Alright I tried this out already. You just have to follow the instructions, and also don't use other memory apps like auto killer memory optinizer, or task killers like advanced task killer. It really makes your phone run more smoothly.
Simple instructions are in post #18 by molohov.

I just ran the script with Aggressive 2 settings (6, 8, 25, 30, 35, 35)
Very easy to apply and run. It's a little difficult to weave through Zepp's writing, but essentially it boils down to this:
1. Download V6_Supercharger_for_Android-update8.sh.txt (at the bottom of the first post) to the sdcard
2. Download Script Manager Market Link
3. Open Script Manager and open the .txt file you just downloaded. Make sure Run as Root is selected.
4. Pick one of the many presets!
5. Reboot
Have yet to do some more testing with the current preset, but I'm sure it'll be good

You need busybox 1.18.2 or lower for this script to work properly. Below is the Market link to busy box installer. Thank LibertyMonger for suggesting to me to add this into the OP!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
In the script manager, its a little like using terminal or command prompt. Just load up the txt and run as root. They will ask you to choose your scrolling speed (just type 0 so the text appears fastest inside the script manager) so you have to tap the screen for the keyboard to appear. You need the on screen keyboard to choose the presets too. Just choose one of them. I chose option 2 (aggressive setting 2) and currently my phone feels very fast.
ive found a video tutorial on how to install this script on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WADt5tK6Ths
Issues:
(PM me or leave a reply so I can put them here and warn the others not to use unsuitable presets)

hi guys, i saw this supercharger on a lg optimus one subforum. claims it works on all android phones.
it says
"What's it do?
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
It's the ONLY one of it's kind "
heres the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
dont know whether it will work or whether it will give us much improvement to our phone. any one?

edit
wait i just saw that they talked only about gingerbread, and the linked tutorial said too that it was only for cm7 (he might have wanted everyone to play safe and not risk screwing up their phone)... anyone tried this yet?
It says for Milestone only, so does that mean what it says? For milestone only? We have the Xt720 (well I'm sure you know that lol)
Yeah and you're right eejin2 looks like it's for CM7. So maybe if we get CM7 then it won't be for milestone only
But while on the subject of speed, with the Special's governors fixed and overclocked at 1200, wow dude it's super fast! don't think this is even needed! lol
haha. yeah its fast of course.. but im currently on cm6.3 and im very satisfied. not a single hang since i flashed 6.1.2. only overclocked at 900, and underclocked at 500 sometimes. never had to do a battery pull at all. wont long term running overclocked at 1200mah damage your processer?

Long term heat will damage your processor. Obviously if OC'd at 1200 and running intensive apps, your temp will shoot up. SetCPU or any other profile mgr has profiles to ramp up or down you CPU speed accordingly. I have run 1100/74 sinceI first installed MSOC but I have SetCPU profiles to throttle it back when I don't need that much power and speed.

Yeah I use setcpu as well but only for temperature. I let it run natural otherwise. But like i said, I have been on so many ROM's and I like to put them to the test so I have been at 1200 since march for the most part and never have any overheat issues. No reboots. And if it does burn up I have a year and a half left on my warranty lol. CBW gives 2 year warranties. I don't need it clocked that high, it will run well at 800, I just like to put it to the test. And being at 1200 on the special now has made the biggest difference out of all that I have tried. But of course haven't tried it long enough to really compare with cm6.
Seems like 1200 since march is pretty much long term lol. My phone is still like new!
Anyone tried this yet? Any comments?

Backup and try. You can even undo its effects as it backs up the files it modifies. Ask Zepp about the best settings for your phone by giving your phone details.

Alright, I searched and couldn't find any direct discussions about this - so I'm asking it here. Does using a home replacement app (i.e. Launcher Pro Plus) use a lot more battery life than just using the stock launcher? It means your phone is running an entire extra hungry app, so I assume it does. Does setting the replacement launcher as the default do anything in terms of what is running? Besides this, what can you do to minimize what extra battery drain there is?
From what I gather, a LOT of users are running some kind of home replacement, so I assume people have some good info. Thanks!
My battery life seems fine when I use ADW-EX or LPP. Customize your phone, use it like you want it then charge the hell out of it. Enjoy your phone...battery life disentangle last forever. Plus faux's kernel set on smartass is nice on any rom you use regardless if you use a home replacement launcher or not . I probably didn't answer your question...but just wanted to give some friendly advice.
Thanks for the tip! I'm actually about to finally root the phone. While I'd been using stock and happy with it, I never felt like I needed to, but now that I've found another home replacement that I love, I'm ready to jump in and start really setting her up. In just the 1 day I've been using LPP, it shows up pretty high in the battery usage, whereas that wasn't the case with the stock launcher, but it may be because I was fiddling with it all day to set it up. But I'm hoping setting CPU under/overclock will help optimize battery life. Between that and an extra battery I should be okay. I'll def check out the kernel, thx.
Do you recommend the Unlockr's method to root? Or the one in the resource thread in the development section?
The unlocker method worked super easy for me. And with your original question, set the home replacement app to default and restart your phone and use it for a few min then go to settings, undo the defaults set for it, and then click the stock launcher when you hit the home button. You'll have to wait a sec cuz it has to load up, which in my head makes it seem like it never really started running while your replacement launcher is always used/default.
Dunno if that helps, but I think it makes sense and is helpful, hence the sharing
Sent from my Orange Glacier MT4G using XDA App
That's a good point! I have noticed that, and it does make sense. When switching back to stock after using the replacement for a while, you DO have to wait for it to load. Hopefully that's an indication that it's not being active in the background.
And thanks for the advice on the Unlockr, that's where I went to root my MT3G, so I'll probably use them again for this one.

I'm not sure what method unlocker used but I recommend NOT using gfree just as a personal preference. Use the visionary method. It should be visionary r14 unless there's been an update.

Thanks, yeah I got Visionary and have temp-root, just have to finish it off now for perm-root.
This is a side-question - but now that I've got temp-root, I started fiddling around with setcpu, which I got when I had my rooted MT3G, and my max is 1024 MHz. Doesn't the MT4G go higher than that? Do you know how to enable the higher MHz?

You have to have a kernel that allows it to go higher, I'm like 95% sure about that, ha (brainfart). Try Faux123's kernels, I use them and love them, but dumfuq also has a really good one.
Sent from my Orange Glacier MT4G using XDA App
I can place another vote in favor of the unlocker method. Worked great and easy for me. The higher speeds do require a different kernel. Stock is only good for 1024Mhz... Faux kernels are great!
Sent from my Glacier running CM7
Using a different launcher shouldn't have any drastic impact on your battery life. Maybe if you're using something like SPD Shell 3D which has lots of graphical bells and whistles, but even then I don't think it'll be noticeably bad. (Me personally, I use Go Launcher EX and love it.)
The major sources of battery consumption are GPS and heavy screen use. Leaving WiFi or bluetooth on when not in use also wastes battery because your phone will be scanning for connections. If you're in an area with weak signal, your phone will spend more energy maintaining connectivity than it would in areas with strong signal. If after all those considerations you notice abnormal battery drain, you may have an app that's misbehaving.
If you're rooted and want even more battery savings, you can flash a new kernel that allows the processor to run at lower frequencies when the phone is idle. You can also flash an undervolted kernel, meaning it will perform the same functions but use less battery to do so (not all phones can tolerate this, but I've had no problems on mine). Faux123 has great kernels posted in development.

This needs some clarification. VISIONary is used to gain temproot and then to permroot once you've run a necessary script. In theunlockr's method, the script is the root.sh file; in the gfree method, gfree is the script. You use VISIONary for both methods (unless you have something else for the temproot and permroot). Gfree is widely considered the better of the two because it can do many more things than root.sh can.
Just something to try if you're using the perma-temp root. Grab Autokiller and set it to ultimate (and just for ****s and gigggles, I did the UI optimization that increases homescreen events to 60), and you'll immediately notice less RAM usage and further battery life.
It's pretty awesome
And no, Autokiller is not a task manager (although it can be used as one).
Findings:
250,275,300 Seems to be the most stable if you multitask a lot.
300,325,350 is for those of you who are like me and don't need to multitask (single app at a single time kind of user).
You can go higher, but be careful. For a test, I like to set it higher, turn off the screen, wait a bit for the minfree settings to close off apps, and then text yourself from another phone or from GVoice. If you recieve it, those values are good (depending on your phone usage). For me, as long as the messaging app can stay open and not get killed off, I'm perfectly happy.
Also, at the second set of values (the higher ones), I'm noticing a distinct speed and smoothenss increase in the Rosie carousel as well as the notifications pulldown.

Well, right now, I have about 320 MB of free RAM. I get that "free RAM" is a performance myth, and that unused RAM is useless. But the benefit for me is less battery is being used.
this is good info, thanks
Keep in mind that the higher you go, the less stable multitasking will be. I'm kind of a "single app at a single time" kind of user, so I can afford to go quite high. For instance, if you set it really high, and start listening to music, and then go into your Gmail app, there's a chance that the music app might automatically be killed off.

Just a heads up, sometimes the perma-temp root doesn't always hold after a reboot. If it doesn't, your autokiller settings won't work until you re-root.

That's why in the advanced section, you make it apply the tweaks after 2 minutes, which should be enough time to get it all temp-rooted again

we'll see how that works. it was nice seeing 250mb free though. lol not sure how much battery it actually saved. have to test that tomorrow.
Idea for App:
Basically what I am looking for the app to do is incrementally raise the min and max settings for the CPU, change CPU governor to performance, and run stress test for 30 seconds to 1 minute. It would then repeat until all speeds are verified as good or the phone freezes or reboots. If either occurs then the app would tell the user the last speed that was stable. See here for what I posted in the Vipermod thread for more info of what I am talking about.
Is this possible? Has it already been made and I just can't find it?

I was hoping you would at least do what you said and not reply to this thread anymore since you offer nothing. But since you can't I will explain. If you still don't understand then please follow your own advice.
I am requesting an app. Whether I can or cannot do the same thing with SetCPU is irrelevant. Not just me but a bunch of people are using the flashable overclock daemon for whatever the reason may be. I know I can manually change the settings to find out. I do not want to and I expect it is the same for others. Just as I use Battery Calibrator to remove the batterystats.bin file because it is easier to push a button and have it do the work, I want a program that will do what I am asking by just pushing a button rather than having to go through the terminal or install SetCPU.

yea i know what you mean... sorry, i really was being a bit of an ass now that i reread it. what you want is something to go to next step, benchmark, go to next step benchmark, and continue to do so until the phone cant handle it.
the problem is, [now this im not 100% but its an assumption], that the daemon is specifying a max value. So I can come up with two scenarios.
1.Though it isn't INSMOD (like the LoadableKernelModule) , it is defaulted on boot through init.d script. The only way to reload those scripts, would be to reboot. Perhaps a hot boot may work. So you would need the app to rewrite wake_max_freq, then reboot... then somehow test it (just a cpu load test app). the script would then need to change the default value to a higher one from a list [the one it just stepped up to], and then tell it if AndroidBoot=Fail to revert to last step (which it probably wont be able to do since the phone would lock on boot since you can default a frequency that is too high). Seems like alot of time to me...
2.I took too long to type this and forgot #2
i know it will eventually be done through a real OC'ing script ... but seriously... whats so bad about testing your device?i can test every step (starting at 192) in less than two minutes. Idk i may just be being a hardass since I find that a user should always test his labors. a computer can only say or show so much, your eyes and intuition cannot be processed.
Ok. Didn't realize it requires a reboot. From what it looked like to me it just read the 6 text files and ran it in real time. If it does require a reboot then I can see the problem you are talking about with having it boot loop every time it starts up after the bad setting is ran. Going to have to look some more into how the init.d is set up. Looks like I may just need to learn some shell scripting.

If you want to try another flavor of ROM based off of ICS 4.04, AOKP MIlestone 6, try this:
RandomKing's RandomROM Falcon v 1.3
I like it and would not have known about it except that it showed up as a compatible ROM in GooManager.
NOTE!: I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER, NOR CAN I ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. I'M JUST INFORMING THE COMMUNITY IT EXISTS.
I found it the same way and have been using it myself for about a week now . no problems the only thing i changed were the e-mail and contacts back to standard rather than inverted black and white . plus i like the ability to have sound with my boot animation an option that is not available with the regular Nightly or the AOKP&CM9Remix by SGA .
How does it compare to the other roms in term of smoothness and performance?
Just flashed this rom and I'm liking it.
Trebuchet should be taken out though if Nova launcher is included.
Ran AnTuTu OCd @ 1.78ghz and got a score of 7317 and the highest FPS on the men in armour was 57fps
After having the various CM9 nightlies I am trying out the 1.1 version of this ROM. So far so good... seems pretty snappy. I haven't found anything that doesn't work so far. I chose Nova as the default launcher (seemed to have come with Nova pre-installed?).
Question... how do you change the default email color scheme. Its hard to read. Thanks!

It's a universal inverted Gapps that I use in most of the ROMs I install on the TP. If need be, you could always extract the gmail APK from the ZIP and push it to /system (after changing permissions, of course).
Let me know if this helps you out - I'm curious about this build - and I would like to give it a go, too.

Let me know if this helps you out - I'm curious about this build - and I would like to give it a go, too.

Thanks! The universal inverted GAPPs works great and solved the problem. Many thanks.
Btw, so far I have been able to run all apps I would before using the CM nightlies including youtube , Netflix. No lag at all between screens and everything things to work as fast as before. I believe the dev focuses on battery length but so far it seems to last about the same as my experience with most of the more recent nightlies. Unfortunately wifi is also about what I experienced under CM9 (and weaker than webOS).
I will stay with this a while and see if it continues to be problem free and if any apps have a prob under the new ROM.
Again, thanks for your help, and let me know if I can answer any more questions.

This Link has all of RandomKing's DL . Just click on tenderloin then roms .
http://goo.im/devs/RandomKing . There are some useful tools there as well which are detailed on his site .
question - the title of this thread says v1.1 but its only 1.0 on his site as far as i can see? did you make a typo?
EDIT - never mind, i found the v1.1 on goomanager, but its not listed on his site.
OP. can you please host this on google docs or something??
goo manager is a complete POS for downloading. mine is freezing at like 2MB every time.

Goo is a decent website, and you can go to my space to download. Goo Manager can tell you when a new version is released, which I find pretty useful. 1.1 is currently the newest version, and I've finally updated the website to reflect the proper link. I agree, Goo Manager itself is a little slow and its easier to download straight from the site. I will not provide support outside of my page for this particular rom, but seeing more than 250 downloads on the latest version, I will continue to improve the rom whenever I can.

I gave this try and found out compared to cm9 9/30th it does have a higher battery drain while asleep.. ~-800 vs -45 avg
Both roms connect to my WiFi 5ghz
Other than that the rom seems decent to use if you don't mine the heavy battery drain.
Understand that I clear everything after I made my backup to try the rom, so to say it was on a nearly clean install.

That big of a battery improvement? I'll have to test that out next. I do mind the heavy battery drain.

Interesting. I just checked mine and while asleep mine ranged from a low of -43 mA to to an outlier high of -74 mA, and most of the between -46mA and -48mA. Once I wake it up it varies greatly... -122mA to -820mA, but I am guessing that is dependent on what I am doing (I was watching a lot of Clapton and Knopfler YouTubes) . Are these numbers more in line with what you were thinking RandomKing? Any other battery stat I can provide that might help?

How are you guys measuring this loss? And what is the rate? My tablet averages a little less than 1 percent battery loss an hour while asleep.

Using Battery Monitor app. When I switch to %/hr state it appears to fluctuate between 0% to under 2% loss/hr. I'd guess it would average to around 1% per hour.
Btw I am pretty happy with battery on this ROM, not as good as webOS and definitely less than iOS but pretty good for Android and I think better than CM9. Now, if I could somehow I improve my wifi I'd be golden...

One thing to check, under wifi > advanced > wifi on all the time only when plugged in. Another easy and cheap fix is downloading RootDim from Play Store, which allows you to lower screen brightness way lower than stock. The TP has a very bright display so lowering it down to below 25% is still plenty bright. There are lots of other battery tweeks I am sure including apps that automate the process but the two I suggested are easy. Hope this helps!

Im running a fascinate with cm10 nightly, stock kernel. I was hoping to overclock cpu to 1200 mhz, and I can't figure out a way to do it. I tried changing the gorverner, but they're all capped at 1000 mhz. What can I do?

You need a kernel that is capable of overclocking. If you look through the Development thread, you can find one to do so.

Yeah, but at the time I didn't realize he made a new folder for 1.7., so I looked but all I found was 1.6.1.. but at least, 1.6.1 won't screw your Rom if you have an old partition (current being nightly cm10)--I learned that the hard way.

Actually 1.6.1 was for the newer partition layout I think the last one he made for the old one was 1.5.4 or something. Anyway, he just released 1.7.5 last night, grab it from http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/jellybean/175/ :good::good:
im using the 1.7.5 release on LagFree
i dont want to overclock it tho because idk if it would mess up my phone .

[er, I kinda meant to say "if you have the new partition layout," not old..]
but well...... :S I was right and wrong, because the old partition layout [with /datadata] is technically the "old" layout [the one that everybody always had], until for some reason they decided to move it around, so that you only had 400MB for apps, which I quickly ran out of after restoring my TiBu apps...and then they finally came around and put /datdata back, so theoretically it's the "new" layout, but..well yeah, hopefully you know what I mean.

The reason it was moved around and suddenly you only had around 400MB was because the Fassy has 2 chips, 1 is fast as hell and the other is slow. Problem was, the fast chip only had so much storage space, so that was the trade off, good performance but poor storage space. For the newest layout, Jt didn't simply just 'put back' /datadata, the new layout actually is a completely new arrangement that gives us the fast speed AND storage space. If you want to read about it go over to the CM10 thread on Rootzwiki, Jt explained what he did. What this means in practical terms is that we now have a device with good speed and storage space that can handle the newer Android OSes :good:
whats the worst that can happen if you overclock ?

Short term: Glitchy behavior (freezing/crashing/etc) and random reboots (this is more likely if you're doing Live OC versus just bumping up your CPU MHz)
Long term: Shortened device lifetime due to component stress; in other words if you plan to use your phone for a very long time don't overclock
Not all phones react the same way to overclocking, you might not get the same results as others are. For example, a lot of people seem to have good luck with 110% Live OC, however I can only get 105% on my phone before it becomes unstable.

Yep I accidently at my OC too high once and I got an immediate reboot, setting itself back to std
