Seeing as we have kernel source now, I'm thinking that custom kernels are inevitable. I wouldn't worry about your fingers needing to be crossed.

That's heartbreaking. I exclusively used his kernels on my 4G until I made the jump to gingerbread. I've been using flex360's Stock with Goodies 1.6 along with freeza's modified stock kernel for about a week now. I've seen some pretty amazing battery life and don't really feel like wiping my phone clean right now so I'm holding off on updating. I guess I won't have a choice once some amazing kernels come out that aren't compatible with my ROM.

Linaro coming to CM9!

Seen this over on Android Police, and theres no mention of it here in our beloved LTEvo thread! Linaro is coming to CM9, and it sounds like very soon! Says to nearly double the speed on ICS. Heres the link:

CAN NOT WAIT!
Wow....the interview was over and google's android was still running it's benchmark. Amazing stuff, can't wait till it's implemented into CM9. Thanks for this OP, it was a good read/video.

JBQ said that they actually merged some of the Linaro code into Google's internal master branch. You know you've written good code when Google accepts it into AOSP.

We've already merged some of Linaro's changes into AOSP (and therefore into Google's internal master branch), a few weeks ago. Some more are pending review and look promising.

Sounds pretty awesome, but I had never really planned on going back to AOSP... wonder if any of this would be able to be implemented into a Sense-based ROM? That would get me excited.

Beat me to it lol. Yea Kush is getting close it looks like. Once the data/sms are straightened out, I'll be all over it awaiting Linaro
from what I gathered watching that video, it seemed that we will not benefit from this....
Seemed the changes done were kernel level and geared to the specific SoC the Nexus runs...saying they were CPU optimizations, and that it mainly was cleaning the "bad code" allowed in -o2 optimization, and once cleaned they were able to run through o3 optimization...
correct me if im wrong in that thinking though...
still pretty cool!

Unofficial, I believe, means that it isn't supported by the CM team.

Ill say it again.
Show me a fully functional AOSP ics rom.
Driver issues, Rosie (HTC crap) issues.
As with many devices you're only going to get a half ass version of Google's latest OS.
Only reason we have any ICS based Roms on Amaze is because HTC actually did all the work.
Sorry I respect Hasoon, Whatever that young kid that got chased off, and others amazing work on the handcuffed Amaze. Its just that frankly these threads are full guys begging for ETAs and the devs saying hold your horses! Almost there! When the reality is OEMs have sucked the open out of AOSP. There's very little one can do without climbing massive hurdles anymore. Just face it.
If I'm off base or if there's some spectacular change in reasoning as to why JB will be any different ..please correct me as I'd love to be wrong.

Do prefer sense...have used stock with goodies, liked it but discontinued, mean bean (battery issues), super jelly (like but lagged), cm10, and the windows 8 one (confusing) lol....will give tranquility or viper a try thanks

I am on the January 3rd, 2013 nightly of CM10 and it is absolutely perfect.
Everything works, it is super-silky smooth and completely customizable.
It is noticeably faster and more laser-sharp than the stock ROM with Sense and puts back all the functionality that the various lawsuits took out of the HTC/Sprint releases.
I am also happily using the Tranquility JB ROM. The battery life has been good and it has been bug-free.

Kang = To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding. Source
If the software developer has permission and credits the original source its not considered kang since its not stolen.
Now back to what this thread is about. Personally I'm bias towards our rom (Tranquility) however; there are other good roms out there. It all depends what you are looking for. If you want a stock rom with a couple of mods, I recommend to flash stock rom, then zepp's multitasking mod, followed by OMJ's Mod Pack.

Trying to build a kernel from 4.3 source

Hello, fellow Evo LTE brethren. I have grown weary and quite impatient in waiting for different things to be released (in this case, a custom Sense kernel), so I am going to pick up the torch and try to figure this one out for myself.
Currently, I am updating my Ubuntu base with the required packages, and possibly even a few more that aren't needed or outdated. I'm doing my required readings to learn the ins and outs, and also about the different rules and regulations regarding cherry picking, kanging, tweaking, and the sort.
Any advice/assistance/direction is appreciated, and I will request this thread to be moved to the Dev section when/if it is finally ready for the public, or I might make a new thread, depending on the size of this one.
Just a heads up you will need to fix some stuff to get it to compile. I compiled it and got it booting on sense 6 just need to see if I can get sound and cam working. Will keep you guys up to date with my fixes.
