If im trying to calibrate my battery, after the initial deletion if the battery stats files, sometimes id get down to like 20 percent or lower and ill restart my phone or it will restart for whatever reason, does that mess up the process? Do I have to full charge and do it all over again or is it fine?

Twice while calibrating my battery now my phone has rebooted around the 20% mark. I just flashed Eclipse last night, so I was calibrating my battery today, but had to do a battery pull (froze the default Home, which FC's til a reboot). I've wondered this as well....

Just fyi if you plan on trying to use and of the widgets like social media with home frozen they wouldn't work for me. Forget what else also. I only froze the launcher.
And freezing home always sends phone into force close loop until battery pull. DLNA freezing will also do that along with a couple others
^Thanks for looking out, but I don't use any of the stock widgets. And, yeah, I've always frozen home, DLNA, and whatever else, so I knew I would have to reboot when I did it. Just forgot I was calibrating.

Hi all,
I once asked why the battery life on my Hero was kinda bad (< 1 day with a full charge), and I did as was described in this post. I downloaded the Battery Calibration App, charged to 100% and pressed "calibrate battery", let it drain the next day , waited for phone to self-shutdown. Then I plugged it into the wall-charger. After a few minutes I switched the phone on again (while still connected to the charger), and immediately after it booted it said it had a battery percentage of 40%. Let it charge to 100%, and immediately when I started using the phone, the percents started to wear down again very quickly (>10% in an hour). Next day I booted into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache and battery stats, but battery life still goes down pretty fast. Did something go wrong here? If so, what should I do to prolong the battery life?
When I go to settings -> about phone -> battery, the 2 things I see at the top most of the times are visualizing/screen or wifi. A typical day for phone use for me looks like playing a little game, browsing, using tweetdeck etc at times when I'm bored or texting, so I use it a fair amount of time each day. I just installed JuiceDefender, gonna see that that'll bring me.
I run Elelinux 7.1.0 latest version.
greets,
Danny
i have not used the app yet, but i advice you unistall the app and using root explorer go to the /data/system/ and delete the batterystats.bin file and restart the phone and let it drain down completely and recharge and you should be fine
Anyone know how I can get my battery back to charging to 100%? I flashed nuetrino yesturday and had to restore my backup, now my phone wont charge past 78% even though it still says charging.

Take battery out, plug phone into wall charger, then put the battery back in the phone. Let it charge for an hour.

Its charging to 4200mV but only saying it's at 78% and still charging. I tried the Juggernaut fix before and it actually killed my battery life. ill try taking the battery out and plugging it in to the wall.

This will definitely fix the problem, but only temporarily. Next time it drains down and I try to charge it up again, it stops at 80-85%. But when you look at the battery stats, it shows 4200.
I've tried wiping the battery stats, applying the Juggernaut fix, following the steps in the ultimate batttery guide -- still have the problem. I even switched back from CM7 to stock ROM and can't seem to shake this issue.
Just totally kill it and then recharge it fully.
Thats what I do whenever I get this problem.

I am having the same problem since updating to gingerbread. Will try deleting files above. First time I´ve seen that advice.
Just an update. Temporary fix for me only. Phone still charges only to 60% after a recharge.tried everything so far with no results.
I switched from the ics mod cm7 to nuetrino and also drained it fully. It now charges to around 93ish%, but my phone normally charges to only about 95-97% even when it was on stock.

this method works to set your current level to 100% or 99%. just did it with 67% remaining and rebooted to see 99% battery. tried wiping batt stats and plugging in without booting but it still saw the batt as full.
luckily i was just experimenting so i had backed up all three of those files and restored them and was back to 67% after reboot. so i'm charging it to the max my phone sees now (87%) and then deleting the files to set that as the new 100%.

Let me know if it sticks after a full discharge and recharge. I deleted the files while i was at 100%, maybe if should have done it while stuck at 60%.

I also just deleted the files, i had a full charge (showing 93% (and thats been the highest in weeks!)), i will post back my findings as well
~~~EDIT~~~
4 hours later, full brightness and no screen timout, i am down to 1%.... just waiting for the phone to turn off. i want to post my results so you guys can see when you come on next... the longest part now is going to be the full 100% charge, which i have not had in weeks.... fingers crossed!
~~~EDIT 2~~~
Well I have been stuck at 93% for the last 30 minutes or so. looks like if you let the phone go dead or power down, it reverts back, or there is something else causing. this issue
It seems to me deleting those files results the same as removing the battery while charging and placing in back.both tips gets you back to 100% but only temporarily for some of us. After a discharge it will not charge to 100%, just as before. I have no idea what is causing it, but my phone battery is about to die from overcharging. like everyone else, it started after a flash.but for some reason it is permanent for some users. Will be getting a new phone if I cannot solve the problem. If anyone had any insights feel welcome to contribute.
ya... after leaving it charge overnight, mine is only at 94%.... so this is only a temp, VERY ttemp fix.
i was thinking the other day, my dad has an Atrix also, his is BONE stock. i was thinking about switching batteries for a day and see what happens.... what do ya think?

Worth a try, I was going to buy a new battery to see if it solves it. from what I have read it is a problem with motorola battery driver and gingerbread. Let us know how it went. Maybe a new battery somehow resets it back into working.

well.... JUST found out that he had his phone on charge all night and guess what.... STUCK AT 90%!!! He has a BONE STOCK, no rom, no root, no nothing, OUT OF THE BOX, Atrix. So thats a twist in this issue. he said he took his battery out with the phone off and when he put it back in, it was 100%. he just told me that the other day it went to 80% charge.
So just the other day my phone would start randomly rebooting and it only seems to do it when the batter power is lower, like less than 50%. Ive been running the same rom (mikrunny 1.7) for well over a month and have had it oc'd the whole time to 1.5 and never had an issue before now.
It was doing it last night again. It was around 55% when it started. I left it turned off for a bit while we drove home from the bar and when I got home and rebooted it and now read 7%. Shut it back off and let it charge off over night. Booted up this morning and its now at 80% when it was definitely showing the green light saying it was fully charged.
So battery going bad or do I need to recalibrate it? Already ordered a HTC oem battery from amazon (it was 7.50, didnt realize they were so cheap!) so hopefully it is the battery and not something else.

Once you get your new battery it would be easy to see if the battery can be the issue. I have 3 batteries myself and I notice once that one of them was always causing my phone to random reboot. I color coded all 3 batteries to keep track of them and I notice that anytime the "red" battery was in the phone it would reboot while below the 50% mark.
I have replaced that battery and haven't had this issue, I'm rooted running a stock kernel and ROM so I could say that it may have relation to the battery.
I tried to get alogcat but nothing would show because the log would clear at boot. It can be a reaction to an inconsistency on the batteries voltage.
Are you on newest radio? I flashed the updated radio and started getting random reboot. I flashed back to radio 2.08, all reboots stopped.
I was having this problem with two separate ROMs until I reverted radio.

I charged my phone during the night to 100% and used it for a bit this morning. I went to the beach for the day, and left my phone at home. Upon returning (roughly 5 hours later) my screen was stuck on the ATT splash.
I looked at my battery usage to see if anything strange had happened, and I was greeted with the attached image.
I am currently running stock ICS 4.0.3 from ATT. Rooted with Kernal version 3.0.35-Siyah-v3.4.2. I do have a lot of widgets on my home screen, but I have had this same setup for more than 2 weeks and nothing like this has ever happened before.
Pleas let me know if you need any more details. Any and all help is appreciated.

Download batery calibration app from market, charge until you get 4200mv, disconnect charge, calibrate then after succesful calibrate restart phone then dont shutdown until you get force shutdown.
If you cant get 4200mv, wait to the highest value then calibrate
Anyway your signals are very low, it will be drain battery rly fast, try make them highet and keep wifi shutdown

Why does low signal strength quickly discharge the battery? Also does this explain for the gaps in the battery info or is it something else?
Our phones do not require battery calibration. Have you installed betterbatterystats, and watchdog? If not, install them and see if it happens again. I can tell you that it's not the official update that's the problem, as I had it installed for a few days. Almost gotta be a rogue app. You could also try switching kernels just to see if it helps.

Thanks but again, whats going on? If I have been using the same setup for more than 2 weeks, shouldn't an occurrence like this have already happened?
I had a similar incident today running stock 4.0.3. no root. Phone went black. Once I noticed it, I restarted it which it didn't want to do at first. Went to the battery stats and it looks similar to yours. Battery level showed about a 50% drop. Never had that happen before.
Well I am going to try the first suggestion and see if that helps. I'll report back later.
It seemed that the first option worked pretty well. I let my phone sit for 8hrs today, and the battery only discharged to 87%.

Probably kuz it didn't reboot. It looks like your phone rebooted quite a few times for whatever reason, back to back, possibly got stuck in some boot loops too. Id call it a fluke unless it happens again.
And there is no "calibrating" our battery. If you reboot at lower capacities it'll come back substantially lower and then correct itself slowly over time. Its just how our meter works (voltage reading vs mah counter)
My DNA battery has gone crazy. Last night the battery was at 66%, I restarted it and the battery went up to 76%. Today, the battery was at 33%, I rebooted it and the battery dropped to 17%. After that I rebooted it again to see if it would go back up and it dropped to 14%. So I did it one last time and that battery then went up to 24%. I dont get it and on top of that my battery life has been terrible recently.
To try to extend it I have installed Lux to manage the screen brightness, I have turned off backup and Google Location Service.
I got Nova Launcher yesterday to see if that helps, I'm using Greenify to close apps and CleanMaster to get rid of junk. I dont use Google Now or have any apps sync/receive notifications besides Messages and Phone. I can't get through the day and I don't use my phone from 7am to 12 in the afternoon.
I have 25 apps installed from Google Play and all the bloatware and useless apps disabled. I use Next Browser instead of Stock/Chrome
Any solutions or suggestions

Maybe just try to do full cycles with the batter to re-calibrate it, charge it up 100%+ and drain it 99%, rinse/repeat a few times.

Ive read that you arent supposed to drain the battery and this phone is unpredictable for when it will turn off from a low battery.
Sometimes it turns off at 8%, sometimes it might turn off at 2%

You're right about draining the battery however we cannot fully drain these batteries. The system shuts the phone down when it hits a certain level, however you can still power the device back on after it does this, thus the battery still has charge and not fully drained.
And yes they can be unpredictable.
Mine will shut down when it gets to about 5 percent but I was using it one time and it went from 8 to 2 in a second and powered itself down. I think they all act weird when they get really low but your issue sounds like the battery is on its last leg.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
According to your battery stats, what's draining the battery the most? Also download GSam battery stats to get a more detailed look at the apps and services that are consuming battery.
Maybe your battery is past its prime, but you want to be sure its not an app or service draining things before giving up.
My Droid 3 and 4 are still going strong as long as I charge them fully and then periodically drain them to 10%.
