OTA - Any way to bypass the wifi requirement? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OTA's are set to download only over wifi. But if I've got a wifi dead zone, is there any way to bypass this so that the OTA gets downloaded over the normal data channels?

[Q] Data Call Failures when I try to update the PRL

When ever I try and update the PRL, I get the confirmation screen of "Your PRL has been updated. Tap OK. Then I get a error 97: Unable to Estible a Data Connection. Is this normal? I don't think the PRL ever updates since I got back into settings and it tells me there a PRL update. It seems I've lost all data connection now even after reboot
Have you tried to update profile?

how to connect to WIFI EAP

i use motorola razr maxx stock ICS. When i try to connect with WIFI EAP authentication method, there is no option to change the protocol like PEAP,TLS,TTLS,SIM. So i can't connect to wifi AP. How to setting the authentication method? i try to use wifi advance tool download from playstore. set the protocol, user and password but still doesn't work, it seems the application not change anything. Is there anyway to setting the protocol without rooting the device? i afraid warranty will void if i root it, i heard motorola install monitoring app in recovery that can be notice if device has been root.

[Q] Can you get an unlocked phones OTA without ever having a SIM and only via wifi?

My parents just got a new Unlocked US Edition Moto G 2014, and it is on Kit Kat out of the box. I was assuming it would just update to Lollipop during the first boot. But nothing, and checking for System Updates is not working.
We do not yet have a SIM in this new phone for several more days.
Since I am not there in town, I do not want to try and drag my parents thru the awesomeness that is sideloading an OTA.
So basically - Can Android OS Updates like Lollipop be downloaded strictly via a wifi connection (using the System Updates feature) on a SIM enabled device like a phone. Obviously it is possible on wifi only devices like tablets.
Does anyone have any official proof/documentation of how this is handled? Or even users posts showing it not working until a SIM is installed? I don't want to waste any more time trying to get the update if a SIM is required on a phone. Which is odd because my phone is Unlocked - so there is no "Official Carrier", so who provides my OTA? The carrier I choose to use? Motorola? Or Google?
Thanks in advance!

Pdanet will allow USB and Bluetooth tether
Does it have US Cellular carrier branding or bloatware?
Pda Net is really bad. I continuously loose Bluetooth connection all the time....and only transmits. 0.60mbs. Also, can only connect 1 device at a time.
I was wondering if anyone
Flashed the at&t CSC file to get Volte working while using US cellular stock rom ?
Unlock tethering:
Install Sprint ROM, Check tethering and flash AT&T System (AP).
Everything will be stock and tethering is unlocked.
Follow the below steps
1. Flash Sprint Note 7 ROM upto Step6 listed in the below forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-note-7/how-to/root-based-off-super-leaky-brother-t3448430
ie,
1. Unlock developer mode , turn oem unlock and usb debugging on
2. Put Phone is download mode
3. Flash Sprint engineering rom
4. Once flash is complete and the phone reboots put it back in download mode before it boots (if not you will be waiting a while)
5. Flash all the files From the stock ATT rom except the sytem file , leave out the ap file
6. After second flash is complete wait for the phone to boot.
Check for tethering - Mobile hotspot should turn on without any verifications.
Shutdown the phone and go back to Download mode and flash the 'AT&T stock AP file'
That is it. when the phone is booted up, it'll be AT&T Stock ROM with tethering unlocked.

NO.
This will NOT WORK after the recent ATT Green battery software update. It'll brick your phone if you try.
