Why are my ping times longer on my new evo 3d then they were with my evo 4g? This is all the time. My 4g would hit sites much faster.my evo 4g was almost always 80ms to 95ms ping pretty much thru most of los angeles on 3g, while my 4g is averaging 180ms to 195ms. Is there a fix for this?

It keeps jumping into roaming in a good coverage area (my home) and I can't even use the roam service, its like I have no service. The only way to go back to sprint service I have to update the prl , sometimes 3 times a day.
Any ideas?

There seem to be two reasons behind these signal issues.
1. AFAIK the antenna on this is on the bottom, as opposed to on the top for the EVO 4G.
2. Sprint service started having nationwide problems right before the release of the EVO 3D. Some of it has to do with tower outages, some of it has to do with tower overloads (due to so many new customers) and some of it has to do with recent changes in roaming agreements with Sprint and its partners (as in on-network roaming, which is now either not part of the roaming agreement or counts as off-network roaming due to contractual agreements)

I use the app "roam control" from the market. I got it a couple of days ago because I have the same issue at my beach house. You can choose force home network or force roam.

Dude be careful using that app. Sprint is cancelling contracts with no warning because of people roaming and constantly using other towers while on data and making calls. It's cost sprint money when you do that.

I heard that was not true. Whatever. Roaming is not bad.
I wouldn't mind roaming if my phone actually worked in it. I can't call or receive calls and text messages never go through.

Oh! If that's the issue call Sprint and tell them that. They can fix that, I think It's just a problem with the hands free activation because you should be able to send/receive/call just like normal.
As for cancelling, yeah I think they can do that without warning if you data roam more than 50% of the time. But i really doubt they will notice/care unless you're using gobs and gobs of data while roaming, and since its at your house I assume you use WiFi. I still recommend the app.

Honestly I don't know about the using to much data thing but using to much data while roaming and being terminated for it is real. Some people actually do it to get out of their contract. Wouldn't you think sprint cares about canceling your contract if your costing them more money than what you owe every month?

All of a sudden out of nowhere its seems as if I can't tether whatsoever. Not even native WiFi tether will work. Did sprint blocked my ability to tether? It's weird because I have not yet seen a letter or recieve a call, and its not like I tether on a daily basis. Who knows. I was just posting to see if anyone had similar issues. O, and by the way, I'm on showdowns ROM.

Nope, still isn't working. I just think sprint has something to do with it. I've tried every WiFi tether app including barnacle and sprint mobile hot spot tether app. It just won't work.

Stupid me. I found out the issue. For some reason applications running as root wasn't white listed in Droid wall. Thanks for the updated tether apks though.

Everyone keeps saying no because of the chinese dev, i guess they dont have 4g out there, but some guy said they shld be getting lte soon. One can only hope for 4g at this point.

LTE? No Wimax?
Yup lte, its all good cause sprints dumping wimax nd switching to lte , hopefully we get any progress to 4g that wld be the greatest, i had miui on my og evo and really missed having my 4g. Its just one sacrafice on having this badass rom.

I am honestly more concerned with the 3D aspect. I have some 3D games i purchased and would love to be able to use the feature that sets the phone apart. I guess its a sacrifice I will have to live with.
The EVO 4G been out for a year Wimax on cyanogen mod been out for 8-9 months, if they added it by now I doubt but who knows

i agree i love the hell outta this Rom but the 4g is kinda being a dealbreaker for me. I guess i will still flash this Rom sometimes but it wont be a daily driver for me. For daily drivers i guess il just have to stick to Synergy and CM7

I am quite concerned about that as well i read somewhere that they are working on the 3D. But not a word on 4G.

When I had the HTC Hero I was hitting that upload at peak & averaging 800Kbps upload. My Downloads were around 2.2Mbps down.
Those are Rev. A speeds. Glad to see that they're returning.

Yes, many smartphones in the Sprint line-up will. The question is if Sprint will be smart & activate it on the newtork. All the ducks are lined up.

wow it couldn't be more opposite for me in central Florida. I work for AT&T installing the cell equipment and I have Sprint. No wonder so many Sprint users are complaining about 3g speeds.
Average 3g in Houston, TX :
Taken on the way home from work... tonight.
But, yeah, 3g is usually between 1&2..
(Not really that impressive, IMHO.)
