You can use android kitchen to cook custom roms
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Can someone provide the modified vendor files for kitchen to cook X8 roms ?
If you have a friend who cooked roms before for hero/legend/g1/nexus devices, ask him to cook one for us, this is the fastest way
For those who never cooked a rom, this link might be a start :
http://source.android.com/porting/build_system.html
Cooked rom should use our original 2.6.29 kernel of eclair and our rild libs, rest of system should be prelinked to those files.
Gingerbread (2.3) is available in AOSP repository, there's a very good chance we could have it running before SE release froyo if ever.
I have tried this rom Prime from LG Optimus P500 (same cpu and screen).
Flashed with xRecovery, than before rebooting copied over xRecovery files back to flash (to be able to return to my backup).
To enable "adb logcat" debug, put adb-enable file in /data/property/ directory.
The rom booted, i saw android 2.2 bootscreen, but than it crashed..

Thanks it worked but i installed busybox from market and then after that i installed the apk file for X10 the big diden't work then a replaced the files with the ones for X8/X10mini and now it works
For those who can't have it work try like this
1. Download and install busybox from marketplace
2. install this apk file http://www.mediafire.com/?prj83693lv94lut its the xrecovery for X10 big but install it anyway
3. download the real files for xrecovery in the first page http://www.mediafire.com/?lz6gwgohuakvbfo
4. move extract the files you downloaded to your sdcard
5. Use Root explorer to copy/move the busybox, chargemon ant the xrecovery.tar to system/bin after you done that it should work
It's my first post and the system tells me to post here!
So i have x10 mini pro update to android 2.1 with SEUS, i rooted with superoneclick, now i want to install Xrecovery...i have the three files:
Xrecovery.tar
chargemon
busybox
I know that i have to copy them to system bin and then reboot, correct?
My questions...
1) I have AndExplorer and I can't change dir attributes..do i need root explorer in order to do this or there's a way also on andExplorer?
2)I have titaniun back up installed and so busybox but it's in the folder \system\xbin not \system\bin, so i have to copy the three files in bin or xbin??
Thanks a lot!!
titanium backup will work. it is xRecovery that will not work with another busybox. check the threads at the x10 mini section. if you can not access xrecovery, try getting the chargemon from the other thread, or if you know how, change event1 to event0 (which i dont know how).
I'm not on a Pro (just a mini) but I have found there are a few Windows apps and scripts to simply install busybox, root, Jit, Xrecovery etc on the mini and pro (single click operation) there is even an .apk for the mini to install Xrecovery..
If you search the threads you will find them.. shouldn't be any reason anyone has trouble with these simple mods.. with all the DEV work gone into making scripts and apps, even my girlfriend could manage it (if she had any interest in modding her Mini)
if you still want to do it the hard way (I guess thats the best way to learn).. Busy box is an important thing to get right, if you have installed it... look in your app drawer and find your installed "busybox" then open the app and click on Install (I don't know why you install it then have to 'install' it within the program but you do) or is it just me?
the 3 files should be in System\bin but you also need to change the permissions before you reboot.... more forum searching required if you want to find out how to do that without Root Explorer... the search feature is your friend and the best way to learn.. good luck.
hope that helps..

i installed root via superoneclock and installed xrecovery via flashtool, but didn't work well, than i installed xrecovery mini and it works great.
i am using an x10mini pro

i had some of your problems too
1) Titanium use its own version of busybox. You can use an app called 'root checker' to see if busybox is installed properly
I had to install it, heres's link

2) To change permissions i used a free version of root explorer

Hey guys,
The easiest way to install root and xrecovery is to download the newest version of flashtool. The newest versions have xrecovery and root for all version of xperia family (x10, x10mini, x10minipro, x8). They should not have any problems rooting or installing xrecovery. I would reinstall the laster fw via SEUS before using it tho.
Cheers,

Do you wipe all dalvik caches ?? and the first boot after install it's take about 5 minutes to rebuild all cache files. After that it's working perfectly. Try to reboot few times and plug off your battery first !

help with xrecovery
hello guys,
just bought myself x10 mini pro and loving it so far. I have successfully rooted and have busy box and su permissions.
next, I followed the following steps for xrecovery but it does not seem to work for me.
Code:
xRecovery : Manual Installation
- Phone must be rooted
- Download and install Titanium Backup. Run it and press Problems to install busybox or you can install standalone busybox in market !
- Download attached file and unpack the recovery package in to sdcard
- Use Root Explorer to remount /system rw
- Copy the content of the package (3 files) into /system/bin folder
- Chmod 777 for 3 files copied !
How to use xRecovery :
- Reboot your phone !
- Press BACK button few times right after white SE logo appears.
- Use VOLUME-UP and VOLUME-DOWN to browse, HOME to select, BACK to go back.
I have copied the 3 files using root explorer and mounting it rw and the permission set to 777. I have also checked the files/permission using adb shell.
I have then turn the phone off, turn it back on and press back < button on the sony ericsson logo but no matter how many times i press or hold the back button it does not take me into recovery menu.
Edit:
my bad, i did not copy over busybox and chargemon because the files were already there from rooting process.
anyone who has this trouble, make sure you copy all the three files to system/bin folder and set the permissions and it should be good.
Hello,
I do not have enough messages to start discussion in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571, so, I am doing it here.
After updating my x10 mini to 2.1.1.A.0.6 (with full wipe) and reinstallation of xrecovery it stopped working. It just does not appear if I press back button several times during start.
I tried both .apk and manual method, checked permissions, changed it to 777, but xrecovery still does not appear.
Is something wrong with bootloader in this version, or is there any other reason? How to handle the issue?
Thank you in advance, having xrecovery is crucial for me.
Xrecovery works fine on 2.1.1.A.0.6. (I am using it right now to backup my 2.1.1.A.0.6 system)
double check your busybox install and make sure you are using the old xrecovery 0.1 for mini (the new versions of Xrecovery don't support mini or pro)
Kiwi
Could you please attach busybox, changemon and xrecovery.tar in the post?

plus, you only need the modified chargemon, busybox and xrecover.tar, and have them moved to /system/bin
if it doesnt work, i think you need to edit chargemon. look into the original thread for further instructions.

i think you should repair with SEUS and start again with rooting etc...
Which xbin are you talking about? The /system/xbin directory?
Maybe it's because the method you are using to root tries to installs the su binary in /system/xbin. Which method are you using? You could try another method, for example, if I remember well, when I used to use z4root, it installed the su binary to another directory.
Once root is working, you can use any terminal app (or adb shell) to recreate the directory.

This is a solution that surely would work.
Yeah..I'm talking bout the /system/xbin folder...I tried using z4root but it jams halfway...superoneclick doesn't work either..
I like the root option in flashtool, always worked for me when the others failed.

Use flashtool to wipe your data and get back to stock rom. Then you can do whatever you want with it.
