Ziggy is a Developer. he deals with mostly kernals, and is a genius at it. He is known for his work on the evo 4g and various other devices. He is currently building the evo3d kernal blind(without phone to test), shows his genius. ziggy471.com is his website.

That's right. Z is a developer who shows his talent with kernels. I had used his kernel with EVO 4G. I don't think he released standalone kernel for 3D yet.

[DEV] Developer-related discussion for EVO View 4G

Thought we'd have a thread here for mainly Dev's so we can communicate in one section with the already isolated sections.
Well, I'll start off first:
Does anyone have luck on the following?
- Creating AOSP kernel (GB base)
^ 2.6.35 source is out on htcdev, but kernels are not my expertise. I contacted cayniarb to see if he'd be willing to make one for us.
- Building any AOSP roms? GB/ICS hacks
^ Been trying CyanogenMod 7 unsuccessfully for a few days.
I don't think it's impossible, however given several tries at compiling. Resulting zips just don't boot, probably bootimage/kernel related... Think I have got all the proprietaries pulled and needed files set up by mostly mimicking other MSM8655 builds.
- Direct porting flyer roms to express
^ Something I may try soon if I can't get any progress done on my end. This is probably not very hard, but looking at the Flyer choices there doesn't seem to be a whole lot we are missing out completely on.

I can vouch for this; using any Flyer ROM with the View kernel that matches the version of Android (i.e. GB or HC) WILL work on the View. Namely, LeeDroid's GB ROM with the OC View GB kernel. Although, using the Flyer kernel will cause a bootloop :\
The only thing we are missing out on is an optimized kernel. We wouldn't even need Flyer ports with a "proper" View kernel
I am more interested in getting ICS working right now. I'm working on the final build of CypherROM and from there working on themes and a kernel. My team has been trying to build a kernel based off of leedroid's work for some time, but haven't had any luck.
It looks like a dev just made an alpha AOSP kernel for the flyer, which we can't use of course (for the newbs reading):

The biggest problem is the WiMAX. Doing some research it looks as though we might be able to use HTC "speedy" aosp kernel source. Same processors and gpu. Just need to get a hold of kernel source and comparing def_configs. I have done nothing but kinda look into it. I have built the device folders too. But I knew the kernel was the issue so I wasn't going to compile. And once we get an aosp kernel we can also get a decently functional touch recovery.

Why don't you just port it for us?
If I only had more time I could actually get more done with my rom and try to build AOSP. Getting promoted has just taken away all my time.

In my opinion beats makes music sound like crap when ported. And I have had it on multiple devices.
My aosp kernel testing is not going very well. I really need to read up on board files in the kernel to remove the sense stuff from them

@jmztaylor As for the kernel, would you be interested in working with my team to get the stock one working on cypherROM? Daniels7 (leedroid tweaks) gave me permission to port his tweaks over to my rom, but I need a kernel port of the leedroid kernel or something to that effect (I'd like to build our own). I don't know enough about kernels to do it myself and unixdood hasn't had any luck building one. Everytime I try to cook it in, or even make it flashable it causes bootloop. PM me if you do or if you'd like to work on anything else (including teaching me lol). Thanks!
Hmmm maybe I will just go ahead and do that but idk....getting kicked out and my ROMs shut down was not very nice....just maybe though!

I have tried taking flyer kernel and porting it to the view but I can't get it to finish compiling. Even after fixing the missing stuff I still was getting a lot of errors. So I put it on the back burner. I got too many projects going on. HTC policy officially is 90-120 days to release kernel source. So we are almost there. LOL

Got some good news from tiamat
Sent tiamat a message, got a reply back. There is hope for us, but we need people to jumpstart and kick development back into the Evo View. So, testers needed on irc...
Hey there, your kernels have been a hit with the vivo on the latest ICS rom we have, we built over the IceColdSandwich LorD ClockaN has been working on for the ace.
I was wondering, if you would ever take the time to look into making a few extra kernels for a few spots where development is really sore.
It's with the HTC Flyer / EVO View 4G tablets, as since we don't have any AOSP kernels, no unofficial CyanogenMod with us too.
The chipsets of those tablets uses the same one as other devices.. I don't think the Flyer has a popular chipset (MSM8255T) but the View uses the mecha's MSM8655 only to be clocked at 1.5Ghz instead of 1.0.
If it's not too much to ask, we could really use your help.

The only thing that has been holding me back from working on kernels for the Evo View 4G / Flyer is a lack of testers. the difference in the two processor numbers is not actually related to the processor. The 2 indicates GSM basebands whereas the 6 indicates CDMA bands. I imagine the WiFi-only Flyer is numbered 8055. In any case, to further confuse the numbering/naming scheme here, this chipset is usually referred to as the 7x30 platform. The Thunderbolt, Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire S, Incredible 2, Inredible S, Evo Shift, MyTouch 4G, View/Flyer, Bliss, Merge, Sensation XL, Rhyme, the upcoming One V, and some more I'm missing all use the same platform and should theoretically be easy to merge into my existing code. I only support the first 8, but if I had testers on any of the others, I'd be happy to add them in. The catch there is that I can't make the ROMs for it.
Send me an email or find me on IRC and we can talk more about it.

[KERNEL][HELP]Kernel Development Help Needed

Hey everyone! I'm in dire need of some kernel help. I've ported the One V RUU to the Amaze but I can't get it to boot. So I need someone that is willing to help me build a kernel and get this thing booting so I can share it with the rest of the community. If anyone is willing to help out, PM me preferably or post here. Thanks! I'm begging now! haha
I guess porting the rom is porting the kernel in a first place, which is not possible at least while htc will release a source for it. again, just my guess

I did send Faux and message but he is extremely busy and doesn't have time to build a kernel.
I asked for help on another forum I frequent. Currently there are no Amaze developers there but there are good developers there.
Thanks to a former Inc member who asked for my help, I can give a bit of device.
I'm not going to really try to support or figure out a kernel on a device I don't own, but a couple of things to try.
Does Amaze have ICS on AOSP? If so try the kernel from that.
There may need to be a kernel source code merge to get touchscreen working. Take an existing GB Sense kernel and try to boot ICS with it. Any errors or issues still booting? If so you'll need to try and modify the boot.img from the One V (Primo) and make it work on Amaze (Ruby) or modify Ruby's boot.img to work on the Primo.
I'm not going to bang my head over a phone I don't own but hopefully this can get you started.
When in doubt, try to debug why it won't boot with logcat.

I have tried to boot it with both a GB and an ICS kernel. I've also taken the Primo kernel and attempted to edit it but I think I may have done it wrong :/
Also I've tried to logcat but it doesn't work because it doesn't boot far enough to enable logcat. But I had a previous logcat and I'll post it right away.

[Q] Help in porting sense to sense??

Okay i need help. I used the guide for porting sense to other sense devices, and followed it exactly. I modified the updater-script and everything, but the problem is the kernel i think. The sense for the Mytouch 4G (Glacier) is 2.3 and the HTC Evo 3D doesnt have any sense 2.3 kernels, only 3.0 and above. Can I use the stock 3VO kernel (sense 3.0) on a sense 2.3 rom or am I going to have to get someone to port a sense 2.3 kernel to the 3VO.? thanks guys
Try it out and let us know.

lol, you have to be joking... i lol'd. not picking on you, just thought that was sarcasm. good show brother.
to the OP....
you can't just flash kernels to different devices. it is not that simple. kernels contain drivers that are hardware specific to that device. so unless you have two devices that are exactly identical in drivers and kernel modules (never seen that before...) you will brick the device.
flashing software that is not meant for a particular device (a port) is a tricky thing to do and takes a lot more work that just reading a two page tutorial.
like this guy said.... try it... and let us know..... ? lol.... i would really advise against attempting this unless you are very familiar with linux kernels, C++ coding, java... etc...

I've been using flex360's Stock with Goodies 1.6 along with freeza's modified stock kernel for about a week now. I've seen some pretty amazing battery life and don't really feel like wiping my phone clean right now so I'm holding off on updating. I guess I won't have a choice once some amazing kernels come out that aren't compatible with my ROM.

New To EVO3D, whats the BEST rom.

Hey how is everyone. My nexus s 4g broke and i bought a evo 3d off of Ebay and i was wondering what was the best rom for this phone. Now im used to the stock ICS feel i was wondering if there were roms that similar to the ones on the NS4G, im not a noob but looking at the language in this forum its different from what used to in the NS4G forum. What are some of the best kernels? (im used to using Mathkids Matr1x) and what about roms?? Thanks if anyone can help. God Bless.
Ughhh, I swear if I see another "best rom" thread I'm gonna slap a baby.
There is no "best rom" that we can give you. Every rom has very different features for different users. Some are made for performance, some for battery life. Nobody can tell you what the best rom for you is. One of the benefits of rooting is you can easily switch roms whenever you want. So try one out for a few days, if you don't like it, try another.

Well cm9/aokp has definitely been refined, you should try either of those. Or if you'll wait, dh should be releasing a new miui anytime now...

God Bless.

In my humble opinion:
Sense based: ZR3dX (see my signature). Everything works since it is based on what HTC released. Smooth, great battery.
Sense removed: d3rp ICS. Based on sense, but with the sense removed so everything works, but a few minor things (like no shortcuts from lockscreen since no Sense)
AOSP: CM9 Devil Toast. Everything works but 3d, but it is not as smooth as the dev would like yet.
Of course, to each their own. Even my opinion could change tomorrow. That's the beauty of it. Flash one today, try a new one tomorrow. Here is the Evo 3d CDMA development forum for you to choose from:

I'd totally agree with coal686 on the AOSP rom. Tried a few "AOSP"s and I'd say its a close call between CM9 and NonSense 3.1. Found a bug using 3rd party camera apps with NonSense, and although there's no 3D with CM9 its a way tighter rom! Definitely recommended.
(these are GSM recommendations, btw)
For cmda I recommend miui v4 or meanrom ics.
Well i am using anryl's own rom and his 30.07 kernel and have my evo 3D overclocked to 1.5GHZ =D i recommend using them if u have any problems feel free to PM me
Hit the thanks button if i helped
