Undervolting the Atrix - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im currently running Alien #4 with kholk's 1.2 kernel and I was wondering if anyone had found some good undervoltages?
I know for a fact my device will freeze if I try to put it to -75mv on all the clock settings.

Good info here!

[Q] kernal without overclock for simply honey 3.8

I am running sinmply honey 3.8 revolution rom in my vibrant. But I do not like the overclock thing in the kernal. Can someone underclock it to 1Ghz and post.
Thanx.
By default it's not overclocked past 1GHz..it's up to users if they want to overclock further.
So there is no need for you to flash another kernel.
i looked under system info in Quadrant standard. It said 1.
2...so I thought its 1.2...Didn't know it's 1.0Ghz by deflection......thanx for the reply...

[Q] ROMs, Kernels and Overclocking, how does it work?

Hello all!
I'm a newbie who wants to know some more about ROMs and Kernels.
Here's the thing:
I have the awesome galaxy s2 and I definately want to flash Lite'ning ROM 1.5.
I also read about an easy overclock kernel here (using SetCPU app):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075061
1. Now, what I do not yet understand is: if I flash the necessary OC kernel, will this interfere with the Lite'ning ROM (which has the KF2 kernel)?
2. If so, is there another way to do an easy overclock on the Lite'ning ROM?
I'm looking for CPU speeds of about 1.4 to 1.5 Ghz, just to get that little bit of extra performance.
I also looked at the Tegrak OC, but I don't think I know enough to mess with the voltages... Or how to even do that
3. So, how do ROMs and Kernels work (in short)? Can I flash any Kernel on any ROM?
4. And can you install multiple Kernels working next to eachother? Or will some Kernels interfere with eachother?
I searched the forums for good explanations, but thusfar haven't found any.
Sorry for being a noob! I'm really trying to read up, but it's more difficult than I had expected.
Some Noob-Proof explanation would be much appreciated!
Numbered the questions I have at the moment
Thank you!
I cant answer all your questions but i'll do my best
2) have a look at tekrak overclock and this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14973796&postcount=531 the first part is about undervolting which is great and the last section is about what voltage to overclock your galaxy s2 at
Basically, the voltage is how much energy your battery puts through the system, including gpu and cpu, so if you overclock you need more energy and dont worry about crashing, it just reboots and asks you if you want the previous settings and you say no (write down your previous settings though) and then lower the voltage and try again and so on
3) roms are basically modified versions of android and kernels can be flashed on most roms, im not sure about the official ones
Thats all i know about so i hope it helped you
PM me if you want some help with undervolting or overclocking, i dont tend to overclock as i dont see the point, my phones already so fast
Thank you!
That Naphtaline guide about voltages seems really helpful
I do need the Tegrak Ultimate app to set all the voltages right?
The free one doesn't seem to include that.
I'll have a look into it anyway.
And I recall that I do not need to flash another kernel if I use this Tegrak OC right?
Almost sure I read that somewhere in the Lite'ning ROM thread.
Appreciate the help!
I think the free one includes voltages just no settings for the gpu, but i could be wrong
Not sure about the Tegrak kernel, but no harm in it
No problem, just pm me if anything goes wrong or you have some questions
yeah that Naphtaline guide is just classy keep up the gud work guyz

[Q] Underclock/undervolt

hi,
I want to change from Alien to Aura ( I have the RAM problem in Alien and I didn't know how to fix it ).
I decided to change to Aura. But i don't want to have the phone overclocked, 1ghz is more than enough for me, and the battery life is the most important thing.
I couldn't find the best configuration for my situation, i checked in the undervolt post, but i didn't find anything...
Can you guys help me?
Thank you!
You need to install faux123 kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
If you want "only" 1GHZ, install the kernel: Enhanced Stock Kernel, Max @ 1.0 GHz (for Gingerbread).
Then you can undervolting using SetCPU or other apps to reduce power consumption and getting better battery life. See some values here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183059
*Go to latest pages for values for this kernel.

[Q] Wich kernel have the best compatibility?

Hi there, I just installed CM7 stable and faux123, but now PES2012 dont work
Im sure that faux123 will release a new version soon, but for my surprise there are 3 good unoficial kernel for atrx:
FAUX123: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
CLEMSYN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354502
KHOLK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153003
So wich one on its stock clock version 1.0Ghz, are most compatible (runs every game that 2.2.2 did) and most durable (battery life)?

I know what you mean about games stop running on different kernels. I have one game in particular that is very picky and only seems to run on darkside lite 3.1.0 (you could also do the 3.1.2 update) but if I flash any kernel over the top besides the one it comes with such as fauxs the game stops working. So for me i just flash darkside lite with no kernel for picky games. and then have a nandroid backup of cm7 with the faux 1.45 overclock for other stuff I want to do. I literally switch between roms all the time! Depending what I have the need for for the week or day.
Faux123 is the best IMO for stability and battery life.
I'm on an international atrix and I use faux's 1.0 ghz cm7 ext-4 kernel

[Q] Kernel Advice Required for OC

Hi All,
I recently upgraded my Atrix to custom ROM MIUI V 2.4.27 for the Atrix and I have noticed that it lists under the "About Phone" section Dual Core 1.5Ghz.
Now I'd like to know which Kernel you guys would recommend I load?
This build of MIUI is running ICS 4.0.4 and I already have SetCPU installed but without the right kernel it won't let me go past 1GHz.
Cheers.
I have sorted myself out with the right Kernel from Jokersax.
As the MIUI is based on CM9, I went to the following page:
[ sorry can't post outside links... google jokersax cm9 atrix instead
And installed the cm9 1.3 v4 kernel under the "cwm flashables" section.
I did this by saving the zip to the SD card.
Rebooting into recovery mode, and then clearing the CACHE and DALVIK CACHE followed by flashing it to the desired kernel.
If you're going to try this, also put in the 1.0 V4 kernel onto the SD card at the same time as when you're copying the 1.3 v4 Kernel just incase the 1.3 kernel isn't stable.
If it isn't, you can simply reboot into recovery mode and reflash to the 1.0 kernel.
This thread can now be closed but may be useful for others searching for similar information.
What clock speed are you running at?
Hi Alex,
I'm running at 1.3GHZ all day no problems. Been running 1.3 now for over 48hours and battery life is good and no glitches / random reboots.
Under SetCPU it is set to range between 216MHZ and 1300MHZ.
I'm now using Kernel "Atrix-CM9-Kernel-025b-ext4-1.45GHz" which I have been running for about 24hrs and it is stable after countless benchmarks I have thrown at it.
This is with the CM9 MIUI 2.4.27 build I'm running.
Love it.
