So, the gingerbread ota comes with the 1.77.30P radio, if I'm not mistaken. The hktw build that showed up before that came with the 1.97.00R radio. Looking at the version names it looks like the hktw radio is newer, but the 1.77.30P is recommended. Can anyone explain why either one is better to use?

The 1.97 was a leaked radio and only displayed one bar until someone just found a hack to get it to show the correct signal strength. My averages are a little bit better on the 1.97 radio.... 4mb dowm and1.10 up pretty consistently. 1.97 so far its only sbf.

It means that we can change our baseband to 1.97 after flashing radtio to 4.5.91, am i right? Please correct my understanding
There a lot users who are findig 1.77.30 a better radio solution.
Cheers.
The stock 1.77 is what comes with gingerbread. 1.97 is a leaked build that was not released officially. 1.77 works more consistently without problems IMO. Different people report different results. Depends on your rom which will work better for you. Also there is now a 1.100

I get faster download/upload speeds with 1.97 than 1.77. 1.100 is slower for some reason.

Im using the .97 radio.. flashes via cwm and so far no problems.. happy I didn't get the 1 bar bug... speeds.. are more consistent
Is it still general consensus that the 1.97.00R radio is the better one?

Any feedback on the new 802 GB radio? How's it seem to be working? I've been using the MR2 forever cause it has worked the best for me.
Just thought I would ask before I try it.
Been running the last couple days... Get better 4g lock in fringe areas... Overall feels stapler..

Seems okay so far. Might have gotten better bat life on 2.5.
Thunderbolt CM7 1.3
Tiamat 1.0.4
I'm getting better data reception. Getting 3 bars 4G in the hospital I previosly couldn't get a lock
tbolt ^_^_^
Battery life??? Better?
New 802 radio
I have not tried it yet, I am running BAMF 3.0 4.9
Anyone try it yet?
I will probably flash the new radio tonight to see how it works.
i loaded this and there is no difference in the signal from MR 2.5, although my TB is in a 3G-only city so no idea if there's a difference with 4G or not.
i haven't tested out battery life yet though as the phone's been charging a few hours now(extended battery).
oh and i'm using A05PTH3ORY V1.4X
i don't use leaked beta radios. i don't need a brick.
well, i gave it a go. im using DT's AO5 however the hell you spell it AOSP rom. that and i have the 2750mAh extended battery. normally, when i go to bed, the next day the battery has lost 10 - 15%.... with this new radio, the battery was at 98% when i went to bed, then 69% when i woke up. i think im going to switch back to the MR 2.5
Can we please begin using RUU numbers to describe radios. The actual radio number most people use is just one of them and MRblah, blah, blah doesn't tell you jack because there's 2 MR2 radios, and it seems people are just inventing MR numbers now. Someone posted they were using the MR3.25 radio somewhere today. WHAT??? MR3???
The 802 radio has given me betterblife in both MonolithTh3ory and Cl3anTh3ory roms. Can't hurt to try it its benefited lots of us so far.

I'm a fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it. The only new radio I flashed was when i HAD to for the GB radio. Other than that, I have left mine be.

I see that in the Dev section there are several Roms that appear to use a radio greater than ED05.
What are the current radios for stock and leaked?
Thanks
A partial answer is that EH09 and EI20 are system leaks radios.
So, in short I will be sticking with ED05 for the time being until I sort it out and find any information on stability.

Best radios, according to the majority of users are ec 09 and ed 05
tsm res1.2, TKSGB 11-06, lag fix
EDO5 is what I am currently using and have noticed better battery performance. I haven't seen anything of the ones you have mentioned. The EDO5 is the latest official release. I would stick with that. New radios or basebands that are leaked could possibly not be finished or cause horrible battery times. I would stick with what you have. Just my two cents. If anyone has tested one of these newer releases then post it here. I am open to using new radios if it makes battery life better than the ED05 baseband.

The roms based on eh09 and ei20 are from other galaxy s phones other than fascinate (mesmerize if not mistaken) which our awesome devs have ported for our phones. The radios cant be used on the fascinate so stick with one of the tried and true fascinate radios.

I have been out of the Fascinate loop for a little over a month. Let me just say that the devs here and an unlocked bootloader really make development much quicker.
What I am saying is that a bunch has gone on here in my absence.

between eh03, ec09, and ed05... ec09 gives me the best results >eh03>ed05. I have seen quite few people reporting they get the best speeds with eh03 but im not seeing it. I suggest trying all three and determine what works best for your area.

Hi all,
I'm getting very low signal in my phone, only one or two bars with passion v13 and now with ICS euphoria even when being next to the window.
I get excellent signal in a HTC G2.
Does anyone have a similar problem?

Flash a new modem. Scrizz has a bunch especially for ICS.
I forgot to mention that I have already tried several modems: ka7, ka6, jksomething, but nothing changes.
Try a different city or a different phone... or a different cell company

I'm right around Chicago it is an ICS issue. My gf has miui and kb5 with 3 bars of H. I have currently 1 bar 3g same setup on euphoria.

You could always try the CM9 alpha or icssgs, see if there is any difference
If changing modems makes no difference, then it must be the rom.

Unfortunately its all of them. The only fix I have found is getting off ICS. Once the newest glitch kernel is back ported for cm7/miui.us I won't be able to careless lol.
P.S. this reply would not be possible on ICS, I am at work right now.

Interesting. I should have mentioned kernels (many to choose from), but it sounds like you might have tried a few of them also. Good luck.
You might want to discuss it in one of the ICS rom threads, or the modem thread:

Phoenix Down.
Every ICS I experience this on until Docs V5. My phone is useable at work again on ICS. It's worth a shot if low signal is what is holding you back from 4.0.

I am also in Chicago running Euphoria no issues with signal strength. I also work for T-Mobile and can tell you a bad SIM card is the most common reason for signal issues ;-)

If someone requests a new SIM card from T-Mobile, do they get to keep the same phone number? Also, I've had my Samsung Vibrant's battery since around Oct 2010. How much longer would you think this battery will be good 'til?
I have the i9100 that I am using on AT&T in the US and I am currently using the LPQ baseband, but have used XXKI3 and KI4 as well. Anyone in the US have any preference or one that has worked best for you on AT&T?

Switched back to the XXKI3 baseband and I seem to have better reception for data and voice.
Trying the XXKPA from Veyka
KL1
I'm on baseband KI3. Works fine.
LPQ works best for me.
I keep trying the ICS modems and always have returned to KI3. It has issues, but definitely is better for me in the North suburbs of Chicago than anything else so far.
In my experience, KL1 is the best performing modem (in the Houston, TX area at least). My speeds are around 6-8 Mbps down/1-3 Mbps up depending upon the time of day. Browsing, the Play Store, and several news apps are much more responsive on KL1. To be fair, I haven't tried KI3, though. (Flashed KI4 - see update below)
I tried LPQ on ICS modded ROMs and was lucky to get 1 Mbps/150 Kbps speeds. Likewise, all other Internet-based apps were slllloooooowwww (think original Blackberry Pearl and 8300 devices). I must have tried 20 different APN configurations, but they were all the same.
Long story, short - in the Houston, TX area, KL1 or KI4 both seem to work well as compared to LPQ.
[UPDATE] - Since I was just sitting here browsing XDA, I figured I would try KI4. It's a little better than KL1, especially with the upload. Five tests on KL1 at 3:00 pm CDT returned an average of 5.8 Mbps down/1.2 Mbps up. KI4 gave me an average of 5.9 Mbps down/1.6 Mbps up. Internet-based apps felt the same on either KL1 or KI4. Ping times also were the same at 80ish ms.
Delete.

Located in South-central PA here and have been testing the hell out of KI4 and KL1 and the results are amazing, they are the 2 best modems to use in my opinion for my area, I travel to Philly and Jersey a lot and have never had one drop signal in the past 4 weeks I've had these two radios on my phone. 2 weeks a piece and have nary noticed a bit of difference except that KL1 gives me slightly better battery life.

Excellent - I am using XXLPR right now and seem to be getting great battery and speeds
I am using KI3 and getting good speeds here in California. I also tried KH3 and LPS and LP9 and i still get better speeds w KH3 but LPS and LP9 are not bad.
I am using KP8 right now after trying LPQ and NELP3... Both of those had great speeds but terrible battery consumption

Any modem can be used regardless of the Rom version.
Thanks to SAMSUNG, there is no RIL packeges for MODEMS to suite with ROM like HTC devices.
are we talking about XXKL1 ? because there is a few other modems that end in KL1. Thank you.
Anyone find a good ICS modem to use with AT&T yet? I ask because it doesn't seem possible to use a GB RIL with an ICS ROM so I'd have to upgrade to an ICS modem to get the RIL and baseband to match.

That doesn't exactly help with finding a modem though.
Anyways, I'm trying out BVLP7 with a matching BVLP7 RIL and so far it's working better than XXKL1.

yup. only GB. I found a thread with an ICS radio but for the life of me i cant find it now. I think there were 3 variants
