How link apk to Android Market? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Re-installed an app (apk) I had previously backed-up.
Originally, I downloaded it from Android Market.
Now how can I make Android Market see it?

With Titaniun Backup, you must have root access, long press on the apk and a pop up window will appear, just select link it to market, and thats all

Tried that.
But shouldn't there be an "M" (referring to Android Market) over a yellow smiling face? I can't get that...

Try going in to Manage Applications, find the market, and Clear the Data and Cache.
Then re-open the market and go to My Apps... this worked for me.

How about linking apks downloaded from other (non-market) sources?
I wanna get updates for my other apps that I didn't download from the market. I've tried the above steps, but it still didn't work for any of the apps.

Moved to Q&A as not development.
You can't really do this, as you need to install the app via the market. It's a form of piracy protection.

Actually, he can do it, by using the latest version of Titanium Backup and option is working fine, tried it myself.
Titanium Backup will attach apps to market as long as apk wasn't modified. It also works for paid apps, but in that case purchase won't be authorised when you wish to update and Market will present the Buy Now dialog.

But that didn't work for me... I don't know why but it is a free app....
It isn't really meant to work, so I can't really help. Either way, paid apps won't work with this method.
I'll try it with a free app myself, though I don't quite think it will work... not sure why, just a feeling
I have noticed that when I restore a nand backup that all my apps come back and the market recognises them.

hey,
that method leads to FC's and installing the apk leads to app not being installed.

The same thing happens to me when I try to install the Swype app....
Thanks for the link. How the heck do I get it to work without the constant force closes?
make sure it's named vendor.apk and change permissions to fit the other system apps.

Good news, I updated to CM nightly 168 and the FC problem stopped for now.

If you having problems installing the swype apk... you can use Ti backup to uninstall swype, then reboot (important). install swype directly through "files" app or "my files". Worked for me!!
you guys realize that swype updates itself through the settings>input>swype settings> ..
right??? I guess its after the last update mines been updating
Any themes around?

Android market gone. Please help

I have a big problem now.
my android market gets stuck at "downloading" and i cant download any apps.
i google about this and it seems that a factory reset is required.
i was reluctant to do a full reset,
so i download the latest market from this forum, version 3.3.11 something.
after install, problem still persist, cant download apps.
so i use rom toolbox, deleted the market system app,
and reinstall the new app market.
now worst, market always force close.
fine, so i do a factory reset. wipe everything.
but after reboot, market app is not there.
what can i do to get back the market app?
Go download n try again ...or use root explore system/app n place the market app there ....hope it helps

Here is a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329014
thanks, strangely the market app is now a system app just by putting the apk in that folder.
when pressing edit, theres no minus sign at the top right, meaning i cant delete it, it became a system app..

Gmail most likely deemed it as dangerous so it killed it when it hit the server and will not allow you to download it. Use Dropbox or something like that for this.

Ok, thanks. I've retried to download the app from Gmail and the downloading+installation worked. Now, my problem isn't keep the apk file...but cancel the not-working download process that is always active also after reboot and wiping of cache partiotion...

Play store question.

I accidentally converted play store to a user app and it won't open when I tried to click on it. Reboored , cleared cache and data and switched it back to a system app and it still won't open. Is there anyway that I can get it to work again?

Which ROM you use doesn't matter
only having root access matters

Apk- http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1778500&d=1362397533

definitely
tell the procedure you following.
Uninstalled play store, downloaded a play store apk online, installed throughout system app and it won't work, installed it regularly and it worked but still won't open, installed it as a user so I changed it to system and still won't work.
