling and installing again maps.apk?
I'm having GPS issues on 1.76, even after 5 minutes of standing outside in a open area the GPS will never fully lock. My GPS locks within seconds when using 1.54 so it is def something going on with the 1.76 kernel. Let me know if I can help you debug this further.

It is for the newer voodoo5 kernels. Older voodoo kernels it is hit or miss.

Ok, so we can just flash the kernel without wiping? Do we need DJ05?
After we flash, can we still do Nandroid and restore Nandroid?
How easy is it to remove the kernel and would it require wiping?
I've heard nothing but good things about these kernels...really eager to try one out and finally improve battery life.

I dont think you NEED dj05, but that is the biggest improvement for battery life I have found. The 1.54 and 1.76 kernels were made for dj05 and im sure work best with it. The first one is for di01 and should not be used if you have dj05. But stupid fast is stupid fast and thank you geeknik for your work. As far as wiping, I think it is a good idea to wipe everytime some times twice to get rid of the klinging on things.

If you use a dj05 kernel with a di01 rom, you'll lose haptic.
I'm using his most recent stable, runs great and battery life is much improved.

Finally,
The moment all of you have been waiting for. DL09 has been officially released. Well, by us anyway.
What does it fix? I have no idea!
I extracted it, and:
-Doedexed
-Zipaligned
-De-Binged (save browser default search)
-De-bloated
-Includes busybox 1.19 compiled by me, that can ping by FQDN.
-Rooted, of course.
I also edited the sound when you touch the screeen. If you don't like it, the old copy can be reverted back. Its in system/media/audio/ui. Attached is a cwm patch to revert to the old sound. Takes like 5 seconds to run, tops.
Note:
-Maps is not included, it must be downloaded from the market.
Is it an official update? No. Will it ever see the light of day? Quite possibly. Will it void your warranty? Definitely. Is it worth it? Maybe.
You need to be rooted to install this update and have access to clockworkmod. Data wipe is essential. Voodoo needs to be REMOVED PROPERLY prior to installing this update. All parts should be installed, or things will stop working...such as haptic feedback, and sms. DJ05 and DL09 radios appear to be interchangeable, but heavy testing has not been conducted.
There are three parts.
Radio:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/DL09modem.tar
This gets flashed via Odin, in the PDA section.
System/rom:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/DL09_2.zip
Mirrors:
www.eleazar.org/Adrynalyne/DL09_2.zip
http://www.4shared.com/file/gNKnCuua/DL09_2.html
Torrent Mirror:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6077375
This gets flashed via clockwork.
Kernel:
Non-voodoo
http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/1230_NON_voodoo.zip
Voodoo:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/roms/1230_Voodoo.zip
Note- Both of these kernels are similar to my previous test kernels, except they include boot animations. They are undervolted, and based of of jt1134's source on github. DJ05 kernels will work fine for DL09, but you should supply your own boot animation if you do not use one of the above. The stock boot animation does not work very well.
https://github.com/adrynalyne
These get flashed via clockwork.
Thats it. For those who want the unclean, dirty, and sucky experience of full stock: http://gunsforgeeks.com/Fascinate/DL09_stock.zip
Bloated, rooted, odexed, and has busybox.
Some notes:
Do not flash anything made for DI01 or DJ05 with DL09. You are asking for stupid things to happen.
DO flash stuff made for DL09, if you can find it.
This is not froyo, its 2.1, but a bugfix to hold us over.
No warranty given, implied, or anything else. You are on your own!
I apologize if glitches are found, not a lot of testing was conducted.
Thanks:
All the devs on IRC, and the original leaker, god rest his soul (we buried his bones after picking him clean after the DJ05 leak).
Do you prefer this over the DJ05?

Here's my situation. When I first unlocked and rooted, I made a nandroid backup of the stock, pre ota Rom. I then installed ineffabilis 1.0 and made a backup of that. I'm currently on Nils ICS Rom but I need to restore to one of my gb backups. I'm using amon ra.
I tried restoring both of my backups with the same results. They seem to restore with no errors but I get stuck at a blank screen after the splash screen. I can only restore to my ICS backup.
So I tried it a couple more times, this time restoring the backup then flashing the 1.02 kernel. But I still get the same results, a blank screen after the splash screen. I don't see any errors, no main version is older garbage. It just doesn't work. I've read every thread I can find and just don't know what to do to restore a gb Rom.
I finally tried just a fresh install of ineffabilis gb and got the same thing.
Any ideas?

I think you may need to flash a GB kernel after installing the GB ROM (or restoring your backup). My understanding is the ICS ROMS require a different kernal, and the GB ROMS don't overwrite it automatically. there's a pretty good thread stickied in the Dev section that has links to several kernels.

That shouldn't affect getting the ROM on there though. It only affected my wifi.
Silver, I was able to both restore my GB Ineffabilis nand and flash it fresh after OTA. Don't know why you are having trouble.

I'm trying to put a better ROM on my wife's GT-I9100M I really just want something which much better battery life and speed for her... mostly battery life though.
With so many different kernels out there, I'm a little wary of installing something now, in case it'll brick the phone. Does it matter what kernel these roms are based on?
Her baseband is I9100MUGKG2
and her kernel is 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKG2-CL361136 [email protected] #6
and build number is

Well. So far so good. She hasn't really noticed anything different. In spite of my backing things up with titanium she's still swearing at it and setting some of her stuff back up.

How do you find the right rom ? You try out a bunch of roms until you find one that works well for you. If you think you're going to have the same experience as someone else with a given rom or kernel you're mistaken.

+1 Pretty much nailed it. Won't know how good a rom is until you try it out yourself.
The problem is, not every rom for samsung GT 9100 seem to be the right ones... What I'm saying is, I can't just grab any ROM from this site and slap it in, it seems like they have to have the right kernel or combination of stuff to work. I don't want to soft brick it, so it would be nice to know exactly what would be safe for my phone.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to these roms.
I put the TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom on my Fascinate, and then installed the Glitch v1.4 beta 5 kernel. Found that my 3G no longer would connect. I looked through the dev thread, and in post #5 saw, "Signal won't work, this kernel is GSM, your fascinate is CDMA" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459530&highlight=glitch+v14)
That sounds pretty definitive that you can't use this Glitch kernel with the Fascinate, yet I could have sworn I've read about others using it. Am I misunderstanding something here?

Humph. That certainly makes sense, given that the Glitch thread is in the Fascinate forums...but why did someone say there's a CDMA vs GSM problem?
Lemme try reinstalling it, after first doing another Nandroid backup.
Is the kernel that comes with TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom available, so that I don't have to fuss with Nandroid if I need to revert from Glitch?
just reflash the rom but dont wipe data.
Nope...got the same result. No 3G access.

Groan...I'll have to put off starting over for a bit; I don't have time right now to set up everything again. And I'm a bit worried about "reactivate your current device" since, per my other thread, I'm unable to get a dial pad when calling *228.
the problem is you flashed the glitch b4 for 6.0 instead of the b4 6.1 version. If you read my guide it clearly states which version to flash. Also that link you posted is for the TELUS Fascinate NOT the Verizon Fascinate...
Well, I flashed with the b5 for 6.1 version, and while the 3G worked, I ended up with the unable-to-Nandroid-backup bug. Since the only remedy I could find (clear the cache and Dalvik) didn't help, I've gone back to the kernel that came with TeamHackSung ICS. I'll keep an eye posted to see if future Glitch versions manage to fix the backup bug. Thanks for all the help.

S'pose that's a workaround, although it makes the noob in me a bit nervous to keep flashing part of the OS like that.
Plus, despite having read the feature list, I'm still not clear just what switching to Glitch does for me.

Glitch gives you the ability to overclock up to 1500mhz... also in call audio is clear and alot more crisp than the stock kernel...the bug where you have to always adjust the volume down on every call is fixed aswell. I also like the glitch recovery alot better...you can wipe cache and dalvik at the same time.

Do you think there's any chance that these changes to the recovery have something to do with the Nandroid backup problem?

There is a problem with a partition not being mounted. And is being looked at. Find out more info in the glitch v14 thread in development.. For now just do a backup with the b3 kernel then flash back to b5

Yes, thanks, someone told me that on another thread. To summarize:
To activate phone or update roaming without a keypad:
*22890 ---> This will program/activate your phone.
*22891 ---> This will update your roaming capabilities.
No need to hit other buttons after dialing. Let it finish, and reboot your phone.
You can also try dialing star 228 and then hit the menu button and add 8 or 10 2-second pause to it... It will look like this: *228,,,,,,,,,1
Hey guys, do you need the gingerbread boot loader before going to glitch? I can't find them in the vanilla ROM post.

Here ya go.
You don't really "need" the bootloaders before flashing glitch, but you should definitely have them to minimize any issues. Also, if you like BLN, I would flash B4 as opposed to B5, it's not working quite right on the latest beta.

With the B5 kernel, my backlights come on when I have unread emails...and since I don't check them very often, I worry the feature is using a lot of battery. Is there a way to turn it off?

Just what are the bootloaders? What do they do, and how do I use them?
So, I've collected pretty much all of the stock Odin files that have ever been posted here (or anywhere else) for the Fascinate and have downloaded them pretty much as soon as they were posted. Since most of these were posted on Multi-Upload, they are all pretty much gone now. So, I figured that since people may need them, I'd host them for users. If you need them, here they are. I'd also appreciate if you clicked the Donate button by my avatar to help pay for hosting as well if you download one or all of these.

Thanks! I was just looking into older stuff yesterday and wondering if any of these would pop up. DL09 is tempting if only for the battery life lol. Any chance you still have any of the older custom roms based on these? I particularly like RubikS, either 1.3 or 1.7...

No, I don't collect custom ROMs, just the stock ROMs as they can actually be useful.

I doubt it very seriously if they push any more otas for this phone, seeing as the last two had a lot of problems with peoples phones. I know I had to flash your version cause the ota sucked.

Thank a lot!
Maybe someone kept these roms EA28 update.zip and ED01 update.zip. I need them to do this solution
I just purchased a fascinate. Under the assumption it was for Verizon. During the activation (OTA) I got Metro PCS. Verizon says the MEID is clear and I just need to flash it back. Will any of there stock roms do that for me?

Thanks imnuts, your eh03 ROM saved my bacon yesterday, I had trashed my ROM. Thanks to you, Odin, and Titanium Backup, (or more specifically, those who wrote them) within 4 hours I had everything back. (nandroid failed me for some reason)
It's not much, but I donated - hope it helps.
Thanks friend
You saved my fascinate.
Hey thanks a lot for hosting these. Just a quick question, does the pit file go along with every one of the files or is it just for one or two specific ones?
Thanks again.

Just an FYI, if you use the PIT file make sure you check Re-Partition and check Phone Bootloader Update to update to GB bootloaders when using the EH03 package.
