Has anyone else had this problem with the latest version of Handcent SMS not flashing the LED, but keeping the LED on until I check the text? My setting have it flashing blue...
Haven't had any issue here on AT&T GB.

I'm gonna try and download other messaging apps to see if it works, if not then it's safe to say it's my ROM.
Well I just used GO SMS Pro and it flashed blue so that leads me to believe it's Handcent SMS which is the culprit.

So about handcent - I get no notifications whatsoever.
First I disabled stock SMS app notifications (because it rang twice on every SMS) and it worked fine. Then, when I tried the handcent widget, I suddenly stopped getting notifications. Even after removing the widget or reinstalling the app, still nothing.
dialerOne problem :
It's not really a dialer one problem, rather a stock dialer problem. After I click on a missed call notification, it opens up in both dialerOne and the stock dialer.
Hope somebody can help me...
Can you at least help me with the notification problem ?

Try chompSMS, free on marked..
It has apps even on the widget, so I think I'll rather stick with the stock app :-/
try removing handcent and reinstalling it (do a reboot in between).
nope, doesn't help
I would like to share my problem with you, I own a P-500 I bought last week and much prefer to use go sms pro instead of the stock rom application, because it's just ugly. The reason that I don't want to root it is for the guaranty I don't want to lose.
The problem is that even I read my sms with Go sms pro, the notification of unread messages still appears on the lock screen. Does someone have any solution? I tried with many of launchers, the results is the same.
1st of all, rooting does not void your guaranty, only if they find out that the phone was rooted. If you root, Install original lg fw through LG update tool when you want to send your phone to guaranty & you should be fine.
I wrote already a post about notifications. You have to disable notifications in default messaging app before you install a 3rd party msg app. I have not tried it with go sms, I had the same problem with it. But that was when I disabled notifications in default msg app afteri installed go sms. Now i'm using handcent sms, disabled notifications in default msg app before i installed handcent sms. Everything is fine & nothing's duplicated. I hope this helps.
first of all thanks for the reply, I tried to make like you said but it didn't change at all notifications on lock screen continue to appear... do you know if root can make something for that?

Did you uninstall go sms before turning off norifications in default sms app? If not, try that. Uninstall Go sms, reactivate notifications in default sms app.. do a reboot, deactivate notifications in default sms app & install go sms again. Do a reboot. If that does not help, try the same with Handcent sms. I like it a lot better than go sms btw hm rooting shouldnt change anything, rooting just gives you full access to the phone, thats all.

For many people, android 2.3 solves the problem with duplicate notifications on the lockscreen. But that does not solve the problem with duplicate notifications in the notification bar.. atleast not for me, I have tried android 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.2.2 & 2.3.3, custom & original roms. Now i'm on 2.2 Void.echo rom & have no problems with notifications.
I have the same problem. Of course notifications on lock screen under big clock isn't same that notifications on status bar. I use 2.2 root stock rom. My solve this problem - uninstall stock sms app - go sms are fully functional without stock app, even mms - but notifications about sms on lock screen disappear.
Handcent sms don't have this issue.
I wrote to go sms devs, but no respond.
Yeah I uninstalled and do all the stuff... before trying with Handcent, and it works but just with Handcent and no Go sms pro. That surely means that the problem comes from go sms, so for the moment I'll use Handcent waiting for the dev find a real way to solve the problem.
Thank to you two!
I'm coming from an iPhone 4 & one of the features I loved about it is the emoji/emoticons (smiley faces in text messages) I can send & receive with other iPhone/iPod/iPad users. Are there any apps I can send/receive emoji/emoticons with iPhone users (in otherwords, cross-platform)? I've read Handcent should be able to do this but won't be able to verify until my GNote arrives later today & activate it. Also, whatever new MMS messaging app(s) I download, I'm assuming I should disable text notification for the stock messaging app? Which one is the stock one? Thanks & looking forward to jumping ship!
GO SMS and then download the emjoi plugin and go sms is better the handcent. Handcent has a problem with mms at times cool little app but go sms is fast and easy to use.
That was helpful!

Yeah, I just read about Go SMS while using the search feature but didn't know if it could do emoji's. Thanks for the info & comparison, I'll download that! I'm assuming I should disable text notification for the stock messaging app? Which one is the stock one?
The stock messaging app is called "Messaging". I believe that GO SMS (which I also really like and use) actually gives the option to turn off the stock messaging notifications when you first download and open it (at least I remember that for some reason).

Thx, ya I'm gonna try out both & see which one I prefer.
Every time I send 1 SMS from Go SMS Pro , will receive 2 SMS with short intervals, how do I fix this probelm
Send 1=sends 2.
Had the same issue with stock ICS (Darky ROM), couldn't fix it. I eventually switched back to stock mms app. It works fine with CM9, btw.

This is a well documented issue with third party SMS apps (Go SMS/Handcent/etc) on certain ICS versions. Are you on ICS? Specifically XXLPQ or earlier?
Handcent 4 beta works perfectly only sends one SMS much better than the stock app.

Guys, this is just strange and never happened when I'm using ICS before. Right now my XT910 using Official JB EU and already frozen major stock app, include stock SMS app.
Since then, I can't receive or send any text message even using alternative SMS app like Pansi or Textra. Stock SMS app must be unfrozen and then I can texting.
Is there any fix for this? or let the stock SMS app unfrozen and disable it's notification..?
sorry if my English is bad...
