Hello guys
So, my question is, what is the best method to create a custom theme for the Galaxy Ace. Is there an app on PC, or should you do it by editing the apks with something like WinRar (or BetterZip, since I use a Mac)
I previously created a theme, called Guru's Theme. I mainly cooked it using UOT and then changed other png files in the package to modify the notification drawer and the highlights (things that UOT can't or can't fully do (it can't modify the icons etc. in the notification bar))
Thank's for your answers
This is the theme btw: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212227
The best way is to post in the right section.. Then use the search function, then google.. Finally, there is a Q&A about theme by Seilent in theme section..
Here a start..

Oh, thank you, I'm sorry. I was not sure which of the two sections was suitable, since I'm talking about the making and not about the theme itself...

So Now that I have this looking presentable I figured it could use its own thread... This is a port of a theme posted in our forum...
Not sure where the rest of the images came from, but the icons are ibox by hockey... who does some pretty amazing theme work.
This is not a flashable .zip file... please unzip the file and open the readme... it is full of useful information... Including the winning lottery numbers for tomorrow night... If you have any problems or suggestions, remember to use respect and be polite...
As always I am not responsible for what you install on your phone, do a Nandroid before installing, read and research before asking a question in this thread, and please dont clutter this thread...

I tried it and it did not work on my Vibrant.
It rebooted it and I got a black screen only.
I'm glad that I back up my rom and restored everything back to normal.
yeah same here. black screen after the galaxy S logo.
wish it worked though, looks like a cool theme!

I will definately have to try this. And if I get it to work I will attempt to post screenshots. I absolutely loved your HD2 themes when I was using my HD2.

Looks great man. Is there anyway you can put those files into zip format so we could download this straight to the phone and open it that way. I ask because I have limited access to a computer. Great work none the less!
the vibrant's Framework is set up way different than the i9000 or the captivate... If you would like I could port this over for you, seeing as I have a vibrant to test it on...
Does anyone know if this works on eugenes hybrid rom?????
As the title says why theme makers don't make thier themes flashable through recovery menu
with that it will be much easier to use ...
My questoin is thier any simple tool or way to make our themes signed.zip??

Depends. Which theme? Link?
There's a couple theme porters available here on xda, or google. Or you can look into doing it manually, then you can grab what you want and mix and match. It sometimes takes a few tries, but its fun if you like that sort of thing. All you have to do is unzip, swap out the pngs you want, zip and and sign, make an update.zip and flash, or use something like Ninjamorph to stuff it back. Automates the zip, sign, replace.

The Theme that I was interested in coverting over to CM6.2 was the andro green theme originally found in the Hero forum, the link is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783883
+1 for an answer to this, I'm in the same boat. Tried Theme Porter but I think I'm doing it wrong...
Basically what i ended up doing was just replacing all the appropriate images in the framework-res.apk

what program/app did you use to do this?
It be really easy to port that theme since its already on a same size mdpi device . Only thing that would be a little time consuming is if he made any changes to the xml's which isn't hard to do just takes a little time to sift through it and compile it to your framework based on the rom you are using.

I used dsixda's HTC Android Kitchen to decompile the ROM that I wanted to replace the images in the framework-res.apk. I definitely recommend learning how to use it because it will allow you to customize ROMs of your choice and allow u to add and remove apk's in the ROM. And then recompile it.

Not anywhere specifically, I learned by decompiling frameworks and reading tthrough the source xml's and asking and read up in theme threads and Appmanager. But if you have any question about something specific you can pm me

Hi all.
I would like to change the colour of certain elements in my telephone. I am not sure if this depends on the Launcher, or not, or if it is depends on the kernel, no idea. Maybe to know this is the first step to resolve my question.
For example, I have in the upper bar the time or the battery level in blue, or when I press the call button, I have the numbers to dial in the same blue colour. I would like to change the blue by white.
I have attached a picture pointing this blue colour that I replace by another.
Thanks in advance.
Best.
LD.
See the second link in my sig, then you need to modify the files in your SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk and any other apk you want to change things in.

Thank you very much.
Just one more question. Reading your explendid post about theming I see that the "problem" is the theme I have installed (with blue colour) ... Is there some way of install automatically a new theme and to choose during the installation the colour?
Thanks again.
Best regards.
LD.

You'll need to find a theme to suit you, or do what I did as I didn't like the themes available when I first started, which is learn to theme yourself.

Question from an absolutely newbie user as you can see ... (trying to learn!)
I have read this forum: [INDEX] [MODS] [APPS] [THEMES] [BOOTANIMATIONS] [SCRIPTS] For All Roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223861)
Does any theme work in my telephone? (i9300 with UltimaRom v11.0 android version 4.1.2 and XXEMB5)
Which features should I keep in mind in order to choose a 'working' theme?
Thanks again.

It should state in the instructions of any theme thread what it works on so you'll need to check things like that yourself when browsing for one.
