Hello everybody,
I really hope someone can help me with my wifi problems.
My wifi automatically disconnects. Its is not sleeppolicy or what ever.
The time between every disconnection is random.
It is really annoying when I use msn or when I am downloading something on my phone
First I thought that is was a rom problem, but it is not... I've been on different roms like stock, darkys rom and now CM7 Nightlies #95. With every rom I used I had this problem.
I think it has something to do with my installed apps. I always restore them with titanium backup but I have never restored the data or systemapps... so this is not a problem right??
When I kill al the running apps, the disconections stop for a minute or two but after that it......
It is really annoying and I hope someone could help me
Btw when I disable wifi I don't have any problems.

Can someone please help me. My Vibrant just randomly restarts or freezes mostly w/calls. I didn't have these issues until I received T-Mobile's OTA the other day. I came here and seen others complaining about the exact same thing. I then began to read the instructions, on how to get into Download mode and flash J16 through ODIN. I thought I was all good until my phone would start to reboot w/incoming and outgoing calls and randomly freeze on me. I thought it was an issue with that specific ROM so I flashed JC OC/UV ROM and yet the problem persist. Does anybody have an idea as to what the problem is? Oh, by the way I am ROOTED.

Had similar issues, used rom manager to boot into recovery menu, fixed permissions from there, then cleared dalvik cache and that fixed my problem.
Sorry! Didn't work.

Do you have any gameloft games or adobe reader?
My phone freezes like that whenever I've used a different kernel with Voodoo. But it sounds like you have the problem with or without a different kernel.

Yes I have Asphalt, and Avatar. I also have Adobe Readerâ„¢. Is that what's causing it? If so; what about those apps and games cause my phone to randomly reboot and freeze?

I'm also overclocking. However this was happening before I started overclocking as well.

Make sure your min setting in setcpu is 200 and set the Max to 1 ghz. Apparently some phones cannot handle OC'ing, mine being one of them. I personally prefer the stock kernel because I have only had problems with other kernels with or without Voodoo.
As for adobe reader, if you search you will find several posts regarding an issue whereby the app causes our phones to randomly reboot. Same with some gameloft games. I for a fact know hero of Sparta is no good in this regard.
Good luck

Do you have something that blocks network access, like DroidWall, installed?
EDIT: To clear up - DroidWall has the ability to block an app's access to the network for 3g, wifi, or both. So it's POSSIBLE, if you have it installed, that you have it allowed for 3g, but not for wi-fi.
That said: is it ONLY on your home wi-fi that you get this? Try it on another wi-fi network. Does it work on any other wi-fi network? If so, then if you think there is no firewall on your home wi-fi, then I think you're wrong.
it does not on any wi fi network and I did not installed any kind if firewall app

Not a very large sampling size. I'd try some more.
EDIT: someone else on here was having trouble with a web site on wifi, that worked on 3g. Turned out he had issues with his hosts file. If you're rooted, look in /etc for a hosts file, and see if it has addresses for vlingo in it. I don't know what those addresses might be, you'll have to research that yourself.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
the folder is actually created by an apk to prevent ads in games and there are done urls that are redirected to some IP will look if vlingo is in it
EDIT: deleted the file still doesn't work one thing I noticed it gives.error when it hear noises if I don't make any noise then no error it just waits for command

Hmm. Well, SOMETHING is blocking your phone from getting to vlingo's servers when you're on wifi. ... But I've run out of ideas, if you're SURE you don't have a firewall on your home wifi, and you got rid of your/etc/hosts file.
How many other wifi networks have you tried this on now?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I woke up and voila it works with home wi fi . don't know what happened :-D now the market problem remains only. market apps not showing
EDIT: again the problem :'(

I'm looking at upgrading to a newer phone next month and I was wondering if there was a ROM out there that didn't have the phone portion set in. I want my phone to be like a iPod so my kids can play with it.

I think if you were to freeze phone specific things it couldn't harm anything, but I recommend you go to froyo then do it, for the sake of battery or you could just put it in airplane mode then hide the phone related apps I'm sure that would disable 911 too

I have what you need, let me remove the phone short cut from the launcher and I can get you into a rom set up as nothing but a media player.
Should have around 50 megs footprint.
Let me know if interested.
Edit: I'll put it together and post it for everyone, tonight hopefully.

Hello All,
This is regarding one of the most annoying issue that many users like me are facing.
I'm currently running neat rom lite version 4.7.
Please know that I have searched through Google to know about this issue, but apparently there were only problems mentioned but no solutions for it.
Please look into the attached image and suggest if anything can be done with regard to this?
Thanks in advance

Nothing of this is mentioned on the ROM thread?
Looks like an ad, a factory reset should solve it.
It must be related to a certain app; which one? I dunno

Hehe.. The funny thing is that i have tried multiple rons but its always been there.. It is defintely not coming from a user installed app
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Not so lite after all.
Are you sure the dev doesn't know how to remove that or why it's there?
Hold on, there's got to be a way to disable that, check your settings.
Sent from the little guy
Haha..
Well I hope someone can come up with a solution for this

Maybe there is something wrong......after wipes, did you use Titanium Backup to restore apps?Maybe one of them is creating the issue. Also, you can try to run a Nuke Script, after hat flash a CM 4.2.2 ROM
Well after reinstalling the rom, i used a software called mybackup pro to restore everything.
If i remember right, even after the full wipe and reinstall, this problem persists
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
That's a settings conflict, restore the app, try txting and then restore your previous settings.

Could you please make it clear what you meant?

Factory reset.
Txt yourself.
Pop up notifications shows up?
Only restore apps.
