No, because that would be warez (& against the forum rules)
Notch has said that it will be released on other Android devices soon.
They have stated that the Xperia exclusivity is temporary, so they had to develop it with other devices in mind. I wouldn't be surprised if it already worked, although there may be some simple device security checks that need to be stripped out.

Fair enough & same.
Can't wait for a version that will work on the HTC Sensation.
Maybe just a build.prop edit?

That's what I was figuring, not a whole edit of the package which may lead into piracy territory
I think one of the reasons they released it exlusively to the xperia play is that it has a game pad. They will have to add a virtual game pad for it to be usable on any other phone and I think they are still probably working on it, unless anyone can confirm they already have a working virtual game pad...
Hey guys, I have it running on my Captivate. works just fine. Except... I can't control it =P
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221140
made a thread about it with a link to the demo version apk. figured out that you can use a ps3 controller with Bluetooth to control part of the game.
Sent from my MIUI SCH-i500
i found a copy of the demo thats been fixed so it installs, not telling where but it's not hard to find.
i've tried it on my cappy and my nook color, it'll start on both, but screen isn't centered and touchscreen menus are off on the NC. the game only runs for about 30-60 seconds before locking up.
the ps3 controller with the sixaxis bluetooth drivers works but needs to be remapped. right stick doesn't work for looking around.
Is it not possible to mimick the xperia buttons? Such as wasd being dpad and aim trackball?
found the xperia key mappings from the official Sony blog but they still don't work right when remapped.

Hi all,
I'm very interested in getting Minecraft Pocket Edition working on other devices.
I think I'm getting close to figuring out how the Xperia Play sends the events to the apps.
However, in order to make my life easier and not search mindlessly through the kernel, it would be extremely helpful if someone who had a rooted Xperia Play would run the command 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices' and post the result here. ('su' before that, of course)
All 'cat' does it read text from the file '/proc/bus/input/devices'. (it won't email me your texts )
In case no one with a rooted Xperia Play sees this, I'll keep wading through the kernel to see if I can find it on my own.
Thanks,
John
Cant wait to have it to work! I purchase a pc licence Hope it will work on pocket edition...
I have a Samsung Fascinate so no sixaxis (wont work) many game have virtual keyboard hopefully it will be quick...
flamesbladeflcl, witch version are you using?
Thank's have a good day
Its best to leave it up to the crackers which is beyond the scope of xda.
The main issue is the controls.
Also there are clones of minecraft out there for all devices.
I have poked around a bit and found a way to enable looking-around in the MCP using touchscreen. It is a quick hack, so you loose the ability to use the touchscreen while navigating the menus.
All I did is replace all the touchscreen events with the touchpad ones. So the game thinks that your touchscreen is a big touchpad.

Hi,
Would like to know if there is plans on PS Groove development for Xperia x10. I think many people would appreciate this.
Thanks and good work btw on the bootloader so far.
Hey have a look at this link ;-)
PSGroove being ported to Android Devices!
Sony will have it patched before it gets done, so it's going to be quickly irrelevant anyways.
Do you know that for a fact or is it just one of your many assumptions...
Cuz last i heard from the "hacker" team that made the psjailbreak code that not even them are too sure on any of the sides, nobody actually knows.
And cuz the ps3 is open to homebrew, whats the difficulty of patching the update string? I mean they already have made "stalth gaming" possible by editing sertain files...
And the ps3 has a HUGE game library that personally for me just thats enough cuz i almost never play online on it.
I bought a AVR chip with PSGroove support so to speak. I will have it on Monday, but if i knew it would be developed for Android i wouldnt have bought it.
So belive me, not too many ppl care "if" Sony patches it... And even if they do, the exploit cannot be patched, its a lot like the iPhone Jailbreak.
Let the Cat&Mouse game begin...
This project tickles the very core of my geekdom. Not so much because it opens up the PS3 for piracy but but because it's a completely insane yet feasible and even kinda logical concept.
Emulating an 8mhz Atmel on the Snapdragon? Very doable.
Proper hardware access to the USB port? With rooted phone, you have it.
So theoretically it's possible and if it comes to fruition we'll be able to "root" the PS3 by hooking up our cellphones to it and running some software. I don't know about you guys but for me that would be a serious contender for the "Epic hack of the year" award.

PSFreedom was release for N900 :

KaKaRoTo said that the driver can be adapted to the others devices :

By writing this exploit as a standard linux driver, this means that my module can be used on any other linux-enabled devices.. this means not only the N900, but also the 770, N800, N810, Android phones and future Meego devices. It might need a little porting for some devices though, but it should still work…

I'm looking at what parts need to be modified and if porting it is even possible to begin with. Both Maemo and Android run Linux kernels but that's about it as far as similarities go. Even though it's a separate kernel module it needs to have certain options built into the kernel. If those bits aren't there we're SOL.
Update: The configuration file for the stock kernel indicates that the USB chipset supports HCD (Host Controller Driver) mode at least.

*meh* Screw donations, the hacking itself is reward enough.
Source code is @ http://github.com/kakaroto/PSFreedom

Q: What do I need to use PSFreedom on my N900 ?
A: First, you need a N900 (duh) and a PS3 (duh) with firmware 3.41. The N900 should be running the stock kernel (-omap1) not a modified kernel. Then you just need to scp the files to the N900 and run the -enable script.
Q: How much of the source is Nokia N900 specific? Are you using the Linux USB Gadgets library?
A: Very little is N900 specific, I’m using the include/linux/gadget.h if that’s what you mean. See next Q/A for more info.
Q: How hard is it to port it to a new device ?
A: Well, I’ve just separated my code from the N900 specific stuff, so it’s quite easy, there are mainly two functions to write, one to get and one to set the USB address.. two other functions that only return some static result depending on the configuration of the controller (the name of the endpoints, and whether the controller supports high speed or full speed mode).
Read the README file provided with PSFreedom, and check the psfreedom_machine.c file for specifics on what to implement.
Q: How can I port it to a new device.
A: Well, first, you need to figure out what controller your device uses, in the case of the N900, it’s ‘musb’..
Then go to the driver code for that controller (probably in drivers/usb/gadget) and look for ‘SET_ADDRESS’. In the case of musb, it was in drivers/usb/musb/musb_gadget_ep0.c. In there it was setting the address to the USB device, so just copy that code into the psfreedom_machine.c to allow setting the address, and add a similar function to be able to retreive the address.
Then add a function to return 0 or 1 depending on whether the controller supports HIGH, FULL or LOW speed mode (go to usb_gadget_register_driver for your controller, and in the first lines, it should validate the speed argument, it will tell you which ones are acceptable), set LOW speed mode to return TRUE only if FULL speed isn’t available .
Finally, add a function to return the endpoint names.. it will usually be something like ‘epXin’ and ‘epXout’ (where X is the endpoint number), or “epXin-bulk”, etc.. look at how the driver initializes its endpoints or grep for “->name” in the file to find where it sets it…
That should be enough!
Ok this is it for now with the FAQ. Next time, I’ll tell you all about my experience, what problems I encountered and how I fixed them, maybe it will help others!
Enjoy it!

There's doesn't seem to much in development happening I've put my name down for beta testing but who knows if i get in.
Maybe if there's someone working on the netzke team build they could let us know some info.
Time for a quick update on my research.
From what I can find out about the X10 through config-files and /proc it looks like it uses the msm72k driver. By comparing that with the musb driver and looking at how PSFreedom uses musb it doesn't look impossible to get it running with the msm72k driver.
Right now I'm looking at how to get/set the device address and endpoint. Getting the endpoint name is pretty straight-forward but getting the physical address needed is slightly trickier. But I'll keep hammering away on it.
Warning: My attention-span is really short so odds are I'll keep working on this in bursts. So while there's a big chance I'll get it working soonish you shouldn't hold your breath.
Cool hope to see a update when i wake up thanks very much for your time.
I have a confirmed spot in the beta testing for the android port by netzke. I can let everyone know what it's like when it is released to beta testers.

Don't get your hopes up, the project is a textbook example of a scam.
It bugs me that he's raking in cash with nothing to show for it while others (like myself) are doing 12+ hour hackruns. :/
Well I haven't spent 12 hours coding, most of the time has been spent working on circumventing the limitations of the stock kernel and figuring out the hardware.

I was wondering this stuff myself. I've got a Rhodium I was thinking of booting Rhobuntu on just so I could carry Cave Story with me everywhere. I was also looking into GP2X emulators for Android in case that would let me play Cave Story on my Rhodium via XAndroid, but a native Android app would be ideal. Bounty? I'd pitch in for a port.
The source for Cave Story was taken down when it was announced that there was a version being made for WiiWare.
I am disappoint.
Guess I'll have to jam some Linux onto a phone then.

EDIT: OK, I get it - open source! It took me this long because I'm a big dummy.
I know this thread is a tad old but actually, i am trying to port cave story to android. It will be open source when it is released as required by gpl (anyone wanting the source now can pm me). I have it loading into "safe mode" so far as the data directories still have to be defined manually as far as i know. Another bug i found is that it will not even load up in landscape mode at the moment. Its a problem with SDL_blit_N.c according to my crash reports. Attached is a screenshot of what i have working so far. As this is open source, any help with this project will be appreciated. Again, just PM me for the source.

Wow, it looks great on my Droid 3! I don't think I'm getting any sound though, and trying to remap keys in the menu or pressing any hard keys other than arrows FCs the app. Too bad, as it looks like my phone is more than capable of handling a fully working version. I've even got hard keys, just not the right ones. It's painful to be so close but still so far from playing Cave Story on my phone. Thanks for keeping us up to date on stuff like this.
EDIT: sound works great! I forgot there's no sound in the opening scene, I had to let the start menu load first. No stutter or anything, if my keyboard worked in-game I'd be set.
SECOND EDIT: I was able to start a game and assign keys! The app crashes when I press most buttons, but it recognizes my arrow keys and the ok, shift, alt, voice, search, and at keys, so I'm all set. Won't let me remap them though, and now that I'm playing it does seem to be running at about half speed. Not that there's any lag, everything seems to just move more slowly, though the music plays full speed.

Nintendo exclusivity clause has the original developer by the balls, similar to Notch being locked into xBox Live Arcade and having to stop work on pocket edition of minecraft. What we have is the game patches and an engine cobbled together out of older source. I'll try and get some responses from the people who got the Raspberry Pink version working, and see what can be done.

This is not the place to pose this question. The place to ask would be Rootzwiki, where the dev's can be found. There you'll find changelogs and sourcecode for just about everything, and you can certainly make changes and compile it yourself.
If you honestly and seriously know what you're talking about, and think you can help, the dev team would probably be very appreciative of assistance. Meaning, if you can code that stuff, great- lend a hand. But if you're just curious, then try to research your question without nagging the devs. They work hard, and for free. You could begin researching the topic, here.
Now, in answer to your question. I could be wrong. I'm just a simple Java/C# coder who can also do a bit of web. But it was my understanding that the driver is the issue. The source code for the kernel has been released, but (also as I understood it, I could be wrong) the entire kernel was not released. The drivers for mic and cam, however, were not released (again, if I understood correctly). So there's the problem. And further, the cam and mic are not at the top of the devs' list of priorities. They are working on other stuff that they feel is more important, about which I tend to agree, unknowingly. I mean, they recently (in the last 4-6 weeks) got us hardware acceleration working (in several applications, but not all). What I mean to say, is that there are bigger fires to be put out that users don't typically see as fires. But also, the cam and mic drivers not being released is a pretty big chunk of code. AFAIK they were going to have to begin to write these from scratch, which is a pretty hefty challenge that they've chosen not to undertake at this point. That's their prerogative, and I'm not going to nit-pick about that.
Basically, if you need cam and mic, you can install CM7 (which has bugs of its own) or you can boot into webOS. Those are our options at the moment.

Btw, can anyone give me the specs of the power supply? I'm interested mostly in the Voltage input range. Since I'm going to use it in EU I'd like to know if I need another power supply or I can hook it up to a wallplug adapter. Would be great if the input range is 110-240V.
The power supply takes 100-240v ~50-60Hz, max 0.6A
Super duper standard.

Are you sure that uploaded APK is the one for the Vizio CoStar? I believe they have a few versions based on the chipset of the client device. I tried it and it force closes.

I pulled the ge.tt file from my co-star using adb, it was in /data/app I don't know too much as to why the force closes would happen. I have had that happen for a lot of side loaded apps I thought should work also. Did you try rebooting it?
There might be some other files required for it to run, I'm not sure how to find out what they are though.

I'm going to try it again tonight when I get home through a hard boot and see if it works. Word from OnLive is they plan to release the client this winter for all platforms, but I'm impatient =)
Thanks!
Has there been an official forum made for this project yet?
I'd like to track it and this thread seems like it died off.
Any thing?

Has anyone seen any update on this anywhere? I've had the Co-star since launch and have been wanting to root it since release. Honestly I just wish I could put ICS or JB on it and run 'normal' Android apps on it, the app selection is so much better there.

I to would love to see this. I would be willing to make a generous donation for this. I wouls like to be able to download my games and use the Onlive universial wireless controller.
Damn I didn't think the Co-Star would be tougher to crack then all the android phones out there.

The thing that makes me sad is the Co-Star has a bonafide hack out there that's been demoned a few places. It's been out since release, but I have yet to see any updates on how to actually DO IT =(.
I wish someone would document how to hack it so at least others can take up the task of re-roming it if those who hacked it aren't willing.
The good old Smiley, to make the reading happier:
I am looking for suggestions.
What could I use my Lapdock for, now that I made the switch to CyanogenMod?
Is there a good solution for making the VNC'ed ARM Ubuntu (look for Ubuntu Installer in the Play Store) work better with the touchpad? Should I sell it? Is there a solution to make remote control apps such as TeamViewer or Splashtop integrate with the Lapdock's keyboard and touchpad? Is there any way to make the device switch to Tablet mode without rebooting? That would be rather interesting to see. By the way, the CM9 ROM I am currently running has got Landscape HDMI working flawlessly, so that should not be an issue...
PS: Please do not ignore this thread. Any suggestions are welcome! (Use your common sense though)

I've struggled with the same question on my photon.. If there's working hdmi rotation on your CM, you can still use it for typing out documents, etc. I also used the mirror mode to watch movies on a larger(than phone) screen in bed.
But eventually I just decided to go back to a blur rom and use ubuntop (which is awesome) while waiting for official ICS and someone hopefully porting ubuntu 12.04 to webtop..
Paranoid Android Rom
I don't understand why canonical hasn't leaked that awesome ubuntudroid system they showed off.. there isn't an easier way to get feedback especially since webtop has died and windows 8 is pushing hard into that whole 'blur the lines' market

Maybe they are waiting for the unified linux/android kernel 3.4 this would most certainly make it easier to port and updates trivial.

Currently, I use it for watching movies as well, and I am looking forward to pairing a Wii Remote and/or a DualShock® 3 to my Atrix™, so that I can play some games such as GTA III and Shadowgun (Max Payne *-*) on the big screen.
I was happy with Blur until the day I ran into that tempting CM9 thread. I did not know what smoothness and responsiveness really were. Blur was the smoothest I thought it could ever get... But I was wrong, and now I have to choose between fluidity and Webtop.
I actually went back to Blur some months ago, but unfortunately, prolonged use of ICS can cause dependence. Believe it or not, I was pretty happy with Blur. Webtop was working flawlessly, I even had BackTrack installed, but then came the relapse: I could no longer resist to ICS. I am now back to CM9, and with it comes my dilemma...
I am looking for a way to use the Atrix™ as a more desktop-ish platform when docked (especially to the Lapdock). I believe the ideal would be Ubuntu through a local VNC client, or a remote desktop app, I just wish they would play nicer with the keyboard and touchpad...
Basically, something like a key mapper (easy-to-use, I am still unable to figure out WiiMoteController's key mapping scheme) for Lapdock's hardware. We could make a keyboard-powered Ouya!
What still concerns me though, is that games would not be optimized for it e.g. Minecraft PE, games where the camera angle for example, is controlled by dragging the screen, so it would have to be a really powerful, but easy-to-use key mapper, and since you can't have everything in life, I'm afraid I'm asking for much...

What I understand from your reply is that the Paranoid Android ROM could put my Lapdock back to use. But what is the Paranoid Android ROM? What makes it different from other ROMs? How could it (at least partially) solve my problem?
Please be more specific.

When the official Ubuntu for Android was announced, even though an Atrix 2 was used for the hands-on part, on the project's official hotsite... It was clearly an Atrix™ 4G standing there on the dock. The differences between our device's design and the Atrix 2's or the Defy's (Defy+'s) are not that obvious, but they are, indeed, noticeable.
You do know what that means, don't you? It means it is almost certain that our device will be on the first batch of officially supported devices!
I don't if the Atrix™ is still there, but if it's not, I can try to find the screenshot I took if you'd like.
I am so proud!

What do you mean? It would have to be ported to each supported device anyway, wouldn't it?

I have never thought I'd say this but, "Please don't get off-topic". I'd appreciate it if this gets settled in a new thread or via PM.
Anyway, you said "stock UbunTop", I could be wrong, but I think it's either stock or UbunTop, which is a mod born right here on our neighbor forum, Android Development.
If yours is really stock, I suggest you get BackTrack from the BackTop project, I don't it's got aircrack built-in, and I was unable to install it, so unless you're an experienced hacker, don't get too excited with BackTrack's features, but my point is: It is amazingly faster than Webtop, it seems lighter, I used to be able to run more than 3 different apps simultaneously...
If yours is really running UbunTop I'm afraid I cannot assist you, since webtop2sd never worked for me and BackTop and WebtopMOD were the only I could ever manage to get working on my device...

I can answer this. What he meant is that you should use Paranoid. Paranoid is a rom thats an hybrid of a phone an a tablet, in short words, you can activate tablet mode for some apps, while some other apps still run in phone-mode, for the ease of use.
What I actually meant was to give a name and a designation, which I did.
Google paranoid android rom and you get the website, the website has a much better explanation then I could or should have to provide.
But yes in short it can give you a tablet UI on lapdock.

I did before you guys answered and after I posted my reply, and was about to post an apology to you, my friend (Random Canadian).
Sometimes my brain takes just way too long to figure some things out...
I am sorry.
Anyway, thank you very much! This might just solve it all!
