I use CodeROM v2x-2b for daily use. Stable and fast and stock look (which i like).
But in the end its always a matter of personal preference.
Cheers
U can flash plain xwkpn, it,s fast and stable. And very good battery life compared to custom roms and its official Samsung multi csc firmware so there will be least issues in performance.
U will find a tutorial to flash it. (Xwkpn Spain) ..
Use original stock ROM
In my opinion, if you want to use your phone as a daily use phone, just leave it as is. Simply use the original ROM, less problems. In case of something happen, service center will take care of it and if it is covered by the warranty, You will probably be free of charge (condition apply).
But it depends on how the "daily use" requirements, Back to the personal preference.
For me, eventhough I use the phone for daily use but I want to explore how my SGA does with some custom ROMs. Just to get a feeling of "WOW" when I get something more from my phone.
Again, it back to your preferences.

Tamhaeda

If you absolutely want a custom rom, i can strongly recommend coderom v2-2b.

Just try different Versions. Otherwise you wont find the ROM you want to find.

From my experience, u must decide how u prefer using your ace. If u want fast it may cost your ace battery life, on the other hand if u want your phone to last longer it will cost u decreasing your performance or killing running background app event just using only 2g network.
I'ts all about how u configure your phone to meet your needs, roms just a way to get better operating system for your ace, different people, different needs.. So they will offer u different roms..

I like the Infusion ROM because it looks good and is fast as hell. Haven't used it long enough to evaluate the battery life, but so far it's looking pretty good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152693
I am using latest cognition
Works fast and reliable aklso kernel supports overclocking.
Battery consumption is good also.but this is 2.3.4 specific i thing, valid for most of the 2.3.4 roms.
In my view be better to wait for Samsung to actually release 2.3.4 rather than work of a leaked test rom .

I was thinking the same thing myself, but the ROMs using 2.3.4 are getting some good reviews. It's certainly tempting!
Likewise but just to many errors reported for me . Many from newb installs but as current rom is excellent and i want full 2.3.4 firmware flash on a clean phone before flashing custom i am trying hard to wait .

Same here mate. I think I'm just getting itchy fingers, coming from a HD2 where I was deciding on my next ROM whilst flashing one!
Im using Lite'ning with 2.1 (with 2.3.4) and it sounds the best to me. Fast and stable.
I'm using VR2.0 at the moment and getting 1% battery drain per hour with WiFi on and push email. Everything else is manually syncronised. Insane, and I doubt it will stay this way. On VR1.4 I had 28 hours before the battery died.
Not easy to answer... lots of roms with much difference.... just read some roms 3d and find your own street....

yeah but leak rom working better then official 2.3.3 , so its worth trying
yes i want to test gtalk video call and it was worked fantastic , my friend was on dell xps and i`m my SGS2 and quality was awesome , although i always feel samsung speaker could be more powerful. Right now downloading Cognition S2 want to try hand 1.5ghz over clock.
just root only
All ROMs are nothing but skins and simple tweaks. They are all the same. Until CM7 or MIUI finals are released, we probably won't get a real alternative to stock.
There's not a difference in UI, I agree. But my battery definitely lasts longer
To me, other than battery consumption, there seems nothing that could tempt me to move from stock....having had SGS 1 for quite sometime and been a flash addict, I think Samsung has done remarkably well for SGS2...its pretty much tweaked/optimized already, no lags...nothing actually warrants a custom ROM...but then who am I kidding...might as well sail on the custom ROM one day.
Atm i'm using Ficeto's 2.3.4 version, working fine but i'm thinkking on changing to Infusion 1.6 when the upload will be done
Litening 2.1 is best by far out of all the 2.3.4 ROMS I've tried out.

Dont forget about kitchen rom. That is also a beast imo.

so far I like LitePro Ver2.00 most.
I'm only a month old Androidian... and within a month I leant a lot frm XDA about installing custom rom/rooting and using new themes etc...
But I am really lost at one point ... which custom Rom is the best one and is flawless... i mean some times im really confused bet the top ROM maker's ... I knw that everybdy's workin hard to make a best out of it....
but I would really like 2 knw who's using which custom ROM tht's been used by maximum number of users and whch seen flawless (at least fast and 90% flawless)
Everyone has different tastes, so you should try a few roms to choose the one that you think it's better.
You must keep in mind that no rom is 100% perfect and there are always little flaws. When I install a custom rom, I always do a few tweaks here and there and add or remove that I like or dislike.
I've tried Exynos, Cognition, Villain, SkyRom and Lite'ning. To my taste, Villain and Lite'ning are the best, with Exynos in second place. FYI, Now I'm on Villain 2.1 with Ninphetamine 2.0 Kernel and KG2 modem, just to try something different to Lite'ning 3.1.
I'm eagerly waiting for MIUI and Cyanogen to become stable, but in the meantime I'm switching between the aforementioned roms.
I feel that Cyanogen is one of the most stable roms out there, even though they're nightlies. No sudden reboot, excellent batterylife, not to mention the huge amount of tweaks and settings built in..

For now I am staying (and thus voting) "original stock ROM".
This will very likely change once CM7 is finished for the SGS2
But its still early days of i9100 and every now n thn a new official stock rom is release or I must say "leaked" (thanks 2 samfirmware) .....
n it really sux whn after installing latest cf-root n custom rom , theme and backup restoration setting Home widgets your own way everthing ... which sometime takes many days to settle.
... and after doing all that @SamFirmware tweets that a new I9100 firmware is leaked... and then forgetting all the hardwrk we did to make i9100 stylish n fast, we start refreshing XDA forum to see whether smbdy has released a custom rom or not ?
n the Impatient ones takes backups via titanium and wipes everything and get back to Stock Rom to see the diff (deliberately ignoring the fact tht titanium restore will work only after rooting) ...
Its really a fact... tht happen with most of the ppl...
After trying various Roms in last few months... I stay with either Villain ROM OR Official ROM (CF Rooted ) .... hope that if some day it could be dual booted like my PC is.
I stick with the official ROM and customize it to my own needs.
I love MIUI as I love to heavily customise look and feel with ease.

CM7 it runs really great for me with no issues. I am hoping to get my Dual boot working soon to boot then i will be set.
I love batista 70. For me the best.
I think Leomar v2.6 is the best because of the personalization you can do and it's very very very easy to do!!

i agree with you
Cyanogenmod definitely. I never was one to enjoy being tied down to OEM software which were uncompatible with each other.
If you want a custom custom rom check out Insanity II... quick, stripped down, bare bones, no non-sense. Since you only run essentials it ups your battery life by quite a bit.
On Sammy ROMs Cognition and Darky are very stable and have decent battery life.
CM7 is highly customizable but you miss certain features like A2DP, FM radio, better camera , hi def videos that are part of Samsung ROMs. Some of these features are being worked upon and would be available whenever the stable version comes out.
Some people have better battery life on CM7. strangely it is not the case with me.
MIUI is cute but a big battery drain.
overall there is no best ROM or anything . you try different ROMs and use the one that suits your needs.
I'm using leomar 2.6 with nimpho 2.1.3 and it goes very smooth.. Battery goes for 2days (ofc that depends..) and in general works for me. Plus you can customize it and make it as you like through his kitchen with mods, themes etc.

Other than stock there are only 2 out, Overcome and Brood, It'll be down to your own preference but I use Overcome.
Hmm time to create another ROM then.
Just got mine
I am using overcome too but it has still some minor bug. I do feel that it is quicker than the touchwiz ... so it is still a good rom ..
perfect! I'll try almost Overcome ... waiting for some other more powerful ROM!! thx all
Overcome is nice and smooth, few things i would find are.
#some people might find the roboto font a tad difficult to read, but alterbridge has provided the original fonts,
#there is no overclocking, the pershoot kernel get a bit jittery if installed(some say the kernal fails to oc gt-p7500, but my antutu score shot up from 4600 to 6100 after installing pershoot's kernal, but i came back to the kernel that comes with ovecome rom as the tab was getting stuck at times with the pershoot kernel on )

I prefer stock with pershoots kernel, in ask its touch wiz glory!
Normally there is no best rom. It depence on your needs which rom the best is. Personally i use the overcom, because the ASOP theme possibilities. So possible you can take a look there. But also the task rom is very good.
At the end... what you need is what you flash
I rather wait for cm9.. now using stock + pershot [email protected]
Just got a TAB p7500 10.1

Careful here, task 14 is for WI-FI model only.
Try overcome that have two versions (for the 3g+wi and for the wifi only)
I now use overcome series but last time i try infamous it works great better than overcome imo after i realize that it does have 3g
Jamison said the 3g fix is on the way and it will come at this weekend so you can use his rom on p7500

I know you didn't ask it, but... For the laggy screen, i recommend ADW EX or another launcher and set it as your default launcher.
If you use overcome dont forget to use overclock kernel. It makes overcome super super smooth.
As for your consideration of overclocking making your tab not stable just install it but don't raise maximum cpu.
By the way is there anyone who use supercharger script at overcome rom?

Now, i know XDA's policy on "What's the best rom" kinda threads, and i would just tell him to try them all till he finds one that satisfies his needs, but he himself doesn't have a clue about the entire process, and i'm all he's got. He's also not gonna be in town for much longer, so i need to flash him a rom quickly before he leaves. The only requirements are:
1) Should be stable
2) Should have fair battery life.
3) should be atleast ICS. This part is absolutely crucial, as his college WIFI uses a proxy, and there's absolutely no way to access this on pre 4.0 devices (Well, it's also available in 3.0, but that's not applicable here).
Can someone recommend a good rom?

Don't go with a nightly rom, they sometimes are not stable. Also avoid ICS roms, they have the EUbug (renders internal sd card useless). Go with a jellybean rom (4.2), my favorite is Avatar rom, very stable and tons of themes.

As much as I love all the available custom roms out there, there is a trade off with memory consumption, gps, Bluetooth, etc. I would have to recommend using a rom made for the phone if you want something stable. I would not use ICS though. I finally made up my mind and will be using a optimized Froyo rom with no bloat, customizations, themes. Just do what a phone was suppose to do.
If wants stability & speed try trigger(froyo 2.2,all works) if wants some modern try slimbean or infamous AOKP,but have GPS issues(4.2.2) this roms works with 170-210 free ram.Vibrant t959 is a good pet for daily work! Good Luck!

The OP said it has to at least be a 4.0 ROM...........
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah guys, i need a minimum of 4.0, there's no way to get proxy working on any of the lower versions.
Also yeah, i don't think i want a nightly, since this is gonna be a one time flash, there's no way he's gonna flash later nightlies or even a later stable. I give him a rom now and that's exactly what he'll be using for the next year.
Tomorrow I'll be updating infamous aokp. Its stable fast and gives me good battery life. You can flash that!

Hello great forum,
Maybe a stupid question but what would be a really good rom for battery life and gps usage for my note 1 (Bell Canada) ?
The question I'm worried about is that I don't want to flash my phone with a rom that would turn it into a phone for US or others and just want to make sure it would work on Bell Canada without problems for the modem file and all ...
Thanks for your suggestions ...
PS: I even thought about a ROM that would be for ICS if need be ...I just want to be able to play Ingress without having 20% battery loss after 45 min
Thanks !
Idk about the ROMs, but you'll never get away from the ingress battery drain no matter what you do. That game is a juice hog. When I was a heavy ingress player, I would carry 4 extra batteries with me to get through the day. I would try carbon or hellfire, they are my current favs. Just make a backup and flash, see how it goes.

Unless BJ flashes a modem, I can't think of a single ROM that is going to flash over your current modem. Which means a simple backup will undo anything.

Thanks, so in other words, any roms I try for the Note 1 would have me being able to use Bell as a carrier no problem and use the modem I have already ?
I was just not sure which one to use as there are soooo many .... Asylum, Blackstar, CM9 etc ....
Priorities for me will always be to use what a stock could use, stability, battery efficiency and GPS working well ...
As backup goes ... Kies or Titanium to backup ? my note is not rooted ....
Thanks again
Yes, and no. Is your phone going to break? No. Are you going to enjoy any ROM, even those that are deemed solid, Not necessarily.
I only know about running T-mobile on an i717, but different modems get you very different strengths and data speeds. There's also the oddity of running ICS modems on (stock) jelly bean ROMs causes crazy weird lag spikes.
What I'm saying is, backup what you use. Try different stuff. If it doesn't work, or you don't like it, restore. Also, if you're currently on ICS, sticking to ICS based roms (blackstar or cm9) is going to yield a better chance at it "just working" than switching to a JB build. If you upgraded to stock jelly bean (I'm so sorry) sticking with JB ROMs is going to give you a better chance at your modem working without issue.

If you want stability, speed, and battery, always choose ICS. Period. People in these forums regularly confuse newer must mean better. In the case of our aging hardware, its completely false and they are more wrapped up with having the latest at all cost.
