[Q] Please help with opening superoneclick galaxy s2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I'm a complete noob to this sight but I was wondering how I can open superoneclick. I went through almost all the steps to root my galaxy s2 but for some reason when i needed to open superoneclick it does not work even though it previously worked. It sais "unable to find a version of runtime to run this application." I have tried reading around so much but found nothing to really help. My phone is in usb debugging mode and all that stuff. I even tried un-installing and re-installing SOC but still nothing. Even downloading and extracting older and newer versions. Please help I will greatly appreciate it

Have you installed NET.Framework 4.0?

Root + CWM .

The method most of us use to root .
jje

I just tried installing it no luck. One of the only reasons i want to root is to be able to unlock my phone. That's my number one priority right now.

Well Super One Click method is old afaIk. Why don't you just root with Chainfire's method, the easiest possible I've seen,

I can't find the files to download for that. If you can sujjest another thread to me to root my galaxy s2 for beginners I would greatly appreciate it. The more simple the better

What does that mean? Just see what firmware you have, say it's KF3, then just download the KF3.zip file which you will find in post 3/4.
Rooting can't be any easier than this.
Regards.

the problem is I can't find the attached file

I'm a complete noob sorry man. Do you check your firmare by going to settings>about phone ?

Yea, or just press *#1234# and see the PDA version. Find the same in that thread. Why can't you see the attachments? That thread is full of it!

I am so confused where do I press 1234. Which is title is firmware under, is it under "kernel version" ?

where do i press 1234 ? Im so confused. Can you tell me how to check my firmware step to step. setting>about phone and then what title should it be under like "build number' If so then it is KF6 ?

Apparently it's kdd ? I can't find the download for it

Several methods, but if no success, then you are apparently doing something wrong. What methods, and what are you doing, exactly? Easiest method to root is to flash a CF-Root kernel. From what it looks like, you'll need the KJ3 CF-Root kernel.

You can update to ICS any time you want, and you probably should do this first before rooting, unless you want to root twice. (root once for GB, then update to ICS, then root ICS - because you will lose root once you update to ICS anyways)
Looks like you are new here, and have some reading/learning to do to figure some things out.
Start here for stickies with a wealth of information.
Really, there are no short-cuts. Short-cuts lead to missed steps. Missed steps lead to bricked phones.
As ctomgee said. Describe what you have done
Hi ! Thanks for you answers. yes Im beginner and new on the forum
Ive downloaded a BUKJ3 kernel and install it with the odin and s2root method but apparently the kernel was secured so nothing done :s Ive tried too to root it with the CMW.zip in the the sdcard and to start in recovery mode always nothing.
Ive found a method using SuperOneClickv1.9.5 but haven't tried cuz Im not sure its safe.
* I would like to update it to ICS before rooting but how ? :s
Thanks a lot

once you knew waht is Download mod and how to use Odin.....pick an official ICS rom from here and flash......means install....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
hh Yes friend Im reading right now
Im just confused about some details and Im afraid to done something wrongly.
the problem is that I cant find a similar kernel of my fone. can i use any other one ?
are you willing to Root first? and searching a CF-root for that?
then pick it up : http://download.chainfire.eu/52/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_KJ3-v5.0-CWM5.zip
Ive downloaded it and puted it in sdcard and lunched it from recovery mode but : verification failed. have I to unzip it before copying in fone memory ?
If you can show me how to update it to ICS and root it after it would be so nice.
Thanks for your help.
LOL.......
You have to read read read read There is no substitute for READING for COMPREHENSION
Have you ever used ODIN? if not please learn it first,
the file I sent was for ODIN flash, because your phone is not rooted yet to flash zip from recovery, you have to unzip it to get a TAR file and to put in PDA section of the ODIN.
but please read more
Okay mister ahmed.
your absolutely right I just ask for advices before manipulating in the fone. yeh I know how to use odin. It exists a method where the flash is maked on recovery mode thats why Ive asked that question.

*facepalm*
Odin flashes are in download mode, not recovery. You have a lot more reading to do.
You have the kernel needed from the link posted previously.
1. Unzip the kernel and keep the tar file.
2. Set your phone in download mode by pressing vol down + power button.
3. Run odin and connect your phone to the PC while in download mode.
4. once odin sees your phone, click PDA and link to the tar file
5. Press the magic button and that should do it really.
Here is the link that says it all:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Hope that helps...

[Q] Rooting Galaxy S2

Hi
I'm sure you get this a lot, but I really suck at this. Its my third week surfing these forums and I still can't put a step by step guide in my head on how to root it. A lot of the phrases are out of my understanding, so I'm going to ask and hope someone replies
Here's what I got : Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100. Android 4.0.3 , Kernel 3.0.15-I9100XXLPS-CL294511, Build number IML74K.XXLPS
The question is this : Can I root it with 1 click? Truly, without searching for some drivers and stuff I'm not sure I'll find.
Please be aware that I really suck at this, and that I'm basically rooting my phone for Market Enabler and to remove that thing that pops when you double tap center key, the voice command thing, drives me nuts.
Thank you and have a great day!

Use the XX_OXA_LPS CF-Root kernel to root. (find it by doing a "find on page" on the thread) Follow the instructions in post 1.
You will need Kies installed, but not running, for drivers. (or the standalone Samsung USB drivers) Both or either can be found easily with a Google search.
Hey,
Thank you for your quick reply! I do have Kies, as it came on the phones SD card
I will give this a go right now, thank you again for saving me moar weeks of search <3

That method does not work for newer releases of 2.3.6 or higher. That includes ICS. Which the OP is on. So it would not work for him.
Just flash in PDA of Odin the cf-root kernel of your firmware

I didn't download it to check, but just watching the video, (at 3:02) the command window that pops up clearly says "Easy rooting toolkit (v2.0) created by DooMLoRD" up at the top, followed by "Modified by Max Lee @ GalaxyS2Root.com". (I believe Max Lee is zedomax, but I don't know for sure)
I don't know what this Max Lee fellow changed, but I'm willing to bet that the actual exploit used to gain root is exactly the same, yes.
Hey just a quick one
Where do I get odin? And how to put my phone in download mode? Is it power, home, and volume down?
Thank you!
EDIT : Made it, but nowhere it says about USB debugging? Should I put it on or off?
EDIT 2 : Made it Ty all!

That's because it doesn't matter if USB debugging is on or off for Odin flashes.

Generic Firmware

My Galaxy s has jsut arrived, I want to flash it with generic firmware without rooting it............for now. Can anyone point me in the right direction of an easy to follow tutorial. Thanks in advance guys
Install Samsung KIES on your PC, connect your phone via USB and open KIES. If there is an update for your firmware it will notifiy you.
You'll also be able to check manually by clicking on 'check for new firmware' or something to that affect on the main screen of KIES.
You won't be able to put on custom roms etc without root
Consider trying this also: On your phone, go to settings --> About Phone --> Software --> Update.
This should check for any latest updates for your phone, although i can't remember this option working for me though. KIES should be fine.

No modems are interchangeable and flash able to change via CWM or Odin .
LP8 is reputedly better than LP7 .
LP7 is nearly as good as 2.3.6 .

First thing search for cf-root for your device. On the cf-root page you will understand how to identify the correct file for you. Download the file. Use odin following details about how to use it. Get your phone in download state. Volume down+power button+home button. Odin will detect your phone. After cf-root its time to install a custom rom. I use slimics look at the forum for it and the way to install it on your phone. I hope this helped you.

[Q] Root file for Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100

Hi guys!

Anyone knows where can I get it? I've seen many sources on goolgle, but I don't know which source is safest to download the file.
Can you guys help me with that, please? I appreciate it!
Thanks a lot!
What do you mean with 'root file'? If you search for guides, for example here on xda, you can just follow the steps.
Please don't ask for the best way to root your phone or something like that...

Do you know where can I get this "zip file"?

To flash via Odin? Or CWM / TWRP?

You can flash a custom kernel with Odin (or even find other methods). If you search and read a bit, I think it shouldn't be that hard to figure out which ones and where you can find them. No offence, but this has been covered for so many times by now, so the answers are already out here.
To the person above me: I think his phone isn't rooted yet
