Is there a way to remove the recent apps list all together? If not I will definitely be doing this.

There are a number of ways to remove it, a quick and bootleg way would be to just reduce the height to 0 and width to 0 and hope for the best. Personally, I haven't tried this method, but it should work. I like it this way because you still get the functionality but with a bit more screen space.
Ok ill try that and see what happens. I just always use long press home button. So I really don't need them in the pull down.

So I made these for my tattoo because I didn't really like the look of the slider tabs, and thought I'd share them. I changed the unlock icon to blue and the silent to red and vibrate I left orange. I think it looks okay, but would probably be better with new buttons altogether. Here is a screenshot so you can see for yourself what it looks like:

To install you'll have to pull your current framework-res.apk, rewrite the files in drawable mdpi then push it back.
Is it possible that u help us rewrite the file, and zip it up? so that all we do is just push it in, thanks.
if what you mean is that i just give you a framework-res.apk with the changes made i can do that but my framework-res.apk is different from yours and it could cause unwanted changes or errors. if you want a default everything else but just the transparent sliders then let me know i can make that for you.
But what version of android did u installed? Why is ur .apk different?
im running 2.2 SPQ Rom... i dont know if that makes a difference but if you stlil want my framework-res.apk let me know.
Transparent unlock
I am not understand you, u mean replaced the all file into framework-res.apk..??
Help me step by step please.
Well I've looked all over, tried a few different methods and none have helped, I'm looking to change the carrier caption in the statusbar pulldown window which has already been modified in the rom I'm using...-see below-
trying to change the Synergy caption, can pretty much do anything decompile wise etc, thanks for reading.

Yeah, well while you find the answer to your question, post that wallpaper up bruh.
lol the wallpaper is one of the stock wallpapers "HTC wallpaper" in the Eternity Rom (3.0)
You would have to decompile "SystemUI.apk" and navigate to res/values/strings.xml
and change the line below to what you want. Them recompile and sign your apk.
string name="status_bar_system_title">Synergy</string>
It should be the second to last line I believe, if your not to familiar with decompiling I can do it for you just send me your apk.
Too easy my friend leedroid tweak.

That Wouldn't work on a CDMA Rom Would it?
yes it does
I want to change the color of the buttons, is there a guide on how to do this?
Just replace the images in SystemUI. Don't remember the exact ids, but you should be able to find them.

Well that didn't go as I expected. I found the files and tried editing one but that's the part where I'm failing. How do I edit the .png properly? I tried with this result...:

I'd love to have a pattern unlock without the little circles but still have to do the gesture.
So I've done this..TUTORIAL!!
decompile framework-res.apk from system/framework
search for the image in the folder of decopiled apk => apk\res\drawable-xhdpi\ those files:
Code:
btn_code_lock_default
btn_code_lock_default_holo
btn_code_lock_touched
btn_code_lock_touched_holo
btn_check_label_background.9
indicator_code_lock_drag_direction_red_up
indicator_code_lock_point_area_default
indicator_code_lock_point_area_default_holo
indicator_code_lock_point_area_red_holo
open the images with paint.net
select all the image (ctrl+a) delete and save
recompile the apk
push it back into system/framework/framework-res.apk of your device
a little advice, choose a suitable image of background to guide you,
not one solid background, otherwise you will have no more access to the device!
Now nobody can try to understand your pattern anymore!!!!
yeah!!!

In stock Android previous to 5.0 the VPN icon appears as an annoying persistent key in the top left like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After 5.0 they moved it as a system icon to the right and it can be turned off or adjusted.
It looks like this:
It seems like in Touchwiz they never updated this and the key is still on the left. Even if you're using 5.1.1 (I assume 6.0 will be the same.)
---
2 Questions:
1) Without rooting, is there a way to remove or hide that icon?
2) Is there a way to file a bug or ticket with Samsung to let them know to fix this in the new Touchwiz? Or some other way of contacting them?
1) Long press on the notification and see if you can disable the notifications there.
2) ha Good luck with that.
