Hello,
How can i extract language settings, fonts, etc (NOT CSC) from specified rom, and place them into another one? Thank you.
Not sure what you mean by language settings but fonts are in "system/fonts"
Just swap them over.

Where this folder is placed? In .tar archive?
By language settings I mean interface and input languages.
I'd like to know too, it would stop me nagging devs to install this-and-that language on their ROMs.
I've searched but never found a tutorial - it may well be beyond me, but I'd love to try.
Edit - forgot my own post... in theory this should work according to someone - will try myself tonight.

This is not exactly what I want. This thread is just talking about the input methods, and I want to get the interface as well.

Did it work?
Would love to have the Nordic keyboard/dictionary back.

Haven't tried it yet - trying to summon up the balls...
Will give it a try tomorrow on some old backups for interest's sake. I'm using Revolution ROM, and all Nordic keyboards are there (presume dansk dictionary is there too, haven't tried, but norsk is there).
Thanks for the hint about Revolution ROM.
I'm now a total convert. LeoMar rules.

Did you succeed in getting this done? Searched every single post for an answer, nothing. At least nothing for Windows Mobile 6.1 on my HTC Touch Pro.
Cheers
Hi mates,
I've seen a conversation about this subject on a thread some time ago.
Here is the link of that thread:

The conversation begins on page 7 and 8 but the answer and a link to another thread about icons is on the page 9. That link is here:

Give a try to look there..

One more question though (since you're online), when i am doing changes on manilla files and those shell DLLs and so on, am i playing with the original ROM?
In other words, i want to play with my mobile as i wish, but when i choose to do factory defaults, i want it all to be gone and do things from scratch, is that too late for me? Am i already playing with the factory ROM?
Cheers Kardash
I don't know what you do exactly but if you use and run some applications like rom upgrade utility (RUU) probably u are changing or already have changed the original one.
Don't be concern with it, no problem i think, there are so many modified WM6/6.1roms here and there is also official WM5 rom you can easily find.
Kardash (kardeş) means "brother" in Turkish, did you mean this? if so, how do you now?
Regards,

Thanks for your reply, as for the ROM, well, i did not run any utilities, but i am overwriting manila files and dlls, and when i do so, i get a message from Resco Exporer telling me that i am modifying the ROM, so that freaked me out, i do not wanna loose the official rom on my HTC Touch Pro. As for Kardash (Kardeş), well, i once visited turkey, it was lovely, and i learnt this word there Then when i saw that ur from Turkey

Update = No update?
I hate using my stylus for typing so i really want This keyboard..
So if anyone can figure out a way to do so. PLEASE.
I will donate a bit
1100 views and no answer.. im guessing this is alot harder on 6.1.
So i will go back to 6.0 now And i will bump this thread once a week or so untill we get an update
THanks!
I think not to many WM6.1 users are in need of a swedish keyboard....
But hee, all of is lerned to adapt our Prophets by just trying. So, give it a try!
If you run into specific problems, errors or questions, feel free to ask for advice. But remember, be specific...
GOOD LUCK! I love to hear/see the results.
Okay. Lets explane it a bit more.
I copy my files to the windows DIR.
Install the reg file that used to work on wm6.0.
then i soft reset. And check the keyboards. Only the standard keyboards keyboards are listed.
Can you check it out? anyone?
THanks.

Is it that the keyboard is not installed generally? And so you must first install it, and then modify it...

Ive installed it exactly as i did on wm6.0! (check previous post).
I think it needs some modification!
Thats the swedish language files, but I think you also need to install the basic (english) keyboard for those files to do anything...
Dosent that come with the rom from start (basic eng keyboard?) I do got a eng keyboard so im not sure what you mean. .
All i know that i cant get it to work and need a working solution! :=)

You need to install the Touch keyboard first, the english standard one. It contains the files needed to get the swedish one to work. I can not test it at the moment but will try as soon as I find the time.
Tested it just now and it works great!
I don't think Prophet ShadoW comes with the touch keyboard. You need to install it before you can make it swedish language.
i flashed energyrom. its fast but my keyboard configuration all ran off..
i need a stock rom.. but i cant get it from htc web..

Your first post, ... and it aint that good.
Have you searched the forum ? There are several stocks rom's posted around ...
By the way, in which language ? If not mistaken Energy is WWE (WorldWideEnglish), so you want which ? ... Update your profile.
****************
Thats one of the things that are missing in the support for >HTC Touch Pro ... one way of changing the physical keyboard layout, unfortunately most ROM's are using the WWE keyboard, which sucks.
But still, all the roms posted are great and are a result of sacrifice and effort of our cookers here in XDA, and i thank them for it.

not good? what you mean? i dont understand..(not offending)
i need a english rom i guess.
anyway how to change keyboard changer?
fyi by config ran off i mean the full qwetry keyboard where you can press on the fn button and caps button and so on..

It was a little humor, but nevermind.
Please u should read the wiki and check that there are several ROMs for several languages. If it is english, in that case any WWE will do.
By searching found this:
Think its what u are looking for.
Just like i said XDA EWiki rocks the world ! Thx Xda.
Just cruising xda.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, You got country ROM plus carrier ROM, in short, check your country + carrier to see if there is anything specific. If not just use one unbranded (no carrier, operator whatever is named).
If ya got time, check also this post: Perhaps u could also find something usefull here.
Here the link to the stock rom:
http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=all
This is only for the verizon touch pro. Do not flash this rom if you have any other phone company. Flashing a different company rom will cause you to have a flash code error which is kinda annoying. HOPE THIS HELPS!!
Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

Thanks to all the xda collective!
I have had the same problem, but i was in the need of the swedish keyboard. I have managed it by changing the keyprint-xml to the original (swedish) one.
.. system/usr/Keyboard-config/keyprint.xml
Try to change this file to the original spanish one. It needs to have permissions 644 after the change.
Alternativly you can edit the file and change the following line in the file:
<script name="latin" keylayout="qwerty-en" /> to <script name="latin" keylayout="qwerty-br" />
Could anyone tell me step by step how to change the keyboard layout? Since yesterday my phone use the english keyboard layout and I don't know how to fix it.
