You again ... I thought you went back to your Iphone since it is superior to the evo 3d in every way such as having a removable sd card for storage.
Mine was very hard to come out too, the little metal tray on the GSM version has a small lip stopping it from just sliding out. Really have to force it. I just used a fingernail though, not a knife.
It's really not that hard to get out of there. Out of the two I had, and the other 3 that people I know have, it's easy to come out. Snug, but still easy enough to come out without creating a thread asking how to take it out.
You have to push it in to make it pop out. Kind of like sex and the baby that follows.

I believe he meant that it's a great way to make it come out if it angles or snags on the way out.
If you push it back in it reseats and straightens, and it can easily be pulled back out.
Yeah don't rip it out! When its in there push it in further, it will click and spring out. By pulling it straight out like that you are probably breaking the little clip that holds it in there.
No need for knives or paperclips!
Easy!
Once you get the board out of your phone the card will be simple to pop out...

Hi everyone! While waiting for a donor phone to be dropped in my lap at work today, i spent about 20 min taking my phone apart to see what was inside......So please enjoy, and I have some questions about the shielding over the radio components.....any ideas on taking it off? I know i should de solder them but without burning the board? whats the best approach Ive never soldered so please post a link or something. I really want to take a look under those shields. So without further ado taking your housing off!!!!!
Take out all the screws and stuff....helps if you have a fingernail or a pick for pulling it apart too!

Dont forget these ones hiding on the bottom like i did and all the rubber stuff!
Continue all the way around until your back at the top!
Take the housing off until its in 2 pieces like this one.
Pull this screw out by the sd card slot
Pull out the first ribbon cable
Plus this one too!
Pull this black thingy
Pull the sticker to expose the mysterious radio components
and your all naked!!!
now some other pictures and stuff!
Sim card slots n stuff!
Shielded components
Any ideas on how to get them off?
Blurrycam solder points
Stuff
If you guys have ideas please throw them out or a specific pic request let me know Ill do it to help everyone with the next phone i get.

I can tell you from experience that this is a well built phone. Pay close attention to secondary seals under the rear housing and usb/hdmi ports. I had a customer come in with one that had a coffee bath and still worked. The only parts that got wet was between the lcd and digitizer and between the lcd panel and reflector (the mopho was face down on a table when it happened). Except for the coffee staining the reflector panel in the LCD assembly it was good to go after desiccant/hotbox treatment.
U need a hotflow soldier to get those panels of...or bake it in a oven but u will ruin it
I deff don't recommend trying to take those off even if you have the right tools

So when you do get this opened up, keep in mind if there is a n lte chip, it will be a dual wi-max/lte chip, only one has been made between a chip company and motorola and motorola has only made one wi-max phone so ill place my bets the dual chip is in here, ill try to repost with a picture of what it should look like
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
No LTE Support for Photon
No need to find a sacrificial lamb for your curiosity, our phones wont support LTE at all. The Photon has the Wimax Chipset Version bece3502, the Dual mode LTE/WIMAX chipset is the bece5000.
So there you have it, Sucks but its better to know then to ruin a phone.
Ive heard and read its just running the Beceem 3502 drivers for now, ive also heard of sprint representatives saying an update will come for the photon to support lte when theyre network is expanded, what other reason would motorola hide the photons full hardware information until january, when sprint releases theyre "big secret" at ces which im guessing is LTE

Thanks to this dude, I found out how to fix my kickstand (when Sprint couldn't, they said send it to HTC)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28138385&postcount=13
lemme guess OP.. The kickstand got a lot weaker than it first was? Same problem here. You can disassemble the top half of the back and you will see a nut right above the kickstand. Use a fine tip object to rotate it downward to tighten it and put a dab of glue (optional) so it doesn't loosen again. voila!

Well I kinda play around with it since it's fun lol. Less than 200 times though, no idea. Still, a fix is better than broken.
This is good.info although I figured it out by myself..out of nowhere my kickstand got loose and when I was holding the phone the kickstand would hang out a little bit..it drove me nuts..if u shook the phone it would slap around..I took a mini screwdriver and carefully pushed the nut around until the kickstand was tight as **** and its been fine ever since
Put some loctite on that nut

Just be careful -- loctite destroys polycarbonate (it leads to stress cracking). Even loctite fumes can weaken it. I would go with something like super glue. Super glue will cause polycarbonate to become foggy if it comes in contact with it, but it won't cause structural damage.
Thanks for giving me some of the credit
even tho I said to use some glue in that post I never actually tried it, mine gets loose every couple of days. Anyone have good experience using glue after tightening?

Mine just started doing this a few days ago...drove me nuts as well! Did the exact same thing as you with a mini screwdriver (didn't really think it would work), but lo and behold, it worked. My kickstand is as good as new - I just hope we won't have to do this on a regular basis.
Anyone have any feedback on the super glue idea?
I have the loose kickstand problem. I attempted to tighten the the nut, but it just kept on spinning and spinning, without ever tightening. Messing with it actually made the looseness worse! Has anyone else had this happen?
I stripped one of the screws that allows me to get to the internals of the phone. I am wondering if anybody has any suggestions about how to remove it. I saw someone talk about super glue and a tooth pick dropping the supper glue in there and letting it harden the trying to screw it out. But any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Is it totally stripped? Using a screwdriver that is not correct may partially strip it but using the correct screwdriver can still get it out.

yea its totally stripped which is why I was gonna try the glue method
Superglue won't do crap. Only option other than trying a different screwdriver is using a dremmel to remove the screws head.

Yes what he said! A dremel is the best way. There's this lil ball grinder tool that would grind the head of the stripped screw off. Click here for pic. You can buy just one at most hardware stores. Buy one a lil smaller then the screw head if you can. The turn on the dremel and grind the head of the screw off! Basically you put the lil ball head in the stripped portion and grind out the center. The outer portion will come loose. The base of the screw will remain. Ask some friends to see if they already have a dremel. They are quite handy if your crafty!
Wear a headlamp for good lighting and go slow.

basically looking for a dremel recommendation lol just dont want to buy the wrong thing.
Thanks or all the help so far I really appreciate it.
You can use a drill. Find a bit that's the same size as the head of the screw, brace the phone good (extra hands are helpful) and drill off the screw head.
Do you have a Harbor Freight nearby? Or check their website. They have a dremmel like device that has the bits on sale just about all the time.

Do you play a lot of games or hold the device in landscape often?
I'm just spit-balling here, but.. could be oil from your palm penetrating the stock screen protector? or between stock and your screen protector?
Maybe it was there from the start but I never noticed it. Haven't played any games on it or had my finger there.
I really wonder what it is and why you can only see it when breathing on it, when I wipe it clean its really hard to see.
How easy is it to remove the ASF?

I would think it is the coating on the screen protector as well.
As for removing the stock protector, it can be done but by all accounts you will feel like committing suicide halfway through. there is a guide somewhere on here

No this took about 10 minutes. I do not wrap the inside of the band. I cut a price of vynl the length and width of the watch leaving about a half inch every way. Cut that in half and laid it on each ending of the opening on the game for the watch (with the watch out). Heated it and then took an exacto knife to cut it how needed. Because it's not on the bottom or inside of the band it feels just as it would without it.
