[Q] Synergy Contacts don't search - HTC EVO 3D

I am using the newiest Synergy rom. It is great!!! I have one issue and unforunatly it's a big one. When you goto people and type a name it does not search. It will highlight the first letter of the first name and stop. It should search through the whole list and bring up best matches or goto search the corp lookup. It only brings up the corp lookup if I choose to not view any contacts. So for example if I open people and type dave it will highlight the first d it finds then stop. I use the corp lookup all the time and need this feature. I also noticed that it will not auto search in messages either. PLEASE can anyone help? This is by far the best rom I have tried. I have done a complete reinstall. Wiped everything. Reformatted sd card etc.. I am very familiar with android phones and this has me stumped.

this is a known bug, the devs are working on it.

ah thanks
Do you know of a thread I can follow?

If you check out this thread,

by Deadlocked007, these map packs are set for HTC locations and Premium Navigation. Basically once you have the app installed it will give you the option to
download maps for offline viewing.
These are those maps.
Won't these need to be renamed for the phone to recognize it when you move it to the .data folder? They don't appear to have the same names as the ones you'd get straight from the phone.

I went on to double check the names. Apparently the Minus site is down for whatever reason, not sure why but as of now its not letting me log in via handset or browser. Just boots up a blank screen? The full name that I currently see on my sd card when viewing properties shows as this...
"United States - West.cmap"
If these names are not the same as above during download something must be going on w/ minus. Soon as it will actually let me view their site again, I'll make sure I resolve the problem or even find a better place to upload them.
EDIT: Thanx again for pointing out the error in the name. I was finally able to look it up and it seems that Minus is putting a "%20" for spaces in the file name. I tried to go in and edit the name but that doesn't even show "%20". It shows it as normal. So yes, I guess you would need to remove that. Wish I would've seen that before. Ill make sure I update the OP to include the name change. Thanx again

Hello,
I spent some time and uploaded all the map packs for HTC locations. These files are quite big and took forever to d/l them to the phone but thought it might save some time if they were online already available.

Correcta mondo!
I spent a whole day d/l the US maps to my phone and spent the greater part of a whole night uploading them to my minus account. I currently only have the US maps d/l so far. I suppose I can check out the others and d/l them as well. I'll grab the India one first and so forth and keep going from there. This does take time though so just fyi
I'll update the OP as the downloads/uploads go through.
Note: Interested to join minus. Use my Link !

Helps us both get more space + these maps that are taxing me on available space...

Isn't searching all the whole point of google search? And why does it have this error anyway? I thought I was the only one.
I've read this somewhere before. Ice Cream Sunday is BAREBONES, that means it has stripped off a lot of stuff, including what seems to be a dependency of the Search function. I've read about a fix talking about installing something related to voice search. If you want, you could try googling around for it, I lost it. I just left it broken since all I wanted was to search the web anyway, so like Curius7, I simply set it to search the web only.

Google Auto Complete doesnt 'complete'

Hey guys, did a quick Google search on this and didnt see any answers to this bizarre quirk.
I am on non-rooted ICS (stock) - no comments from the peanut gallery about this. Once CM is stable enough that I feel I can use it, Ill switch.
Now, on to the problem.
I installed Chrome and set it to the default browser (but Ill probably change it considering what Im about to post) and set the home page to google.
I begin typing a search query, for example, 'Samsung AT&T No' and Google presents some suggestions of what it thinks Im going to actually search for. Tapping ANY of these suggestions hides the suggestion list and does NOT fill in my query with the suggestion I tapped. In addition, the keyboard is also hidden until I tap in the query edit field again.
In addition, Id like to just state for the record, xda is TERRIBLE on mobile (the website). I dont know what this new 'theme' is but it is barely functional on mobile, on the desktop, the website is completely broken in Firefox (14.0.1 w/ No Script and Tree Style Tabs plugins installed - and yes, I am enabling scripting for XDA).
So, I have reverted to the old xda theme until this is fixed.
BUT, does anyone know what is wrong with Chrome?
Is Chrome out of beta?
if you click the arrow next to the auto complete search query it will fill it in for you.

Yeah I was having this same issue. I am rooted and using the stock browser, same goes for the google search widget. But the answer above solves the problem.

[Q] 4.0 Talk apk - sort everyone by availability

EDIT: ANSWERED. See Reply #2.
I can't take this anymore. I've hated it since the day I upgraded to 4.0, but I can't take it anymore.
Google decided that nobody wants to view all buddies and sort by availability at the same time. Apparently, they've never met anyone with a huge buddy list.
How do I make the ICS Talk app sort ALL buddies by availability, not just my most frequently contacted ones? And if I can't, is the 4.1 or 4.2 version capable? If not, will replacing it with the GB Talk.apk do any harm?
Thanks, guys. Google royally screwed up on this one.

I don't know how to make it sort the buddy list the way you want, but you can try reinstalling the gingerbread version (Just make sure you make a nandroid backup first so you can easily fix things if anything goes wrong).

Ohh, thank you, God. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to rooting the Droid 4. I figured it out.
To make Talk.apk sort *everyone* by availability, not just the most popular contacts:
Open Settings -> Apps -> All -> Talk and hit "Force Stop"
Open a root terminal on your device.
cd /data/data/com.google.android.talk/shared_prefs/
edit BuddyListCombo.xml in your preferred root-capable text editor. I used the busybox "vi", but if others exist, feel free to use them.
change the value for "gtalk-view-mode" to 1
change the value for "gtalk-sort-mode" to 0
save file and exit
You should now be able to bring up Talk.apk and see all contacts sorted by availability.
WARNING: DO NOT bring up the "View Options" settings within the app after doing this. Because you can't sort this way from the GUI, anything you do will overwrite the file with one of the three options available in that GUI. You'll have to do this all over again.
Edit: Typo correction
Edit 2: make instructions more generic

AOSP SMS/MMS Thread Error

Hi Everyone
This is a semi-fix for the SMS/MMS threading problem.
My setup : S3 i9305T
Rom: Pandoriam
Launcher: Nova Launcher
AOSP Messaging theme
I tried the other suggested solutions of putting in the country code for the number but that didn't work for me. I put in spaces but that didn't work either.
Solution - 1: What I found worked for me was to start the message thread. It seems that if I'm not the one that starts the thread, then when the person replied it goes to it's own thread.
Solution - 2: An issue occured where a friend of mine messaged me. I deleted the thread and then replied. When he replied it started a new thread again. I deleted the thread, deleted the contact, re-created the contact and then started a new thread. That fixed the problem.
The problem is still on going for MMS. But at least it's a partial fix =)
Hope this helps someone somewhere, merry christmas!

well, the OP's temporary fix is completely different from the link you posted
longice:
Hi guys,
I just thought I should bring a little "fix list" for the messaging threading issue. I seem to be having more trouble than anyone, so then I got a couple of tricks that seem to work
If you have troubles with threads splitting (multiple threads per contact), try the following in this order:
1. Download Number Fixer from Play Store and add country code to all numbers. Yes, all. Try with +xx (e.g. +44) first. Then open your Gmail and enter contacts page, remove ALL spaces.
2. If the above doesn't work, try changing country code to 00xx (e.g. 0044). And remove spaces.
3. If even that doesn't work for one or all contacts, try deleting country code for that contact.
4. As a last try, add country code 00xx and delete all messages. Then be a good friend - send your friend a message! BUT - in the recipient field, type the entire number (with country code) and DON'T select your friends name when it pops up (keep typing full number). Send the message and hopefully the reply threads as it is supposed to.
Right now I think I actually use all four solutions on different contacts Some work one way, some the other. But luckily I'm not the one that care about keeping my messages

Wow...what an interesting response for my first post.
Sorry longice but I won't be giving you any credits or thanks as I didn't find your fix that you posted 3 weeks ago. If I had I would have but I didn't so I won't.
If I ever post something again I'll have to make sure I scour the threads to make sure I don't get blamed for plagiarism......and here I was thinking that the main thing was to offer help to others....
