[Q] How to flash AT&T radio 1.97 on International device - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So it would seem that this radio seems to be a favorite among people for solving everything from upload and download speeds to battery life.
I have been trying to get this radio on my phone for a while with no success.
Is there a special method for international users (im a Bell user) to flash this radio successfully?
I have noticed that some international users DO have this radio running on their phone so that's why im hoping there's a way for me to do the same.
cheers

You can flash an sbf with JUST THE RADIO I'm pretty sure.
Try the fruit cake thread as well

[Updated: Aug 4th] Radio Flashing - HTC Touch Pro (CDMA Only) *12 Radios Available*

**DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE RADIOS ON A GSM PHONE! YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICK IF YOU DO! ON THE SAME NOTE, DO NOT USE ANY GSM RADIOS ON A CDMA PHONE OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICK!**
I take no credit for acquiring these radios. This is simply a collection of information from various sources (mainly PPCGeeks forums). I hope everyone finds it useful.
Does my phone have to be unlocked in order to flash my radio?
- Yes. If you do not know how to unlock your phone, use the SEARCH feature. There are plenty of threads with help on unlocking your phone.
How do I find out what radio I'm currently running?
- Dial ##786# and scroll down to "Firmware Version" and that will tell you which version radio you are running.
Can I use any radio for any carrier?
- Yes! You can mix and match all of these radios with different CDMA carriers. For instance I am currently under contract with Sprint but I'm using a Verizon radio with absolutely no problems. Get it?
Which radio is best for me?
- Too many variables come into play when it comes to your radio on your phone. The BEST way to find out which radio is best for you is to flash it and try it! Give it a couple of days and then try another. I know it's a P.I.T.A. but it is absolutely the very best way to figure out what is best for your phone.
How can I view my signal levels?
- ##33284# is the DEBUG menu. Under here you should look at the following 3 sections (the closer to 0 you are, the better):
Rx Power
Rx Ec/Io
Rx FER
For those of you having issues with the DEBUG menu flashing quickly and returning to the dialer screen, try this cab. Fix Debug Menu
If I flash my radio, does it hard reset my phone?
- Absolutely NOT! It will simply soft reset with no loss of data.
Why should I flash a new radio version on my phone?
- Increased reception reliability & increased battery life. It's simple. The less roaming you do, the better your battery life.
How do I flash my radio?
- The flashing process is IDENTICAL to the ROM flashing process.
1. Download a radio RAR or ZIP file from below
2. Extract the contents of the RAR or ZIP file
3. Plug in your phone to your computer via USB and select ActivSync
4. Execute the "ROMUpdateUtility" and follow the prompts
5. Wait for reboot
6. Done
Note: There is currently no Alltel or Bell stock Touch Pro radio dump. What this means is that if you are currently an Alltel or Bell customer and wish to flash your radio, after the flash you will NOT be able to go back to the stock radio. The Alltel radio listed below was ported from the Diamond. Please consider this BEFORE flashing!!
RADIOS:
ALLTEL

the Sprint 1.11 was also ported from an official Diamond upgrade. and thanks for posting the radios over here!
I knew I would forget something. Thanks!
Thanks for the instructions very useful.
Excellent! Thank you for this!
I had asked about this a few days ago and I just went this morning to PPCGeeks to find the radios...and ofcourse after a search I did find them, but having them here as well doesn't hurt! =)
I'm glad everyone is finding this useful. I know I wish some of those questions were answered when I first started trying different radios.
I'm a little confused, did I miss something
I have a sprint HTC touch pro. I have the mighty rom 5.0 on it. I saw your instruction to flash to get the radio. I've successfully flashed it, but where is the radio? How do I listen to the radio?

the radio is the firmware that connects to the cell towers. for reception purposes , not FM radio.

I could me mistaken but none of those are "radio only" dumps. Those are full stock ROM dumps. This thread is dedicated to "radio only" flashing.
thanks for posting this. I understand the purpose of this tread, but just to clarify...If you wanted to flash back to the stock radio for the TP you could flash the original rom correct?
Also when I dial ##786# it flashes for a split second then disappears. (I have Alltel TP)

Try ##778# or ##778 "Send" and see if that works for you.
I have a Sprint version and that might be the difference. Can anyone confirm this?
Question, does this affect the EVDO connection as well, such as if I switch to the Verizon radio (I am on Sprint) will this effect the receive on my EVDO?

It will affect your speed either for better or worse. It will not affect the actual ability for you to connect to the service. For lack of a better word it's a different "antenna" for your phone.
New Radio from Alltel
There is a new radio from Alltel that might look good in the collection.. Check out HTC Support for Alltel touch pro to download their latest update.

[Q] AT&T radio on Internation Atrix?

Back in the pre-pudding days, flashing an AT&T radio on an International Atrix was a bad idea. Now that our bootloaders are unlocked, is that still the case? Is the worst that can happen a soft brick, or are there harder bricks waiting to happen?
It's safe to fastboot protocol with RSDlite. I did it the other day tryng a newer radio sbf. Worked fine. The problem from what I've been reading is downgrading to a previous version after updating with OTA.

im using at&t radio cwm flashable on a custom at&t 2.3.4 rom now with ram-fix kernel on my asia retail model (international). works fine so far. or if you don't want at&t radio you can try bell's latest radio as well. both works fine for at&t rom. for me at least.
you can download here att radio or bell radio
Hi Pennzoilgtr
Can you tell us exactly what rom - radio etc you are using and links to them if possible?
I have an international and find that custom roms are hard to find as most are for AT&T.
Thanks

i tried Alien by kp and nCrust both works.. for radio as long as you use AT&T rom, you need to flash att or bell radio in order to work properly.. att radio.
and flash this unified international o/c kernel with ram-fix all CWM friendly. works perfect with my asian atrix.
Thank you pennzoilgtr. will try cherry now...

[Q] DOs & DON'Ts (Intl vs ATT)

Hi to all,
I have bought an AT&T branded MB860 unlocked-SIM and unlocked-Bootloader. I use this phone in Europe with the CherryBlur v1.4d (shipped rooted and flashed - don't know the origins or the method used) and although I have read literally 200 pages it's been difficult just to figured out my choices in ROM selection. I feel comfortable with CherryBlur but I want to try some more. Up till now the only thing I undestand is to avoid sbf flashing especially previous stock roms, and avoid incompatible kernels and radios.
To cut a long story short:
-Should I search only for Orange France based ROMs? (Orange UK?)
-I have an international phone (because I operate it in Europe) or an ATT phone (because it was initially ATT branded)?
thanx!
If it's ATT branded it's att phone, no matter where you use it.

it's a MB860 (opposite to ME860) so can I flash alien or other ATT based ROMs and still remain operational in european networks?
it's the radio that allows your phone to operate with the local provider, not the ROM, per se. The ROMs will come with a radio, but you can flash a different radio after loading the ROM (well, obviously not every radio is gonna work on every ROM) - just search for 'radio' in the Atrix Android Development section.
I'm using the ATT Atrix in the UK on CM7, and I've had no problems!
I use my att atrix with att roms in spain. If unsure flash faux's kernel also which works in any atrix

flashing at&t rom/t-mobile radio

my mother just bought a rooted at&t galaxy note i717 from a friend and it is carrier unlocked. i have experience with flashing/rooting but i just wanted to ask the community before i do anything wrong... can i flash an at&t custom rom and a t-mobile radio?? are they interchangeable?? anyone have any good rom/radio combinations that work well?
it seems like this thread has a decent radio for the moment but the download links are down:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573568
thanks in advance..
I recommend using the flappjaxxx UCLF6 build 4.
And the T-Mobile radio ..
This device is very new , and development is just starting . Some users are reporting call quality issues, but most are running well on that combination ...g

[Q] Scored a Telstra HD2 off ebay, what radio can I flash?

G'day,
I scored a Telstra HD2 off eBay. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what Radio firmware I could flash to update the radio. Can I use a non-Telstra radio on my Telstra HD2, or will this brick it for sure? If I can flash a updated radio, will it enable any unsupported bands? For example, a Telstra 3G can't talk on 900Mhz 3G, but a normal HD2 can.
The reason I am considering upgrading the radio is because I'm thinking of using Windows Phone 7 on it.
Over to you, XDA Community!
Any radio (hspl required to flash radios)
Only radios with a x.xx.50 are suitable for use with magldr (go flash 2.15.50 then forget about it)
No, changing radios will never change the supported bands.
Followed your instructions, worked a treat.
+1 Thanks.
