I flashed the Glitch kernel...
this where I'm still a learning n00b...
I get the Glitch graphic when the phone is powering on but how do I know if this kernel is FULLY working? Or is it?
If you get the glitch boot animation and your phone is properly running...odds are its installed fine, but you should go and grab voltage control from the market so you can overclock and under volt to gain the most from this kernel.
Voltage control will also verify whether or not you have the glitch kernel since it doesn't work with stock kernels.
As side note I also recommend grabbing cpu spy (also in market) to see what speeds your processor is running at.

well you're seeing the glitch image, so it is working. I can't remember if the lagfix is enabled by default, if so, then you really do nothing. If not, then enable it with clockworkmod.
What I usually do is download Quadrant from the market and run a benchmark. If lagfix is not enabled your score should be around 850ish, if it is enabled, you should get 1500ish score.
Hope this helps... which rom are you using? and how do you find it?

MTD doesn't use lagfix. Which the glitch kernel for vzw fascinate is only to be used on, mtd roms.

Yeah it isn't voodoo lagfix, just voodoo sound and color. MTD runs better than voodoo ext4.
If you get the glitch boot logo then it worked, you're on glitch. To get the most out of it download Voltage Control and Voodoo Control from the market, voltage control lets you control the CPU and voltages to save battery and get performance customizations while voodoo control gives you some cool options with sound to enhance the quality of music and color to make the screen look however you want.
Now I hit over 2,000. I have no idea what it means, lol.

It a benchmark.. quadrant runs a series of tests.. i.e. memory read/write speeds, cpu, graphics, etc.. the it gices a score on each test, combines them, and compares them with other phone models.
I think I'm beginning to understand.
I went to the Voltage Control and jacked it up to 1700mhz and this phone basically flies out of my hand, and the battery life basically dies. So I lowered it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
If you can do that without the phone messing up, you're on the right leakage. lol
The new glitch 12 release has some recommended setting you can try out.

It's still beta, right? I want to wait until it's stable. Isn't that the best idea?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
No, beta doesn't mean "it isn't ready for people to use" but just that it isn't fully 110% stable and still might have some bugs. It'll probably never be "stable" just because of the spotty hardware and other issues, but I've been on glitch since it came out and it has been perfectly stable. If you wait for an officially stable release you'll likely never get to experience the awesomeness that is Glitch.
v12, like v11, has been rock solid for me as well.

Start with high and with your way down in leakage and see which is the most stable or can handle the most overclocking...all phones are different and handle leakage values differently but i'm pretty sure that low leakage is the most efficient and generates the least amount of heat but some phones will preform the best and be the most stable on medium or high..experimentation is probably the best answer

Aloha! I have blackhole 4.21 (4.4 is a little unstable on my my phone right now, until I figure that out later on), EB01, running voodoo and I have setcpu. Any recommendations for addons, etc that would give me higher benchmarks? I'm happy with performance so far, but if I can get even more out if it that would be sweet.

Benchmarks mean nothing in real world performance. What will help the most in real world performance is VooDoo.

anybody get the sleep of death on their phones? ive read about it and i just had one last night when i was on a charger. im overclocked to 1228/268 running on demand.
could it be the kernel doing this? im running kangbang on cm7. should i ask for a replacement phone or try to change my governor?
SOD is almost always kernel related and was a big issue when I had the Captivate. Lowering the clock speed usually fixes it but each phone and cpu has different thresholds, one incident isn't much cause for alarm. Run a cpu stress test and see if you're stable at your current configuration.

the only kernel that likes my phone is kangbang but im seeing he has an LTE mod included and that might explain why my data gets jacked at times. since when does the kernels play a role in 4g/3g speeds?

It could, dhemke had me test a ROM for him a few months back that had 4g issues due to the way the kernel was cooked into the ROM. Kernels are like drivers in the windows world, its the software that directly interacts with the hardware.

what kernel are you on? the kernel that came with it (jts) or did you flash glitch kernel afterwards? If you have jts kernel you can only OC to 1300 and you phone should be able to handle that easily. If you are on glitch it depends on how you like your phone really. When I was on glitch I OC'd to 1440 and UV 100 every step ( I am not using the 100 state).
glitch kernel with -100mV on 1.0-1.4GHZ Will work. I don't have The random keyboard popups

Like this set up so far. Glitch ml 9-22 and 1.4 -100 ever step, cfq scheduler. Runs very smooth.
Edit: so I still get keyboards popping up but not as bad, it still does activate the back button, this is extremely frustrating especially when trying to open apps or use them. This happens when the signal indicator reads 1or2 bars.

Did you ever find out anything on the phantom keyboard popups? I too have always had them and it's really annoying!! I was starting to just think it was something with my phone cause it has happend on every rom i've used.
I have found that I have them a whole lot more often if im running the CM7 Kernel even with the latest nightly build.
I'm currently running the Glitch kernel and it is a whole lot better but I still might have them once or twice a day.
Sorry for the long delay but I have dug a little deeper on this subject. I ran the most recent stock rom and kernal and could not get the pop ups. Once I flashed a mtd rom they came back. I have not tried Enyo's newest rom to see if the pop ups and phantom menu and back button depresses. This problem occurs if the screen is spotless clean or if it's dirty with oil from your hands or what have you. I imagine someone is working on a solution at this time and would be free to test any and all solutions for devs.

There's no overclocking or voltage adjustments available with the stock kernel. You can change governor and I/O scheduler but that's it for now.

What is the purpose of I/O? Right now I'm using setcpu with governor set to on demand and a special profile set so when my screen goes off the CPU turns down. My battery life still totally sucks lol

Ah yeah, I haven't used setCPU since I had my incredible, but with those kernels you couldn't change things like I/O scheduler so I didn't know if you could with the right kernel. I definitely prefer voltage control and it seems to just work best with galaxy S phones. There's also Pimp My CPU but I haven't tried it yet.
You can read about I/O schedulers, but usually the default setting is best. You're possibly not really saving battery with a screen off profile that throttles your CPU. I've seen it postulated that with the phone being able to scale up the CPU when the screen is off, it can accomplish whatever it needs to faster, and therefore get to deep sleep faster (where your phone is consuming the least power). Not really sure if it's true, but it sounds plausible. Also, I've seen that glitch V14 has a deep idle feature, which I think in theory at least, is supposed to be even more efficient than deep sleep. I don't know much about it though or how well it's working on the fascinate.
So far, my battery life seems to have taken a bit of a hit with ICS too, but I'd like to put it through a few more charge cycles before making too much of a judgement.

Kernel bro. You need a kernel with the abilities to overclock. Stock kernel can't.
Tegrak in the market. Buy the ultimate version for oc as high as ya want + core and internal voltage tweaks.
The free version lets you oc a little & no voltage adjustments.

This may sound a bit patronizing but if you cannot over clock due to the wrong kernel and not realize it, it may be best to do more research and make sure you understand what's going on before trying to over clock.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
It does sound patronizing, but I can't blame you for trying to warn him/her. A lot of people have experience with computer OCing though, and may be new to Android.

I understand that people overclock their computers, but overclocking an android device is different since you cannot just boot into the bios, thus I encourage people to research before trying something they may be unfamiliar with. Otherwise someone will have to end up hoping their warranty/phone insurance or whatever will cover something going wrong due to overclocking.
you can only overclock with a kernel that is compatible with overclock
Do you really need to over clock? I haven't seen a reason to on this beast of a phone. Its not like the captivate was.
