[Q] com.android.phone problem - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running Revamped SS (1.8.19) on my vibrant and I'm having a weird force close issue. I get a com.android.phone error about every 2 or 3 seconds unless I'm in airplane mode. When I'm not in airplane mode I still can't get any cell reception. I can't even access the mobile networks option in the settings. I tried taking the SIM out and still it's the same. I've tried rebooting, clearing all caches, removing task killers, flashed a different modem, and even reflashed my entire ROM, doing a system format. I've also wiped dalvik cache and fixed permissions. Please send me any suggestions. I need my phone to be working and this is extremely frustrating..

i think you'll have to do a factory wipe/reset inside CWM. also, don't use the 2g/3g toggle widget, as the FC on android phone will happen. (known issue)

[Q] 3G Data Required for 2.2 ROMs?

I've been trying to flash custom 2.2 ROMs onto a friend's X10a and have repeatedly encountered "com.android.phone" crashes. (I've previously flashed many ROMs so I've been through the usual debugs: crash system server, etc.)
The baseband flash is successful (no "unknown baseband" issues) and WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth all work.
I've tried the following combinations of Iris (Froyo) v1.7.3 on:
Firmware 504: .49, .52, .54
Firmware 435: .61, .67
All wipes (system, cache, data, Dalvik, battery) are performed before flashing the custom ZIP. System server is crashed at least 3 times on each trial to allow the ROM to settle and radio to activate but no dice. :-(
Scenarios tested:
No SIM: loads fine
- power off, insert non-data SIM, boot: repeated com.android.phone crashes, ROM unusable (crash system server, factory reset, no effect)
Non-data SIM: repeated com.android.phone crashes, ROM unusable
- connect to WiFi, restart, still com.android.phone crashes despite working browser and other Internet applications
Data SIM: loads fine
- restart with non-data SIM: com.android.phone crashes
- restart with data SIM: fully functional
- activate airplane mode, restart with non-data SIM, no crashes
- deactivate airplane mode, repeated crashes, unusable
Any help or insight is appreciated.
Repair his phone with SEUS, then try reflashing the ROM without a simcard.
Op you should know not to post question in the wrong section

[Q] Process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly

First and foremost, a huge thank you to all of you who have helped to make the Atrix the phone it should be. You guys f*****g rock!
Now, as the title says the phone process stopping unexpectedly. I've tried wiping the cache, factory reset. Reinstalling the rom. I went to apps and wiped the email data. Disabled auto synchronization. Fixed permissions. Sacrificed a lamb. This only seems to happen to me when I install an AT&T GB rom (Kenneth's rom, Nav's Pie Crust, etc)
Currently I'm using Pie crust, and the issue persists.
Is there anything else I can do?

Unchangeable phone

Hello,
Basically, my phone works. I can call, sms, photograph and so on, but:
When I try to flash new rom, via Kies, Odin or other tool everything goes smoothly, blue progress bars advance and complete, phone reboots, and ... I have old rom, nothing is changed, no data is deleted.
When I install new apps they work until I power off phone. After power on new and updated apps are gone, deleted SMS are back, it looks like the phone inside was frozen in time some time ago and all that is going on is going in ram or some virtual machine, and vanishes.
It happened some weeks ago, I cannot recall when exactly. Something I installed was suddenly missing and SMS after reboot came back, but I ignored it then like a sporadic glitch.
I just discovered, that I also can't do factory reset. System recovery <3e> shows, but doing wipe data or wipe cache has no effect. Nothing gets wiped, apps and data remain intact. The only unusual thing I see in the recovery console is:
Can't access to '/system/csc/PLS/system/'
Is it a virus or is it just broken or what?

I suggest doing a deep clean...

S2 stuck in call mode

I've searched around the forums and so far, most of the results were people having trouble with their phone getting stuck in recovery/boot/download mode.
My phone, however, is stuck in the call mode where the keypad takes up most of the screen. Everything else is working fine with the phone, as I can see unread text messages and other programs that running and notifying me of updates in the background. Wifi and data work fine as well.
The problem is, I can't get out of the call keypad mode and into my home screen with all my apps. I've tried restarting, turning it on/off, taking out the battery, and charging it via USB to the computer. Nothing is working! Please help :crying:
Clear data on phone & if that doesn't work maybe try a factory reset ?
Do the following steps below:
- Boot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
- reboot system now
This issue sounds familiar......like a launcher problem. I have 3 fixes:
Clear data of your launcher
or download another launcher, by trying to get to your play store app by universal search or from the playstore on the pc
if strangely none of the above works, flash another rom or reflash your rom if you like it that much
Note that this message should have been the 1st, cause if im right the two solutions you recieved above should work. The problem is if your running stock ics 4.0.4, you may end up with the emmc brick bug if you use recovery or do a factory reset. We dont know what your using since you never told us.

"No service" system bug

A friend gave me a sm-j510fn, having the "no service" error. Phone reads sim card w/ contacts etc. and sim has signal on other phones so it's phone related.
Tried various things like IMEI number check, airplane mode works but when turning it off, icon is stuck "midway", not completely grayed out. Also tried partition cache wipe from recovery mode. Manual mobile signal search gives error and nothing else.
I don't want to risk rooting it so as last thing I'm probably going to do a factory reset, should I try something else before that?
Update: I went ahead and rest the phone but the problem persists. Could the phone antenna be busted? Wifi works fine when connected
