[Q] This real? - HTC EVO 3D

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110725877940&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
I dont believe him, I contacted him and he said
"It is not impossible. I have sold 3 on ebay already and I have one that I own myself that is flashed to boost. If you are interested in buying one please contact me if not then have a great day"
I have flashed HTC Incredibles, Evo's, Shifts, and Galaxies, but the 3D is out of the question.

Why is the 3d out of the question?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

The 3D has been flashed to other carriers.

I've seen a few shops here selling 3D's on a carrier called Cricket. Not sure about Boost but I don't see how it's out of the realm of possibility.

The 3D should be impossible because Htc made it so once a scan For ESN and MEID locations start that it will hide it automatically. I forgot the encryption type they use but I know you can't scan it, (google it if u don't believe me) so only way to zero out the esn is by manually finding it by looking through trillions of esn and MEID locations.
Therefore it can only mean is fake he claims he has sold but has no history of selling any.
Trust me if that were possible I would be one of the first ones to find out because not even in download mode I'm I able to scan for locations.

Cricket is possible because they accept the bad esn and enter it in their system but to change to Boost Mobile will not work since u need to clone a phone into it.

I would suggest buying a GSM Evo 3D and getting a GSM carrier like T-Mobile, AT&T, or Simple Mobile. Good thing all of the main networks here in Russia are GSM, I don't like the CDMA system.

It depends on the agent you get; whenever I do any shananigans I usually call the spanish line since they're based in Mexico, have full power over the acct, and are less likely to question your shiz.
And, yeah, the ESN will be clean if you do such a procedure.

Your thoughts?

I have a question regarding a Samsung Galaxy s3.

The question is I bought a sg3 phone for $400 on a market here in my country. But when I activated it with the same carrier the phone is from. It appears that the phone have been reported stolen and also the phone is unlocked for any gsm carrier. My question is since I will not be able to use it on at&t which is it original carrier will I be able to use it on t mobile network since its diferrent and they use a different network?

Well , since you cant afford a new phone then just root it and unlock it .. But the right thing to do is returning it back and report the guys number to the police , good luck.

It is allready unlocked. Will I still need to root it? (Also looks like the guy is being tracked down by police since I'm not the first person he fooled.) I'm very angry of this situation since I didnt spent $100 or $200 bucks, I spent $400 that is much money to throw it like in the thrash.

I can feel the pain , bought a stolen phone before xD Your device ID or IMEI is reported as stolen , so you cant register on that carrier ... Maybe try another carrier ? Atleast thats what worked for me

Have a look at this from T-Mobile, AT&T were already doing it, IMIE blocking blocks the phone across all network in that country, you could probably use it abroad normally as its not on a US network but using in the US unlikely
http://www.beijingiphonerepair.com/news/t-mobile-usa-has-started-imei-blocking-stolen-iphones-and-other-devices/
IMIE blocking of stolen phones has been in the UK for a few years now

And if I change the phone IMEI. The problem will be solved right?
Yes but you get the far bigger problem of illegal imei changing which can get you intr real deep trouble.
Also, imei cannot be changed easily, only transplanted.
Note that most "stolen" devices are not stolen per se (they often come in original boxes) but are insurance claims.

Well , just use the phone for apps and buy another cheap nokia phone. By the way talk to paypal or the place where you bought the phone from , explain what happened to u and hopefully theyll give you a refund.

Should I consider selling it internationally?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
You could do that, but be sure to advertise that the phone wont work in the states, it would be unfair to con a potential buyer.
It would be unfair to sell a stolen phone :/

I dropped my phone today and cracked the screen in several places. I just got it rooted/S-Off. Do I need to return it to stock before sending it to Asurion?

You won't be able to reactivate the old one anyway...as soon as you make a claim, it puts the old device on the negative list for activation, so the IMEI will be disabled by Verizon.

Most insurance plans require a police report to be filed for the lost phone, so you'd have to falsify that as well. Doesn't like a good idea in general.
I wonder how ensquared handles the software bit as well.
I told them I lost it and I know used that crack phone in GSM. Now I have someone that can fix your phone at a good prices?

If someone tells you they can get a phone off of the stolen phone negative list, they either work for Asurion (and they're acting illegally), work for a VERY specific team at Verizon (and puttng their job in jeopardy to make $70), or flashing a different IMEI to the phone (which is illegal and causes other problems down the line). All phones on Verizon are indexed, meaning that the company has a record of each phone's serial number, and that's what's allowed on the network. If a phone is in the "negative" index list, it can't be activated unless it's moved on to the regular list, and the only people that can do that are Verizon employees on the indexing/inventory team, or Asurion reps who have to go through a pretty long process to have it re-indexed.
On a GSM network, none of this is a problem, because the only thing the network cares about is the SIM/ICC number.

[Q] Motorola Photon 4G Bad ESN

Hi i have this motorola photon 4G and I was plan on getting it connect with sprint but I was told that it has a blocked esn. what does this exactly mean and is there a way I could unblock and will I still be able to us it with sprint

Basically it's a parts device now. Once they are reported as lost or stolen the carrier puts the ESN on a blacklist. Once this happens pretty much no one will activate it.
Might be able to do the GMS mod and use tmoble or ATT.

What do you mean he stole the clean esn? If he tried to activate it on sprint, can't you claim it stolen if you refunded his money? Did the buyer send the phone back to you?
I had a somewhat similar experience with an old (in nearly brand new condition) uscc flip phone I sold on ebay. The kid wanted to activate it on verizon. After he buys it (and pays for it), he tells me he plans on activating on verizon. Now, at the time I didn't know the first thing about these things. I told him I didn't think it would work, or if it did, it might require programming. The only promise I make is that it will work with uscc (being a uscc phone in the first place). He ends up demanding money back and claiming I lied to him about being able to activate on verizon. Anyways, ebay/paypal found in my favor as the item was as described (he did a SNAD claim).
Given what I know now, I would of told him he'd need to activate it on page plus or some other verizon mvno and that it would require programming to be functional.
At the end of the day, there are far too many idiots out there that can't read (and write), and best to only promise the device will work on the original carrier only. With respect to being soff, swappa is probably your best bet. I would think people shopping there actually have a clue to what unlocked/rooted/soff means and understand. Do keep in mind if you ship the device with a non stock based rom (ie, something not based on sense or touchwiz), activation modules will be missing and the user will not be able to do a handsfree/ota activation.
