Are you able to update you status via friendstream?
If I want to share my status I can post it only to twitter.
Facebook status updates are all there from my friends and me..I can only not post my status via this app.
If I click on "What I'm doing" (Don't know the exact translation) and click on the button with the 3 lines I can disable twitter, but theres no facebook to choose.
I'm not on stock, using mdjs virtuous rom.
Would like to know, if it is working on stock or if its a faulty behaviour of the custom rom.
I just type in the top where it says "What's on your mind?" seems fine to me... I'm on Synergy latest rom.
Then I will try another rom..unfortunatly there are only two for the gsm version yet =/

I have just flashed Alien's 2.3.4 build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186537.
In my previous ATT 2.2 version, the Motoblur will push twitter/facebook/LinkedIn updates to my cell phone automatically. I can read these updates uing the rightmost tab in the contact application. However, it disappeared now.
How can I recover this functionality? Thanks!

After I installed the bloatware, I still can't figure out how to push the twitter...
i believe they actually got rid of that. I can't find it, and i believe i remember someone mentioning that.
When I was using Alien ROM a few days ago, I wanted the Blur "Social Networking" widget which displays social media updates. In order to get this widget back, I needed to install "friendfeed.apk" from Alien's bloatware.zip. I only installed friendfeed.apk, not everything else.
I suspect that you'll need to at least install friendfeed.apk to get the status updates in contacts. However, I'm not sure whether you will also need to put the "social networking" widget on of the home screens.

a few months ago when i was on stock rom and used to update my status via facebook app it usede to say sent via android!!
but recently noticed this!
on openoptimus rom as well as most roms i tried even while updating status via facebook app it says sent via mobile (when i look at the post from comp)..
anyone having similar experiences?
is it some change brought about by fb or some problem in using custom roms>?

Hello I am new here.
I was able to set up custom notifications for all the apps as soon as the msg comes(eg facebook etc)
However, when doing the same for twitter, it does not let me do it. I go into settings and the notification and selecting ringtone section is greyed out. Therefore, I am not able to get push notifications for twitter. I have to go manually into twitter and see if there have been any new messages or tweets directed to me.
I will really appreciate if someone will help me with this.

Not much use to ya but i've just started having this problem on my SGS3.. no twitter notifications (was working fine last week) now i get nothing and the options are grayed out! :/ if i find a solution i'll get back to you!

Perhaps try a new Twitter app. I really like Uber Social myself. It has a fantastic widget. Not sure if it supports custom tones. Try different things and let us know.

A bit more information is needed ....
What rom ?
Are you using TW social hub features ? Or stand alone twitter ?
If stand alone application ....then pm the app developer directly for bug report.....IMHO
Either way ....a different app may help you ....

Sussed it out. The twitter app doesnt do notifcations unless you have android sync enabled. Once i enabled this (on my phone its the "Sync" button in the notifcation area) the options are ungrayed and i can get notifications again

Working great for me. Enabled SMS integration in the app and now all of my SMS messages pop up too. Really nice feature honestly.

interesting well glad its working for you guys - I am not sure what I need to do - should the chat head be automatic? I am getting SMS alerts to messenger - just no chat head showing.
in the messaging app for facebook... go to settings>notification settings> should see a box for "chat heads". enable it. i also made it my main texting app(also in the settings but under sms/mms) not sure if that has anything to do with it though...

I cannot see the Chat Heads options in settings (
I can't get the chat-head's option to show up in settings on my Nexus 4 either. I've tried rebooting and clearing all app data, but nothing.
I found the APK for the new Facebook Home application.. it's only for specific devices as of right now... any way to install on our device to test it out?? Do I have to do something crazy like edit build.prop???
I can't get it to show up on mine, either. Reinstalled both facebook app and messenger app to latest versions. Just don't see any option in notification settings..

Uninstalling/reinstalling both messenger and facebook
clearing app data
reset/shutdown phone
and the combination of the 3
I'd be curious if it started working if you changed your build.prop device entry to one of the strings from a phone that is working. Seen this behavior before, far too often, in apps. Restricting settings based on device model, etc, when they're perfectly capable of working on others.

Yea, I am using a HTC one x, and have just updated from an AOKP rom to a cyanogen mod rom. So supported device and no go. Seen the settings on my girlfriends stock galaxy s 3, and have seen the settings and heads working. The thing is, a friend has cyanogen mod on an unsupported phone and it works.. So I have no idea at all.
I did try to get Facebook home working before during the leaks, and am running android 4.2.1... They're the only things different to everyone else maybe????
For people that have it working and not working, what are your setups? Phone models, roms and their bases? There must be a common factor here, or a mod to enable it... :silly:
Do you have corporate email setup on your phone? I was thinking if it can disable this feature...

No, totally clean install with nothing but the two Facebook apps!
It's working for me, too. Perhaps 'cause I'm on a Sense 5 ROM?

I am running cyanogen mod (nightlies) on galaxy s3. Same issue, I tried many things including clearing cache yet no option in messenger for chat heads..

I think you should leave this issue to the developer of this app ask facebook
yep ask Facebook. probably doesn't support tablets completely yet
I have the same thing happening on my Galaxy Note i717 cell
