Hey guys, im sure theres a thread about this already and please dont pick on me, i just cant find it for the love of me, plus my boss is on my ass about computer time.
can someone please point me in the direction of unlocking the bootloader on a atrix that came with the official 2.3.4 update. i really hate blur and i want to install a custom rom, i have superuser and cwm installed i just need to unlock the bootloader
This thread is how I did it. Pretty painless. Make sure you read the thread before you do it though. The OTA update will soft brick your phone before you issue the unlock command. Be sure to thank the original poster.

Hey everybody thanks for looking in I just recently shifted from the t-mobile g2 and my new atrix is arriving in a week and I'm really excited I've been using htc devices since forever and this is my first motorola device so I'm a little new to the .sbf file system and all and the bootloaders..
I'm a rom fiend and i need my fix also i need to sideload apps.. and need to sim unlock my phone as well.. the phone will be running 2.2 and its factory sealed.
What my question is that can someone point to me a noob friendly guide and also what to start of with? ( i mean should i sim unlock first, BL unlock first or root)
Thanks a lot!
Hello and welcome to the Atrix side of android!
Boot Loader unlock http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader
Once you have that boot-loader nice and unlocked and good to go your are going to need a decent recovery environment.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
Then when you have your recovery environment set up and ready its time for a good ROM to top the project off.
When it comes to picking your rom its mostly about your personal choice.
The two that I have been going back and for on are CheeryBlur
Link
And the Ninja Rom
Link
If you are just getting started I would strongly recommend going with CherryBlur to start as it gives you everything that you should need from the start.
As for root if you use one of these roms you will have it by default.

hello how are want to know how I can update ota motorola Atrix 2.3.6 at&t on my phone knowing that I have version 2.3.4 and bootloader unlocked root ... I want to make this change without a hard brick my phone
I believe I still have the files I updated mine to 2.3.6 with, let me see if I can find you the thread I got them from or I can just re-up them myself.
---edit--
Alright the files I used are in this post. They're installable through CWM, and I am assuming since you're rooted and unlocked you know how to do that? If not just let me know man and I'll see if I can't find you a how-to thread or just search for one. Have fun on 2.3.6 bro!
(I'm kind of new with this Q&A stuff so if anyone has some "words of wisdom" to add, please, be my guest )
Hi there! Just now I bought a new HTC Flyer 16GB wifi only, I just want to root it and s-off, im very sorry to all who will be reading it but I just want to know what is the latest HBOOT and Recovery for HTC Flyer WIFI. i just already updated it over the air into Honeycomb 3.2 and I feel my device is so laggy.I've got confused in some of the instruction there in the thread and i'm asking your kind heart if you can help me to know and to got the correct version / links so I can root it rightly. Is there no possibility for me to brick it? and if I brick it, it's easy to unbrick it or not? Thank you very much for your kind help and I really apppreciate all the help that you can share. Thank you very much and sorry for my awful question
Your goal is back to gb?
if ever i root my device? is it possible also to install custom rom with Ginger bread version even though im in Honeycomb official version?
Not without downgrading your hboot
Flyer
so it means i can only install Honeycomb custom ROM unless i will downgrade my hboot, if ever i downgrade my hboot, both HC and GB I can install?
by the way thanks for the info.
Just check out kevinrocksman multi toolkit
I would rather use telepathy but I'm stuck in a Dark Age.
thanks for the info i'll try to google it,and one more thing, can anyone tell me what is the latest hboot for honeycomb? sorry just a noob for this kind
He has Flyer not View.
To run HC u need HC hboot. To run GB u need GB hboot. So whenever u want to migrate from one to another u not onlly need to change rom but Hboot as well.
To perma root it u have 2 choices Soff method via revolutionary or HTC unlock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307759 To get Soff and root on GB from your curent HC.
Thank you so much for the guide, I will follow what you instructed, One more question, if ever there's a tendency to brick it, is it easy also to unbrick the device? Actually this is the first time i will root a device, my evo3d was rooted by my friend and he is out there to help me. Thanks again for your kind help
I seen people being stuck at diferent steps/results and i belive most were resolved by experienced ppl on this forum (points at globathron for example)
Sorry my bad I've been stuck w no hboot on the View all day lost focus.

After doing little digging in , found few things about unlocking bootloader , rooting and flashing some root apps.. but our beloved device seems to be under the shackles of oem. Rooting and installing system apps comes with a price, u cannot update if there is any system updates from oem.
Created this thread hoping that someone can find some way of breaking these shackles. Anyone who knows a way of rooting and installing system apps without breaking system updates from oem, please share your ideas here.. I've been a long time flashaholic and this is what I used to do with my previous phone which is OnePlus one.
Unlock bootloader, root, install few root apps that I like such as viper 4 android. And when there is new ota updates from oem I'll flash stock firmware which will remove root so that I can update the phone with oem ota, after that I'll root again..
This seems to be impossible here.. if someone have some ideas please share..
Ps. If someone feels like this thread is unnecessary pls feel free to do the needful. Thanks.
Found this new nokia flash tool and steps with download links for stock roms.. could someone let me know if this is legit ? I'm pasting the website link here so that people can check that, pls forgive me if it's not allowed

Tried this myself and found that the fastboot for our device doesn't recognise the bootloader unlocking fastboot commands.. also found in few posts that earlier we were able to unlock bootloader in some old firmware and after that it was disabled by hmd.. I didn't want to go to some old firmware to do this, need to find a way to do this from Android 10. will keep trying to find more and update here.. I think we a need to wait till hmd decides to allow is to unlock bootloader.. meanwhile if someone else found something pls so share here.. thanks.

Definitely legit, he is the main developer for our device.
You are correct on the bootloader.
You need to be on earlier Android 9.0 firmware, I think Ver. 331 (not positive) or earlier. To be able to unlock bootloader. If you can figure a way to downgrade, then you can do it.
That is the current roadblock.
Once you have the bootloader unlocked it will stay unlocked.
You can then accept updates and or flash custom ROMs as you wish.
Can't offer a fix, but hope the information helps.
Now we don't need for downgrading to Android 9. XDA Senior @singhnsk has discovered a way to unlock the bootloader while on Android 10. You can reach him for remote unlock method (paid). It takes only around 15 mins.
Edit: Now the devs has released an unlocking method for Nokia 7.2 & 6.2 which is completely free and can be done by yourself!
Check out the thread here for free unlocking guide!
