Is it possible to get a working version of the forest live wallpaper and the contacts widget from the DROID 3 to be ported over to the x2? I have both phones and now that my wife has the d3 I find myself missing those 2 things the most......other than the keyboard of course

I hate to ask but could you also try the camera, the x2 one is weird but the d3 has a button in the middle making it more convenient, you know
I'd love love love a working ported camera from Droid 3 that has 8mp.
I will love that this will be posted in another forum.

Eclipse v0.2.1 not the latest v0.2.2 has the Droid 3 camera and video cam. It works but it will force close if you try to switch from widesrceen 6MP to 8MP mode.
yeah I saw that too....I am running v0.2.2 right now and it is great. But I have relied on 3rd party apps for sometime now when it comes to camera

So just wanted to let everyone know I started development of an X2 rom using a similar approach to Minimal X but keeping in the essential apps, such as the calendar and alarm clock. I'm currently alpha testing my first build right now and its surprisingly stable. Here's what I plan to offer in the first initial release.
-AOSP apps (very minimal blur)
-Launcher2 (rather than moto's launcher)
-Recovery Bootstrap app included with install
-Overclocking (still trying to work out the bugs)
It's not a lot offered above, but will help to eliminate all the bloat and still leave you with a fully functioning experience.
Are there any suggestions you guys have for features that could be added in for the first release or down the road. This is my first ROM and being a PHP developer its a completely different world to me.
Thanks for looking and your feedback.

Thnks for working on the Droid X2. I have a backup phone so if you need a tester im here
I'd be interested in testing for you if you ever were looking for testers. thanks for all your hard work

Gingerbread theme? Also a must have for a rom for me is the blur task killer, blur camera, and blur alarm clock
Beta test
I can also beta test for you. Thx
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Since my weekend is a little busy I probably wont have a beta out to download and test til Monday, but as far as stability, its pretty smooth. I just want to fix a few aesthetics before I release it.

Its mostly Verizon's fault, but putting pressure on Motorola will help get the bootloader unlocked later this year. I think I recall an article that said Motorola will/was considering unlocking their bootloaders later this year. As far as i know unless they do, or we hack all the way around it we can't manipulate the kernel that controls the processor. Someone did get 2nd-init, so now we can port all of the popular roms over, but no dice on kernels yet. Complain to Verizon and Motorola. Its your phone you should be able to with it as you please. Verizon should be posting Sbf with tutorials on how to fix your phone after you over tweak.
As far as the rom goes how about including some hacked apk's or a modified version of the blur cam with search button as the shutter button. Anyway you could get rid of the snap to grid on the home screen icons. Could make some sweet home screens if you could move the icons where ever you want them.
For those that have to have certain applications that came default on the DX2 keep your eyes on this post > http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x2-roms/161753-dx2-apk-grabber.html I am working on an app which includes all of the original files so that you can easily re-add them to a custom rom. This helps the developer keep their rom's slim and allows the end user to only get what they actually want.

+2, as well as Quickoffice...
Well, the phone really is not our own unless we buy it out-right. It's provided at a lower cost for the promise we will keep their service and I think in that case they have the right to lock it down, but on the other side of the coin I think they should give you the option to unlock everything once the contract term is up or if you buy the phone upfront.
I really like the idea of using the search button to take pictures. Sometimes if you hit the on screen button it pulls over the menu instead of snapping the picture which can ruin a kodak moment.
The snap to grid is really annoying. I would like to place the icons anyplace I fancy. And as a final note, we have an SBF with a guide already.
Overclock would be nice

I'd love the ability to kill the current app by long-pressing the Back button.
I'd also like to see power control widgets in the notification bar, but since I have Quick Settings tied to my long-press Search button, that's lower priority.
I'd also be happy to beta this!
I would love to help you test this!

I would be, as well. Not having calendar killed MinimalX2 for me, but I liked everything else about it. And overclocking?

I know there was a Droid 3 system dump and I'm pretty sure there was a Bionic one as well. Is it possible to port the Blur home from either of those to the X2? Or is anyone working on that? I've been interested in trying the new Blur home.
I would love to see this.

Theoretically, anything is possible. But whether or not it is worth the effort to do so is a better question.
It would be nice though.
Would be cool to see. Eye candy gives me nerdgasms.
I'd love to see the Bionic's blur on the X2, I really like the new lockscreen/home screen transitions.

<---agrees 100% ... I would love to see a bionic port... Btw zumocast almost fully works on my dx2... With the exception of: I cant update and i cant play video.. But if i could get the overall bionic ui i would be in geek heaven... Or even just the quick contacts widget would be a nice addition.. :d
Would anyone with a Bionic be kind enough to post up the BlurHome2.apk (or whatever the actual name is..). I'd like to see if pushing it to my phone works like the launcher2 did.

Very helpful....this thread is about asking to put it on our phones, not whether you like it or not.
I saw a post for the Droid Bionic and Droid 3, recently. It is the "[Alpha4] Ics4Bionic Preview" thread on the droidforums.net forums. I can not link it here since I am new and have less than 8 posts (search it on Google).
In short, they both got an Alpha version of an ICS ROM. As far as I know, neither got the ICS OTA update yet. And, as far as I can tell, both still have a locked bootloader. Still, they seem to be running an ICS ROM with Android 4.0.1. How is this possible? Without a bootloader, we don't have the ability to load a custom kernel, right? But then, how did these devs load Android 4.0.1 (aka ICS) on the Bionic and Droid 3?
Also, I was wondering, if Moto and Verizon don't plan to show this phone some love and release an ICS OTA update, can we still get it somehow in the form of a port by some dev?
i honestly don't get all the hype of Ice cream sandwich
does it improve the camera quality? video camera quality?
battery life? flash performance?
bring GPU acceleration to UI?
i haven't heard any of those but somehow people gets excited on seeing their number going from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5
atleast thats how i see it. peace
From the buzz around the Net there are a few devs working on ICS ROMs for the X2. I'm not entirely sure about a leak or port of the fw, but I know from nitroglycerin33's twitter he has been working on a re-vamp of the Eclipse ROM with tons of ICS touches and tweaks. So look out for that.

I haven't. heard any tegra 2 phone that is confirmed to get ics
Akaik, droid 3 is using ti omap4 which has different gpu than x2
If thats the case, then it is possible that x2 wont have gpu acceleration seeing no tegra 2 device is confirmed to have.
Even atrix 4g which is heavily marketed and have twice the ram of x2 isnt confirm either
Which would make ics kinda pointless
I am more interested on the blue hue camera fix and camcorder autofocus for x2 more than anything else

It is possible to get an ics rom but we have to be patient. A few great devs have been working hard on getting a working 2nd init and have been very successful. Its really only a matter of time. Although we might see an ics rom, it wont have all the features of ics.

Exactly, stuff that really doesn't matter though, like the on-screen buttons, I think would have no place on a physical keyed phone like the x2. Motorola, if they are planning anything at all, should have it announced at least by January.
I don't think we will get an official update to ics. Just a ported rom. Essentially it would just be the updated ui and maybe a few performance tweeks. If you want to get the full experience of what 4.0 has to offer, you will have to get a phone built for it.

Can anyone hook me up with a DL link to any photon ROM that has the 1080p cam working? Going on Caribbean cruise in few weeks and hoping to get some decent pics out of it so figured may as well swap to a 1080p cam rom for a bit. Jokers Skinny does from what I see, but all the links are dead that I can find, as well as the torrent(no seeders). Thanks!

Sweet thanks!
I wanted to chime in here (and please dont scream at me as I really know nothing serious about cameras) I thought the camera's on our phones were set with apature, fs speed, depth perception, ect and processor speed for best picture?
As I work in I.T., I can usually go backwards as we are scaleable, but I cannot go forward unless I upgrade. It seems the case here, if you go 1080P would that not defeat or "blur" your image because thats not what it was built for? Or did Motorola really give us a 1080P with jacked up software to run it?
Wait, skinnyrev1 does have the 1080p camera? Thought that was only skinny complete.

max photo resolution is 2224p (8mp). i think with this big sensor 1080p video isn't impossible. we have that processing power.
I'm running the stock 2.3.5 rom on my sprint photon, that rom has what your looking for.

Use camera 360 for better pictures.
Free app found in play store.

Use gosms pro if you flash above rom and can't get mms working also found in play store.

I posted the OP a link to the wrong one. Sorry. However, see my reply below because doesn't sound like either will help with the camera.

This is correct according to Joker. Complete is only one with 1080 but that is not referring to the camera but the camcorder since originally it is only 720. Believe there were some things ported over from the Electrify for this.
1080p works perfectly (no blurred picture, etc) on any Electrify rom. Don't understand, why Photon doesn't have it yet.
yea its the same hardware camera as other phones using it for 1080p also, i never understood whyd they do such a thing except to make people want to buy a new phone later with a badass camera?

Because it's based on 198 firmware for Photon. And that one doesn't have it.
i dont know if im the only one, but seeing what motorola has done to blur from gingerbread to ICS has given me a new perspective with the route they took. beside the bootloader being locked down i have to hand it to them for keeping the ICS look and really toning down on the "skinned" look (im looking at you samsung/htc). i went from the D3 to the D4 then to the razr, and i really have to say their ICS rom makes the phone both enjoyable and asthetic. :good:
