Just now I bought a new HTC Flyer 16GB wifi only, I just want to root it and s-off, im very sorry to all who will be reading it but I just want to know what is the latest HBOOT and Recovery for HTC Flyer WIFI. i just already updated it over the air into Honeycomb 3.2 and I feel my device is so laggy.I've got confused in some of the instruction there in the thread and i'm asking your kind heart if you can help me to know and to got the correct version / links so I can root it rightly. Is there no possibility for me to brick it? and if I brick it, it's easy to unbrick it or not? Thank you very much for your kind help and I really apppreciate all the help that you can share. so it means i can only install Honeycomb custom ROM unless i will downgrade my hboot, if ever i downgrade my hboot, both HC and GB I can install?

He has Flyer not View.
To run HC u need HC hboot. To run GB u need GB hboot. So whenever u want to migrate from one to another u not onlly need to change rom but Hboot as well.
To perma root it u have 2 choices Soff method via revolutionary or HTC unlock.

I seen people being stuck at diferent steps/results and i belive most were resolved by experienced ppl on this forum (points at globathron for example)

I dont know much about the Evo, but try the Forum, as there are many guides over there as well as the WIKI, if you dont know where they are, ask me

I know, there are several tutorials who explain, how to root a HTC Legend HBOOT 1.01.
I created a goldcard successfully, but now, the tutorial I want to use, this one, tells me in its second step, I should already have a rooted phone, but I'm using the tutorial to root this phone ?!
How should I already have a rooted phone in a tutorial which tells me how to root it?
Btw, next step of the tutorial is, to downgrade the legend to 1.31.
Can I use this tutorial too? [HOWTO] DOWNGRADE to 1.31 which you can then root for Legend 2.1
Please, can someone bring me back on the right way, I am confused and read too much different tutorials, don't know which one to follow now.
My target is a working CM7 with CWR on my mates legend.

you need a Legend with version 2.1 of Android if you want to root your phone - and part of the 2.1 software suite includes RUU ver.1.31 which is the last version allowing us to upload to our own devices.
1. First you make a goldcard making it possible to downgrade your otherwise locked firmware in your phone as your goldcard unlocks Android 2.2 on your Legend.
2. Then you install Android 2.1 which includes RUU 1.31 making it possible to upgrade/update/exchange the ROM as you please as it is locked in later versions after version 1.31.
3. You find a good ROM on and follow one of the many guides on this page TO THE LETTER - ROM on sdcard and so on
4. Flash, Enjoy and press Thanks to the people who gave you the ROM
i want to root my flyer without s-off.
i chose temp root way to root my flyer, before i update my flyer to android 2.3.4, but it seem not work on 2.3.4.
so, may i ask how to root with out s-off on the official update?
due to my poor english, i can find the information i need, quickly.

Hi I have a wildfire s on 3UK, HBOOT 1.03.0000, s-on, android 2.3.3 htc sense 2.1 and software number 1.33771.5. Ive tried all ways to unlock the bootloader for my phone so that I can put a custom rom on it but when im going through htcdev it wont let me do the update to 2.17.0.0 Im getting error code 191 rom is not supported. Is there anyway you can help me please as this is getting on my nerves now after reading god knows how many different threads. I have never done this before either and am bit of a beginner. If you can help my in basic and easy to understand steps that would be great. I also have clockwork mod installed on my device but it wont let me do a recovery???

This thread contains all the info you need to get s-off and downgrade hboot. You need to downgrade hboot to run aosp roms like cm10 Aokp or evervolv.
The best recovery is 4EXT.
If you are unable to get unlock token using htcdev someone else might be able to do it for you. You just have to provide that code for unlock token.
