At last all these days I spent reading the posts and finally got a chance to post in here and dared to ROOT my phone.
Need advice please help me with tips how to back up my stock ROM and safest way to install custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S II.
I know its a stupid question to ask when we can find a lot of posts online however I would need one last advice to risk it.
Thanks a lot...!!!
Thanks All.

Isint there anyone who can help me with this??
If you're rooted, and installed CWM, then boot into CWM recovery to backup your stock rom.
First picture in this thread is CWM recovery. This is where you do your backups/restore, and flash custom roms.
I tried to use ROM Manager and back up my stock ROM but getting a message "Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su"
Any advice how to fix this???

I have downloaded the superuser and installed it is asking me to update Binary from the CW Mode, bot M not able to boot to the CW mode as ROM manager is still not able to find the superuser.

Have searched the threads and did not come up with anything pertaining to unlocked Gtab that seemed to clearly explain( to me) what the easiest methods are to root and apply CWM. The one I did find I found confusing. I am also considering just installing CWM recovery and then installing the new rom with the Touchwiz update which is also rooted. Is this possible to do and what would the easiest method be for installing CWM(I am familair with Odin and remotely acquainted with Nvflash. I would prefer Odin if that is feasible. I found a thread that was for the locked version but am hesitant until I find out for sure that it also works with unlocked device. Also is there a downside to just installing CWM and then having custom rom root the device? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!
watch this

download the files in the description
it takes 2 min
when you're done install ROM Manager,
do a nandroid backup if you want and
install the Touchwiz ROM,
after that do the root procedure again if you want root again.

Ok thanks and I hit the thanks button!!!
When installing the T3rabyte version will all of my installed apps and data still be available or do I need to reinstall everything. Sorry for such a newbie question but it would be a pain to have to reinstall all apps. I assume the OTA would not do a complete factory reset?
Hi everyone I just bought a Galaxy S 2 four days ago. I rooted it with CF root via Odin. Thanks to Chainfire for that. What I wanted to ask was that the kernel just roots the phone and provides us with Superuser and all the rest of the apps. If I make a back up from CWM will it back up my whole Os which is Stock Samsung Touchwiz?
And also I would like to ask, Can I start flashing Roms now through CWM Flash zip option?
I am facing another problem I am trying to check for any updates but the problem is that when i try to check for updates it always says that it has failed even when i am connected to wifi!
Can anyone please help me with that too!
Thanks in advance!

Whole OS and apps but you need first time have an EFS backup seperate see threads .

Only if the rom instructs you to flash via CWM .

OTA updates on phone do nor work use KIES but you have changed your firmware and codes may no longer match for KIES updates .

JJE, sort your quoting out man xD
Anyway.
1) Yes if you make a backup in CWM it will back everything on your phone up, including everything in /system.
2) Yes you can start flashing ROMs.
3) Because you're rooted Kies stuff will not longer work.

this kernal works best with the leaked rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
It will root your phone and give you cwm.
you may not see in the apps drawer because it attached to power menu. just press power to find it.
Please read around xda as well if you don't know what you are doing with regards to rooting as you can cause damage to your phone and even brick it

This should do the trick for you. It's from BlownFuze's dev thread and I've used it twice to clean up my phone after flashing so many ROMs.

I just remembered that there is a newer TWRP version than what his thread will have you download, but 2.5.5.0 will work just fine
Hi, i recently rooted my verizon galaxy s4 with software version 4.3 and MJ7 build using the chinese superuser method etc. I wanted to install a rom so i have been searching for a way to install (any) recovery but everything doesnt work! I tried using gooManager but it always gives me an error. I tried installing cwm through ROM manager but after i installed it and "booted into recovery", it got me stuck in download mode which then i had to do a battery pull and cancel the operation.
I really want to install any recovery on my phone so i can install ROMS and be safe incase i brick my phone. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Any threads that cover this issue would be helpful, but i havent been able to find one! if you have any links or downloads with instructions, that would be very helpful
Thanks
