[q] really bad battery life! - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a fascinate on eb01 with comavolt kernel. But my battery is still draining really fast without me even doing anything. With light use like checking email occasionally, the battery still dies in 10 hrs. Any suggestions?

Mysterious Battery Drain....

I've been on Bionix 1.2.1 for about 2 weeks and had relatively good battery life.
Suddenly, my battery life is going down really quickly. About 10% every half hour. I didn't update any apps, or install any new apps during that time. I've checked all my apps to make sure they're not downloading data too often.
As a last resort, I've reinstalled Bionix and the Ka7 stock kernel again as well. Now it seems intermittent. Battery life will be good for 2-3 hours, then rapidly drain, then OK for a 1 hour, then rapid drain.
I haven't been using my phone at all, just turning it on to see the battery life meter. I've checked the Android "whats using your battery" and it's only listing "display93%" "standby 3%".
Any Ideas?
well if you have wifi calling installed on your phone that might be what is draining your battery
that app is a a battery drainer even when not in use
Thanks for your reply Dgameros, I couldn't manually uninstall it so I re-flashed Bionix without wifi calling. Battery life seems to be better now!

Froyo OTA and battery issues

My brother did the OTA update last night, his phone has never been rooted.
After about 5 hours today his battery has about 20% life left! Battery stats says 74% of the power was used by the display which was on for 40 minutes.
Cell standby is about 4% of battery use and he was without signal for 25% of the time, if I recall correctly.
Anyone else observing something similar?
My battery life on 2.9.2 has been less than desirable and I was considering going back to stock in hopes the battery would be better after the OTA. This is not encouraging.
Also, does he need to go through a couple battery cycles, drain fully then fully charge, before he gets a clear picture of what the battery life would be?
TIA
Yes true battery life will be clearer after a few days of use. The phone learns your usage and gives a better idea of how much charge is left.
best way is to fully charge battery and then wipe battery stats and then drain battery and then charge battery to full one charge. Then use phone normally for s couple of days. Then you will hadn't good sense of what kind of battery life you are getting.

Thanks for the response.
Am I correct that he would need to root to be able to run the battery stats script or is there another way?

I update OTA last week on Verizon to Froyo 2.2. My battery was overheating and draining like crazy from my CPU usage being at a constant 99%..
I found the source of the problem. An app I use for facebook called "FLOW". The CPU usage was cut to 20% when I killed it with "Advanced Task Killer".
I resolved the issue by: Opening Flow.. going to Preferences.. Notification Settings.. Refresh Type.. Checked Periodic Polling (I was using Gmail Experimental previously)
Hope this helps...
I agree, the OTA froyo ED01 is worse for battery life. I get 5-8% per hour idle drain, which is way too high. I've been try to track down the issue with spare parts, system pannel, and battery details. So far I can't see any specific issue.
There are so many hoops to jump through just to get this phone working normally. It's really insanity that we should have to bust our butts on software bugs. And this isn't even mentioning the totally slow choppy ass browser in 2.2. (Vibrant browser on 2.2 SO much better)
Overall my urge to flush this POS down the toilet is growing every day.

[Q] ROM with the best battery life?

hi.
I am using CM7 now which is great, but since I am going to a trip abroad I need to temporary change to a ROM with GPS, but most inportant, with a great battery life.
I don't need any great performance like CM7, I just need the battery to last long.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

from my experience best battery i have on this rom i flashed this rom yesterday and charge it to 100% and run batt calibration it is preinstalled in this rom when you run batt calibration after that unplug your phone from charger and use it till total discharge and do not turn your phone on charge it to 100% again and its ok i've did it and play some games wi fi is enabled always i've use gps for 15 minutes and from yestarday till today so now i have 82% batt so i thing this is the best for batt
oh by the way lag fix is enabled to
Thank you. Do you know if calibrating the battery is useful even if I have one extra battery and I switch between the two batteries if necessery?
I don't know about the two battery thing, but i do agree that Project V have great battery life. Im using Super Dragon Modz kernel OCed to 1.3, and the phone its doing pretty nice till now. I unplugged it like 2 hours ago, and it still show 100%. On CM7, i would be around 75 to 80% by now. Battery life was the reason that i came back to Froyo.
WOW that's great battery life! Thanks a lot.
i don't konw about 2 batteries but calibrating is usefull it's helping 98% bug after unplug and it's greating a new battstat file what is realy nice project v6 is very good rom for battery i did't tried super dragon
I don't see how callibrating the battery helps extend battery life? The battery remains at the same capacity and draining any battery completely shortens the lifespan of the battery. I can see that the system might get a better prediction of battery life... But you get that regardless after using the phone for a few days / week...

Help with my battery?

My battery has horrible life. I'm rooted running evil fascination and have done all the things that typically help with battery life such as disabling gps and wifi, and lowering brightness. In fact my brightness is currently as low as it gets and my battery use shows my display as 99% of my current usage. Even though I just took my phone off the charger 15 minutes ago and it's already at 85%. I know my screen can't possibly have taken that much battery so fast. It also takes about 4 hours to charge from zero to 100 because it's draining so fast. Can anyone give me some advice? I downloaded an app that shows my current mah or whatever but I don't know what that means. I notice when it's at 270mah my battery drains fast which is most of the time but a few times it has been at 2 mah and it doesn't drain fast then.
sounds like a rogue app keeping your phone/screen running when off.. I had the same problem a while ago, 96% screen usage and taking 6 hours to charge then draining to zero in an hour and a half.. unfortunately the only thing that fixed it for me was a complete data/cache wipe and reflash of the rom, I think I was on superclean 2.9.2 at the time.. could be the battery being wonky also, you might wanna look into the battery calibration app on the market or wiping batt stats in CWR

CM7 Battery issues

Ive just installed CM7 today on my Galaxy 5 and the battery life is beyond awful.
Its dropping to 15% from 70% in under 30minutes, its not the signal im positive. It was fine before i installed CM7- any help?
I think some application is sucking your battery life. I have the same setup and I agree the battery is bad but not that bad. It lasts for a almost a day.
Recalibrating has seem to of done the trick:')
