HELP!!!!
My x10 mini will not find a network signal to allow me to make/ receive calls/ text messages, however it will allow me to browse the internet, use the facebook app and update timescape. for that reason i know it is not a network problem.
I have also tried my sim card in another phone and experiance no problems at all. i have spoke with my network and they inform me that there are no restrictions on my accound that would prevent me having a signal. i have gone through the network settings and tried both automatic and manual selection of the network, the phone tells me that it is registered on the network when i do either of these methods. i have done a factory reset and using the PC suite updated the software [and used the repair function also]. please HELP
When you go to the screen for choosing between manual and automatic registration, do you see your carrier's name?

Yeah,i go to network operators in the settings and it shows O2 - UK, when i click on it it says "registered on network"
but then i get a message in my notification area saying
no service
Selected Network (O2 - UK) unavailable
yet it will still let me onto the web and let me use the FB and timescape apps.
well....went back to the shop where i brought the phone, they scanned the barcode inside the phone and said "yeah, thats your problem...its been blocked" so a straight swap for another one later and i have a working phone again

This has been discussed many, many times on here and elsewhere. AT&T did NOT release the 2.1 update yet. If you are impatient, you can go here and flash the X10a world generic firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
^^^^^^^^^
I'm a USA AT&T customer. I used that and I have had no problems that were not my fault in the first place
I to am on at&t I flashed 2.1 generic onto my phone no problems just remember to put your apn's in ajd you will jave 2.1 enjoy

A question for those more informed than myself
Hey Guys, wondering if you all could help me out.
I Updated my Xperia X10a on At&t using the flash method and now I cannot connect to the network... I've been looking around, but I cannot find any hits for my issue.
Basically when I go to Mobile Networks and search, it finds the AT&T Carrier, but when I click it and it tries to register it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
Just stumped, that's what I am...

You need to set your APN settings
Go to settings --> wireless & netwroks --> mobile networks --> access point names and creat a new APN as follows:
<name> att
<apn> wap.cingular
<proxy> wireless.cingular.com
<port> 80
<username> not set
<password> not set
<server> not set
<mmsc> http://mmsc.cingular.com
<mms proxy> wireless.cingular.com
<mms port> 80
<mcc> 310
<mnc> 410
<apn type> not set
I tried before to put an APN in, but with slightly different settings (username and passwords)...
Anywho, I tried your settings, I go to APN's and hit menu > New... Fill out all your information, then hit menu > save... It goes back to the blank apn screen... is that normal? or shouldn't it show the new one I just made?

You can then go back and choose it as your default. The settings I have are 100% working.
If that does not work, try repairing your firmware with SEUS.
the screen after you click "Access Point Names" just says "APNs" at the top. When I make a new one, it doesn't show up... ideas?
Also, if I restore with SEUS, will it restore 2.1? or back to 1.6?

You will restore to whatever firmware you have right now. I suggest you do this first (restore using SEUS) then enter your APN settings.
Okay, so I have done a repair through SEUS and gotten back to where I was...
Same issue... I can get into the APNs area and create a new one, but it doesn't seem to save... there is a blank area where I know there should be a list.
Also, let me express my appreciation that you are taking the time to help me.

Weird. OK try Settings --> Sony Ericsson (should be top option in the menu). Make sure you are connected to a WiFi network and try downloading the settings from SE servers.
Lol... Okay so when I go to the sony ericsson thingy...it says "could not download settings. Retry?"
I'm on wifi and I'm able to browse the internet on the phone

Hmmm..
This is a weird problem. So in your APN settings you have no profiles at all?

Guys, it is not APN issue - it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network". I had the same message before unlocking mine. But maybe I have a working hunch. When I received mine locked to TMO UK phone and tried my TMO US SIM, it just stuck on screen with network unlocking key input that is the way locked phone behaves under 1.6. But I blew away dust from my old proxy SIM card for unlocking iPhone 2008 and it worked! I was glad to save some bucks, but when I flashed 2.1, after around 16 hours I got the same error message about network and no service anymore. I had contact issue with this proxy card, so I tried several times and eventually broke it, so now I am unable to research it deeper. Without this proxy SIM card my phone behaved differently - it wanted network unlock code just after turning on. With proxy it booted silently and just showed that the network is unreachable. So I see exactly the same behavior in your phone as mine with proxy SIM card. It sounds weird and I didn't find another case like mine, but look like some way your phone is locked. I remember when iPhone wasn't cracked yet, some phones were hardware unlocked by installing some proxy cards inside the phone (by soldering), so you just need to insert your own card and it worked like unlocked. It is the only logical explanation for me now. How did you get your phone? If it is officially from ATT store, just replace it. If not - Houston, we have a problem.
No, its nothing like that... The phone is a stock att phone from an att store... It was working previously just fine and this whole mess started aster I flashed it to 2.1...
Could I have missed something while flashing I wonder?

Probably not. The only thing is getting the APN settings and all should be working fine. This may be dumb, but are you sure you are entering all the info correctly and then saving the settings. You should then choose it as your default APN.

So one more time:
Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names.
Then press the far left button with the 4 boxes on top of it and click New APN and enter the settings as mentioned earlier.
If not, then try a hard reset. Remove the battery while the phone is still on, remove the SIM card and wait 10 minutes before putting it back in and turning on the phone.
I can't use mobile internet using Sun Cellular (I'm on plan 350), no 3g icon appears when I enable data traffic but I whenever I use a globe prepaid sim, 3g icon appears.
Tried calling SUN hotline, and they told me that I must go to the manufacturer of my phone.
I'm certain that the problem with my x10 since the same thing happened to me when using Globe prepaid sim but I replaced it and bought a new one and the 3G icon would appear.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?
do you have the correct apn settings? I'm not sure anymore what the supposed setting for sun is and if you really have to set it, i'm not in the Phil. anymore. but try putting in minternet or fbband.
Go here and download an Excel file of any phone setting and copy that to your APN... Or follow instruction on http://suncellular.com.ph/ecs_configure.php

There is not x10 mini settings here, but I also tried downloading settings for X8 since its almost the same. but having an error when downloading the settings. it show some php error on the downloaded spreadsheet.
me too
same problem here. 3g wont even show up. using my nokia phone, i always have full 3g signal. with my x8 i only see E (edge lang)?
I have a MMS issue with my Xperia x10i using T-Mobile USA.
before the 2.1 update from 1.6, I could still receive a good quality-sized pictures via MMS. after the official 2.1 update, all I get was tiny-sized pictures and it pissed me off.
I was able to fix this problem with APNdroid before. But it's been a while.
I recently had to do a factory reset on my x10.
Now the same problem occur and though I downloaded APNdroid 2.1, I tried messing with the settings:
main "ON/OFF" button for the 3G/EPRS/GPRS, and checkmarks for
1) MMS enable/disable
2) Display Notification
3) Disable All APNs
I couldn't fix the issue any longer.
If someone could tell me exactly how to set the APNdroid to work, or if there is any other way, please help.
P.S. I did try downloading the MMS settings via Sony Ericsson (Settings->Sony Ericsson->Settings Download-> T-mobile). It didn't work. I don't know what to do with the Access Point Names in the Wireless & network settings-> Mobile network settings.
P.P.S. though it may be irrevelant, the USB pin is damage, so I can't sync or charge the phone via USB anymore. that's why I'm still on 2.1-update1. I'd only been using an external charger and some extra batteries using a microSD card reader to transfer files.
hi there
my gf bought a htc legend when we were living in australia on vodafone network and all worked fine.we have just come back to the uk and have put a new sim in on 3 network.it will make calls text and conect to wifi but will not allow data traffic it just says connecting on the mobile data tab but never does.the sim card allows data has i have tried it in my phone.
any ideas of what i need to do,is it because its from australia, will it work over in the uk,should it,or do i need to do something to the phone to allow data,
any help would be good.
thanks
is the phone unlocked? can it run another sim other then the vodafone one?
or in youre new location youre still on vodafone network?
most likely the phone doesn`t know how to configure the apn for the data
google your network`s android apn and go to settings wireless networks mobice connection set apn create a new one or change the existing one while the phones mobile connection is turned on
Yep, I can confirm this problem may be fixed by identifying and filling in your APN for your network.
I had the same problem, as well, this fixed it.
Thanks allot for the help guys, done it and it works fine now.
