I chose the evo3d over the optimus3d.
The optimus 3d has faster architecture and is as good as problem free...
However the evo 3d has lots of problems reported...gps issueses, camera freezing, getting hot when doing alot of gps or downloading ect...
But i do like sense 3.0 and the bigger resolution of the screen...And the design, notification led.
Dont know about colors, if they are better on wich phones ect...
The o3d got more internal memory but i dont care...i have a 32gb class 6 microsd..
I simply do not want to have a phone full of problems.
I only have 7 days of trial before my time to return it is over, so i cant install customs roms because it will be rooted.(i will have the gsm version.)
It all depends on how the device suits you. My EVO 3D has given me none of the problems that people report. And the way you speak about the Optimus seems as though you've tried it out, otherwise, you can't really make any conclusions about it. If the Optimus suits you, then stick with it. If you like the EVO, then stick with that after your trial period.

I have a few camera freezes but no the ofeten anymore I guess the phone got the hang of it lol, no gps issues here and there is a light leakeage in the bottom of the phone but I look at the screen more then the phone so it doesn't bug me ( plus you can only see it in the dark)

+1 after owning the g2x I will NEVER buy another LG phone.
Everything I have ever bought that has LG printed on it is either broken and lying in a drawer or in the trash. That is my primary reason for buying the HTC. My Hero is still perfect condition and usable.
Btw.. I have zero problems with my 3D, camera or otherwise.

I have owned a couple LG phones; they are great multimedia phones. But after my first HTC smartphone, I will likely never switch to another manufacturer and I will surely never switch to another OS other than Android. Android equipped HTC devices are very innovative and updates are very frequent, either through official updates or developmental leaks.
I have experienced minor issues (as all phones do) but I have found a resolution for every one of them in the community here.
I think you made a safe choice.

Help me with something, if you don't mind, please...
I talked a non-Android friend of mine into taking advantage of the Radio Shack free tmobile phone deal this week. He got a G2X. How bad is it, really? It seemed to be quite fast, and I know they have a CM7 port for it already.
Should he return it for a different tmobile model, IYHO?

I have been looking for one for weeks and it has been a no-go. i've looked through XDA market, and CL. i dont understand why, ive heard so many people trading back to a atrix from a sensation asap when they tried it. when i ask if they'd trade its usually "no thanks, the sensation is worth more". i honestly dont care about price tag. that doesnt put out how much the device is worth, just what manufactures tag it. especially when atrix has more ram and features. and before i get flamed for even posting this. i want to trade because i care about display and camera over webtop. i take tons of pics and watch netflix alot on the go. i actually liked this display until i watched a couple movies.. i hate the outer glow on the screen and how grainy it can look/washed out. or maybe i should go after another phone?
Reason im posting it here is because i want to hear people who have the atrix or even both opinions. thanks
edit: haha to think i was about to trade.... http://www.htcphones.net/htc-announced-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio/ look at this ****!
I have an ATRIX and I love it ..I actually thought about trading it for a sensation but after watching a review it changed my mind. Its so much faster than the sensation and never lags,..I think it was bad with MOTOBLUR but with a custom rom or the official gingerbread update its simply amazing, only phone I would trade it for is the galaxy s2

ive heard about all the laggyness and glitchyness the sensation has "had". its mostly all gone now, they released a update and one of my friends that has the sensation says all the screen issues are gone and its way less laggy. so that made my interested in it again. ive always been on HTCs boat, this is my first Moto device. i wouldnt mind getting one again though.
edit: dont get me wrong, i LOVE my atrix, best device i have had. i just like to switch things up.. i dont really care for the "big features" of this devices. they sounded cool at first. but not for me

Do you like it though?? about benchmarks or anything of that matter. just everyday use and games/movies, also i love to skype and such. its sad atrix isnt supported. thanks. ive never been big on CM cause its all "stock" it just bores me id rather have eye candy and neat looking things and a camera/gallery with great settings then just.. stock. hopefully ICS has neat things
thats why i love sense. it all great in one package. i havent had my hands on sense 3.0 yet, last android HTC devices i had was the mytouch 4g.
I can't do HTC phones anymore until they improve the battery, and make the signal strength stronger...

I love my ATRIX, I get around 2200-2700 on benchmarks and in everyday use it never lags, opens applications easily, also the battery is a huge plus, I easily get through a day, I could get it through 2 but i'm used to charging my phone every night. I also think the tegrazone games are fantastic, even though im not a mobile gamer. If you're thinking about trading your phone for the sensation I would wait for any HTC devices coming out in the next few months that may running sense 3.5, or even beats audio, or maybe a Samsung galaxy s2 or nexus prime.

I agree, my old MyTouch barely made it through like half a days usage..would have to charge it around 5 or 6pm, Motorola also always does a great job on radio too
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
lol i know what you guys mean xD i am always home so that isnt an issue, and with radio i have more benefits with the sensation cause im on tmo. the biggest thing i will miss is the nvidia GPU, im huge on nvidia. not so big on AMD adreno... AMD always is lacking something it seems. id be giving up tegrazone for NEON support, that is hard. id probably go for neon support because i play emulators more than anything.. like ps1 games, etc. just getting someone to trade is the problem :[ id love to have a spare atrix though, this phone has been my favorite so far modding. HTC phones have never been that fun for me with modding lol, idk why. alot of people think the guys in the atrix forums are mean, lol. people are worse in the HTC forums.
motorola atrix internal hardware with HTC sensation external would be a dream phone haha.. im never getting a samsuck phone again, after what they did to the people who spent $500 on the behold 2 to f*ck them, seriously. dont mean to sound like a **** but i was one of them who bought it lol. im all for motorola, htc, and id think about getting a xperia if they made a freaking dual core phone and not just overclocked a arc up to 1.4ghz -_-
my brother has a incredible and holy crap that things battery life is horrible!

I'll give you the screen, but my Atrix is in a case so build quality to me doesn't matter as much.
I really think "HTC Sense" is the biggest draw that brings people in. I enjoyed my time with it too.
But whether I had HTC for Android or even Winmo, I never kept a call in any of my questionable dead zones.
If they fixed that and the battery (larger physical battery and in the software) I could see myself going back to HTC again down the road...

I'm switching to Sprint in a couple of days and I've been eyeballing the Evo 3D. I'm a huge fan of HTC (I currently have the Aria) and HTC Sense. My friend works at Sprint and he can hook me up with a phone. I asked him if he could get me the 3D and he said yeah but there are problems with it. He recommended the Galaxy S2 but Idk. As with any phone some will have issues while other won't. i have had mine since end of July with Zero issues. I am rooted and running CleanROM. Definitely recommend rooting it and flashing CleanROM. Very fast and stable ROM that has the look and feel of stock with great battery life. I get 24 hours with light to moderate use and 12+ hours with moderate to heavy. It is worth checking out.
It is up to you, but I say go for the 3D!

I've been hearing the reverse. Between the Samsung Epic 4G touch (Samsung Galaxy SII) and the HTC Evo 3D, the Samsung has much more benefits...also the 4.5 inch display is really attractive. If I had the option, I would definitely switch over to the Samsung. However, since you're posting here, I think the development community is much more active with the Evo3D...basically meaning more options. Also I've heard Samsung is bad with rolling out updates.

Yeah I know the screen is Super AMOLED but I looked in the S2s forum and there isn't a HTC Sense ROM out and I don't think they plan on releasing one anytime soon. I'm just getting the Evo 3D because it runs HTC Sense and is faster than the Evo 4G. I really don't care for the 3D part
Sent from my Liberty using XDA Premium App
The SG2 is a faster more up-to-date device. Its screen seems to be very popular among most because of it's high-contrast AMOLED tech; even though it is lower resolution than the 3D's. I'm honestly not sure what the dev scene for it looks like... because, well, I don't have it so I haven't ever really looked at it.
I personally chose the 3D because I like the 3D feature (gimmicky as it may be it is pretty dang awesome) and, more importantly, I like HTC's build quality and design.
As for my choice; I've been through three Evo 3Ds, the first had a cluster of dead pixels, the second rebooted and had some major light leakage problems, and the third had (and is building up more and more) dust inside of its screen. My third replacement should be coming within the next couple of days so we shall see what #4 has in store for me.
As for bugs in the SG2; I've heard horror stories of LOS problems and some issues w/ the battery life but I'm no expert, I say do a little bit more research on each phone before you make your choice.
P.S.: You will never find a "perfect" phone. They all have their pros and cons, it all comes down to your preference in the end.
Edit: Oh, btw, you'll never see a Sense ROM for the SG2; their code is not open-source so only HTC can use it.

Back on topic, i think besides a couple of design flaws like light leakage and some people complaining about a crooked screen, the evo 3d is awesome. If I had the choice, i would get the 3d again with all of the software issues that the sg2 is having (los).

In the dark, you might see some light seeping through the crack between the screen and bezel or the backlight might bleed onto the screen from the sides. Google light leakage phones for examples.

Hope these help you decide though.
And if those aren't enough here's what I think:
Personally I wouldn't buy any phone without a shutter button because it makes it that much easier for me to use.
The Amaze let's you go straight to camcorder or camera from the lock screen/off screen simply by holding down the corresponding button.
This works wonders for when I want to capture moments with my kids.
And the One S? No removable battery, no microSD card...what is it, an iPhone?
I think it's original production name was iphONE S.
Seriously, think about it. Lol.
Before you buy any phone check to see if there's a good developer community for it. What makes these smart phones smarter is solid development.
You're better off going for the s3. I know i am
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G
If sd card, removable battery, dedicated camera/camcorder button and NFC are important then you should go for the Amaze. On the other hand if none of that is important then I'd suggest going for the One S. From what I've seen, the One S has a pretty good developing community and HTC is currently supporting it as it's one of their flagship phones. While the Amaze is left in the dust sadly.

I agree. I went from the Amaze (well still have it as a backup) to the Galaxy Nexus, so I'm in your reverse situation. Honestly, the hardware of the Amaze is top notch, so in that regard you wouldn't be disappointed.
However, if you are looking for a variety of things to flash and robust development, the Amaze is really not a good phone to get. It's no fault of the few developers we do have, but more a lack of proper drivers and source thanks to HTC abandoning this device.
If development is important to you, go with the HTC One S (better processor, GPU and screen) or the SGS3 (better everything) when it comes out on the 21st. Both will have better dev communities since they are flagship devices.

Purchasing either one right now is a poor consumer decision and would be very premature. I'm a fan of the Amaze, but not happy that HTC has abandoned it. I'd wait to play with the S3 and then weigh your options and decide what's most important to you.

I know devs work super hard on getting all features on the great ROMs they bring us to feed our flashing addiction lol so by no means am I bashing or anything like that. Just curious to see how many ppl are crazy about it 3d.

Are you referring to our phone (as one of its nicknames is 3d) or the feature?
If your referring to the phone than I love it, while the 3d has gone through its rough times development has picked up and is amazing. At least for cdma (I don't really go into gsm). Because of our awsome devs I kept my 3d instead of buying out my contract and moving on.
If your referring to the feature than in my opinion its a gimmick. I used it for like a week to show it off but that was it. There are rare occasions that I show it off but it's not anything I really care for anymore. I've pretty much moved away from sense and the ability to use 3d.

Yes I'm refering to the feature the actuall device is great and all the development that has recently emerged IS AMAZING! I sold my GSII to buy this Evo right before ICS update and I gotta say at first I was a bit disappointed (mainly cuz of all the freeze/reboot issues) but after rooting and non stop flashing I couldn't be happier. My thing is that Im sure devs spend a ton of their time working on it but do the benefits really outweigh the time spent?

I'm CDMA by the way

I have the GSM version and as far as development, whoa this week saved me from upgrading, I love my Evo, fast, sturdy, right size screen although I couldn't care less about actual 3d camera, as previously stated, it's a gimmick. We have so many jb aosp, cm10 roms, just can't seem to justify the upgrade now. I would also miss all the flaming wars and antics from this forum, at least I have something to replace hockey for the moment
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
Haha yup I want Evo 4g lte but same here because of all the great devs here I'm in no rush to upgrade at all

3D is at the bottom of my list when it comes to features in a Rom. It was interesting to try when I first got the phone but that was about it

Amazing phone because of the amazing devs. They have been giving lot of love lately. Plus when I play avatar in full sbs on my phone and people see it.... The look on their faces is like a troll drooling. Haha...

3d was on the bottom of my list
i only bought this phone cause it was cheap and a decent CPU/GPU/RAM and had removable battery and microSD storage for my 32GB class 10 card i already owned.
3D though won me over a bit - it did some nice shots - its a massive gimmick but I think its a shame it hasnt been picked up much.
i sadly dont have a 3d tv or anything so my phone is the only way to show images off.
I actually really want a Nexus4 now too - so bit of a tough decision - if HTC released Jellybean for this Evo3D then I'd probably stick with it another six months or so
as it stands I am sorely tempted by the cheap price of the Nexus4 and the fact that google will support it!
Evo3d is my second htc phone although it has very good specs my next phone won't be htc anymore due to htc development policy. Actually all of the android phones have the same problem a bit but when my evo3d dies i will buy a nexus no matter what
I consider the 3D to be a massive gimmick but in all fairness its a good show-off
with the right 3D video your friends can get blown away. Showed it to a friend of mine and now he wants a 3vo too.
BUT.. being an AOSP lover like me you wont get 3D to show off. Its a damn shame when your friends say "why the eff did you buy a 3D phone when you arent gonna use it for the 3D"
im like [-_-] _|_
I can give a link to avatar qhd sbs if you guys want. Looks really amazing. The picture taking is really a headache though.

I used it to take a few 3d drunk shots and videos and havent touched it since. It isn't a necessary feature for me and I don't think I'll use it ever again if it comes to JB.
Yeah same here I'm not sure if it's just my device but it really just looks like I'm seeing double so the 3d is useless to me. It would be cool if they could incorporate another cool feature into the 3d switch instead

i have been tryin alot of roms....paranoid android is really awesome u guys! i think the 3d is one of the most fun devices i've ever owed. when i get lte in my area i'm prolly gonna stick w HTC and get a 4g LTE!
some of the construction job photo's Ive taken with 3d from top of cranes and scissor lifts, have freaked people out.
I'd probably use 3d once a week if not more.
I base my decision on hardware specs, if HTC make it too hard to get s-off then I will go elsewhere for my phones.
But they shouldn't remove it either, need something to save the idiots from themselves
It is cool initially and to show other people. I get a lot of great wow responses but day to day, at least for me it is pretty much useless. I'd rather have a single camera lens and a thinner phone

In my opinion PA is the best rom out. It has a couple minor glitches but nothing that can't be looked past lol. By far the most options available for customizing.
Just hope there's a PA coming for evo 4g lte cuz I'm getting one soon...

For me 3d is just a nice gadget to show off, and etc, but watchin 3d movies in the bus (when u must sit in bus for 8 hours) are great.
it's a nice feature but i don't often use it...but if the iphone had this option i think the apple fanboys would brag all day about this
So the Amaze community is really quite fun to be a part of as of late, so many ROMs: awesome stock ICS based ones, to CM 10 being daily driver quality, CM 10.1 very active, Viper port is very active, I want to continue participating.
But, when my wife wants to get a hold of me, she never can because I have the phone in mid install or setup of some new ROM.
Time to start carrying two phones or risk divorce. Looking to find a cheap stable android phone supporting 850/1900 3G band to use mostly for phone and text (and some streaming music either google or rdio). Has to be SIM card compatible with Amaze. All the new phones seem to have gone to the smaller SIM size. Don't need much storage, won't be putting many apps on it. Oh and unlocked(able) of course.
Any suggestions?
myTouch 4G (Glacier) I have one which is my DD. Have CyanogenMod 7.2 with Darkside kernel. I can go almost 20 hours on a full charge with heavy texts calling and data. Wifi calling is aces and accessories are cheap and so are extra batteries and my replacement screen and digitizer was only 15 bux when mine broke.
Went with a LG Optimus G from Canadagsm
Found a SIM adapter. Fingers crossed, LTE 32GB otherwise a Nexus 4.
Priced almost the same.

Theres a thing in the optimus g development section that converts your phone in to a nexus 4 so you can run n4 roms on it. So i guess optimus g would mean the best of both worlds

I flash my ROMs very late when the wife is asleep or I have GrooveIP/Google Voice on my tablet where I can answer any calls.

Too awesome. This was supposed to be the phone I don't fiddle with. Have not touched it yet, but my ORD may win yet. I have the phone but still got to get a sim this week before it becomes my daily driver.

In an unexpected twist, my work gave me a new Galaxy S4 a few weeks back. I ended up selling the LG to a friend (whom I'm trying to convince to join the XDA LG Optimus G forums/community, and try out the ROMs there, mostly because I wasn't allowed too, lol).
Man, I hate Touch Wiz and Samsung bloat. I'm not allowed to modify the phone or the IT department will shoot me. It does benchmark really well, and the LTE "feels" faster than on LG. But I still find myself using the Amaze for regular app use, even if though the S4 benchmarks so much higher.
So if you like Sense and don't like TW, stay away from the S4 if you are looking for a new phone. But do get an LTE phone if your area has it, the difference for me is amazing.
Since this last post the number of new ROMs on the Amaze is impressive. What a great community!

Just curious, why won't your work let you modify your own s4?
And thanks again for your generous donation to sports everyone should be thanking you now lol

Sloppy grammar on my part. Work owns the phone. The gave it to me use for work.
After all the rave reviews and benchmark numbers I was expecting to stop using my Amaze. But the amaze with the latest Roms is a pleasure to use and I hardly notice any difference from a performance point of view.
