Now that we have a CWM image that works with the Flyer, has anyone started working with @koush to get our CWM image on the Rom Manager list?
I would like to be able to use Rom Manager, but it requires CWM to be installed by the app.
Honestly I think he should support multiple recoveries. Why only cwm?

Express/Flyer Rom Manager Workaround
I have the View (Express) and I used a little workaround until its recovery is listed. I copied and edited the .settings file from my 3d's clockworkmod directory changing the detected_device from "shooter" to "express". Then, I overwrote the original .settings file in my View's clockworkmod directory with the edited one, rebooted and Rom Manager recognizes recovery and allows me to peform all functions except Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. I've pasted the contents of that file below and I've also included a zipped copy. Try changing "express" to "flyer" and see how it goes.
{"paypal_transaction_id":"","is_clockworkmod":true ,"current_recovery_version":"3.0.0.5","detected_de vice":"express","flash_recovery":"","readonly_reco very":false,"recovery_timestamp":1312091378056,"re boot_recovery":""}
Awesome mate!
Could you patch that also for the flyer, then I could add the patched version to my rom? (I have so many things to do..)
That would be great

Works great with my Flyer 3G/Wifi. I just started a backup using Rom Manager - Very nice.
I used your .settings file and modified "express" to read "flyer" as you suggested. I simply replaced the existing .settings file in /sdcard/clockworkmod with the new one attached.
Cheers!
Please disregard this post.
strange as i have just installed rom manager onto my flyer and clicked reboot into recovery and it did this just fine, no work around needed.
is this needed for backing up etc as i already did this in the recovery menu not via rom manager

You may or may not need it, but it's fixed these problems for some: When selecting "Download ROM", "Check for ROM Updates", "Install from QR Code", "Manage and Restore Backups", "Backup Current ROM", "Partition SD Card", or "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" most people encounter the error "You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager first". When "Install ROM from SD Card" is selected a warning is displayed "Flashing an update package on a recovery other than ClockworkMod Recovery may not work properly. Proceed?
Yeah it restarts to recovery fine but in Tom manager it didn't allow to backup or manage until I changed settings
In ROM Manager, press menu, then 'manual flash override'

I bought a used Hero that's already been rooted. I wanted to backup the ROM on there so I installed ROM Manager and it flashed my bootloader image.
Obviously now I don't have the proper recovery image, I have the ROM Manager recovery image. As far as I can tell this image doesn't allow me to do stuff like Clear Dalvik Cache, reset my apps and such.
It does allow me to install a custom ROM -- I installed VillainROM -- but it doesn't let me actually clear my data on my device. So Villain runs like laggy crap because I can't do a proper factory reset with the image. It also didn't delete any of my settings or apps.
Am I missing something or do I have to redo the root procedure to get the proper recovery image back?

No no,... You should be ok to just reinstall the patched recovery.
Try following these instructions from BTDAG's [Guide] Newbie Guide to Install a Custom Rom [Updated 14/04]
Installing a recovery image:
1. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications - and make sure "Unknown Source" is ticked.
2. On your phone, go to Settings > SD card and phone storage - click Unmount SD card.
3. Then click Format SD card.
4. Plug the phone into the computer via USB, then pull down the notification bar and click on the SD card notification. Then click mount.
5. Download this APK and recovery image and save it to your computer:
http://zenthought.org/content/project/flashrec - FlashRec.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124 - Amon_Ra’s Hero Recovery Image
6. Copy them both to your SD card (do NOT put them inside any folders on the SD card, just put them on the SD card itself).
7. Unplug the phone from the computer once they are downloaded to the SD card.
8. Go to the Market and download ASTRO File Manager or any file manager program if you do not already have one.
9. Open the file manager and find the FlashRec apk file and click it and choose open app manager and then install it.
10. When it is installed click Open. Click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish. If you get "backup failed" response see the "Ib. Installing the correct HTC ROM" section for more details, if the backup is a success carry on.
11. Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type:
/sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
(replace exact name as new versions come out)
Then click on the Flash Recovery Image button and wait for it to finish.

Hello, I'm learning java in order to be an android developer, but I'm still new to this world.
When I'm trying to reboot into the clockwork recovery from the ROM Manager,
after I'm pressing "reinstall packages",it tells in red:
"
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
"
What is that missing "Update" file, and where or how can I get it?
Thanks
Is your phone rooted yet? ROM manager isn't of much use unless your phone is rooted. To root your phone, if you are running 2.1, google search for "one click root vibrant" and click on the first link and follow the instructions and download the program. Good luck.

Yes, my phone is already rotted by the app "superuser permission".
I have the same problem
and I notice when my phone is connected to my computer my phone's internal storage is labeled "G" and the external SD card is labeled "F"
I was thinking the problem had something to do with the labels. When it fails initially, I can hit the home button and it seems to boot into recovery but then, when I tried to do a backup I also got a failure.
I don't have an external SD card...
What is that missing update.zip file?

the update.zip file is either the ROOT file you download and place on the internal card to gain root access through stock recovery.
it happened to me once... i had the update. zip file and deleted it.. i guess it was the root file.. so re downloaded it and put it back on the sd card and reinstalled pkgs and it was good.. try finding the root file and putting it back on your sd card
if you are looking for the cwm recovery update.zip I uploaded it, its in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893824
but you should be able to just get it from rom manager, but whatever if it isn't working, you can get the update.zip from above.
that isn't the update.zip to root your phone, thats to get into cwm recovery.
In the rom manager app, tell it to flash cwr. And the tell it to reboot into recovery. Select reinstall packages, may need to choose that twice before it takes.

Okay, i know the risks, but i hate amon ra for some reason.
I know i can install clockwork through rom manager but does anyone have the latest clockwork for the eris that i can fastboot to my phone? or is there a way to take it from rom manager after i download it?
Here you go: recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-desirec.img
If you want to have access to both when cold starting the phone here's a trick you can use:
ROM Manager puts a zip file named "recovery-update.zip" in the /sdcard/clockworkmod folder on your SD card; make a copy of it in the root folder (/sdcard/) .
Then, when you cold-boot into (Amon_RA) recovery, flash that file first and the clockwork menus will appear. This has the advantage that you will have both Amon_RA and clockwork available to you - that "flash" doesn't touch the recovery partition, it just patches the live boot - exactly what ROM Manager does when you "warm boot" into recovery from ROM Manager.
cheers
Yeah, as much as I like ClockWork Mod Recovery, I've never had one problem with it, and so on, I would never actually want to flash it; not when it's so easy to load from Amon RA as it is through ROM Manager.

I am almost done rooting my HTC One. I am able to boot into recovery and get into TWRP but when i go to install it goes directly to SD (which I don't have). I have looked through all of the folders to find the .zip file that I need to install SU but it is not there. I have downloaded it directly to the phone as well as added it from "file transfer." File transfer that there are 3 zip files on the phones internal memory but nothing shows up in Team Win. Help?
Also when I reboot from Team Win, I get a message that tells me I am not rooted, and asks if I want to install SU.....I am afraid ill brick the phone if I swipe to install with no zip selected.
figured it out

I had installed the wrong package for TWRP. Got it changed over and it works fine now!
1. My Redmi 5 Plus/Redmi Note 5 India is rooted, using TWRP and Magisk
2. I would like to know if there is a way that recent updates under downloaded_ROM can be flashed using a third party application such as Flashify?
3. I have come to this decision because when I tried to reboot device for installing recently updates, my device enters the TWRP recovery only find nothing in there, which is annoying. Root cause for this mess is that Xiaomi's fastboot rom downloads page is download, which would usually be my go to method after all. Using Mi Flash Tool, and then a few command types re-root the recently updated mobile phone.
Please guide me!
If I understood well if twrp it´s not recognicing (not really, only it can´t access) your data partition you need to format data at first time after to unlock and install a custom recovery in order that twrp can access to your storage directory.
Flashify just is capable to install boot and recovery images. Maybe you meant FlashFire, then to install it tap on + button and a menu will display with some options like Flash ZIP or OTA.

you're right, brother. I meant FlashFire, when I typed Flashfire. My bad.
I have the OTA downloaded from the official website, since the file I had in the downloaded ROM folder always returned an error as corrupt file when tried to open using Winrar. So I had to go the official site and get the same downloaded to see the contents inside.
But now, having copied the file to the downloaded ROM folder on my phone, I do not see any option as how I can choose the file to get installed. I mean there is no file explorer option given to me, rather Google Drive option. Perhaps I have to have the file uploaded once again on to my Google Drive on my device?

Download again the file from the same site, maybe downloaded to your Google Drive is corrupted and check that the extension didn´t change from .zip to .rar or FlashFire won´t recognice it. Winrar have to be capable to open it otherway the file is corrupted.
When you are sure that is the correct file If you had a stock recovery then you can install it through update option in settings/about device/updates from miui menu
