I just bought a Sandisk 32GB micro SDHC card from Gizzmoheaven on Amazon (£35.67) and want to verify if it's genuine. The reason I'm not 100% is that the card arrived in a clear square plastic case without any other packaging. The details on the card all seem to match up with a genuine card though from photos I've seen googling around, i.e. all the correct text and logos on the front and dimples on the back.
My empty card shows up as 29.71GB total space available. Does that right? I know not to expect 32GB but want to know if others are getting the same.
This is what my card looks like

That size is absolutely normal. Card seems pretty OK too. Start using it, you will gradually know if it's original or not
Regards.
So for every GB you lose ~74MB i think this is about right, so yeah looks about the right amount of space left on the card
I also have that exact SanDisk had it for a year capacity is correct , but it can also depend on manufacturer ,
for example i got new ADATA 32GB Class 10 , its very fast and one extra bonus is has more space then others 30.91GB vs 29.71GB .
Thanks guys. I feel a little more easy now.
Hardware size and software size are different.
32GB
Software:
32GB = 32*1024*1024*1024 = 34,359,738,368 bytes
Hardware:
32GB = 32 * 1000 * 1000 * 1000 = 32,000,000,000
Converted back to software,
32,000,000,000 / 1024^3 = 29.80GB
Don't forget about clustering and the space used for Partition Table and File Allocation Table.
Just an update.
I've received a reply from Sandisk and they have verified that my card is genuine. Mind at rest now.

I am going to order the 32GB from Bestbuy to use with my OTG cable for my DNA. Figure I can "plug in" for Recovery and Titanium backups then use WiFi for Streaming Music and Video.
The 16GB stick is $49.99 & the 32GB Stick $59.99 on Bestbuy.com
Drive's priced $99.99 for 64GB on Amazon's site.

Okay... Picked this 32GB WiFi stick up earlier today... And was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a WiFi stick with a 32 GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SD card within the unit (which is a $40 class 10 card).

Another thing I found cool was that you can be connected to the WiFi stick and still be connected to the internet via your WiFi Network at the same time (something my older Seagate WiFi harddrive I mentioned in the OP isn't able to do).
Sent from my HTcDNAoNE
is it possible to use the wifi storage at the same time with 3g connection?
otherwise you will loose internet when using the stick on the road with your mobile.
Anyone know which one is better to use and why?

The red ultra one is "better" in that is has a higher speed rating.
The black one is Class 4 (4 MB/s minimum speed). Some folks on here have mentioned that Class 4 is too slow for Zoe clips (and other functions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732418
The red/gray "Ultra" card is UH1 or UHS Speed Class 1, which is minimum 10 MB/s.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_class_rating
This is all assuming that the SD cards are genuine (purchased from a reputable source, etc.) and as-marked. Places like eBay are flooded with counterfeit SD cards, marked falsely with incorrect company logos, speed class ratings, capacity, etc.
I just got the same "Ultra" card as in your photo (Sandisk 32 GB) from Amazon to use on my M8.
And how has it been working for you?

Can't really say yet. I just go it (and put into the phone) Saturday afternoon. All is fine so far, but all I've done is put music on it, and taken a couple photos.
I've always used Sandisk for my mobile devices, and they have always been reliable and work great.

Oh ok. I always had both cards for almost a year now but I was always using the black sd card because I had so much stuff on it I got the red one two months after I had the black one so I never took the time to copy everything over to it until yesterday. It took like 2 hours .

Has anybody had any luck getting something like a sandisk dual USB stick to work as external storage via the micro USB port?

update: stickmount from chainfire worked!

Some have had success with es file explorer, root explorer, & nexus media importer. May need to format the drive though
Corsair Flash Voyager GO
I have that sandisk posted in the 2nd post. I like that but it cannot be put on a keychain properly so you tend to lose the USB. I just purchased the Corsair Flash from Amazon. It comes with a ring to put on your keychain and the biggest thing it has USB 3.0. Plus its sleek and less bulky.

Meenova FTW
BOOM!
I have a meenova first gen, the sanfidk in 64 GB, and the Kingston with the flip cover in 32 GB. Just ordered the corsair in 64 GB, lol. I had lost the Kingston, and I will use the sandisk with my n7.

I like this option best, small format factor, and you can reuse your existing microSD card up to 128 Gigs
But can you confirm that this supports the Nexus 6?
I can confirm it works on the nexus 6 mounting with stickmount.

I have the Meenova 1st Gen...just feel like too many parts and slow transfer rates....still like my Corsair but Meenova is definitely one of the best and more cost effective
This is sort of off topic, but I just took switched my case from a Spigen Neo-hybrid to a Rinke slim, and now my sandisk works with the case on. :highfive:

I got the sandisk cause it was dirt cheap <$20 it is kinda clunky...thanks!
FYI I also found the power draw on these is high...even with a 1amp qi charging pad can not charge the battery when USB stick is attached...it minimizes the drain but will not charge until the stick is removed. YMMV
Hey Guys I just you to start off by saying I Picked up a 32gb unlocked sg6e off of my local craigslist for a decent deal. I am running into a dilemma though. My current 6 plus is 128 gb, I used about 30gb so far on my 6 plus but that is with about 13gb worth of pics and 10gb of music.
I can trim down on the music and the pics but what I am curious about is will the sg6e lack in performance due to begin close to capacity.?
Also how can I take advantage of the octocore processor? What are some major advantages the sg 6 e has?
Ultimately I am bored with the iPhone imessage and the storage is what is keeping me there..... I wish I had a 64gb edge or ideally a 128 and i would just say eff it.....
Please share your opinions ! thanks !
First off, Welcome to Android You've made a wise decision.
As for your storage concerns, there's a few things you can do, but none of them are going to be as good as having the 128Gb of internal storage.
First I suggest that you install one drive and see if you get the free 100GB of storage that is coming with some of the Galaxy S6 + S6E. Then turn on the camera upload feature. This will upload all of the pictures you take to your cloud storage. I do this and about once a month I go through and delete all my videos and pictures from my phone (apart from the ones that I want to have quickly handy). The rest of your pictures and videos will still be available to you as long as you have an internet connection... Like I said, not ideal but it works well. I don't have to venture to my drive very often unless I'm looking for an old pic to print or send.
As for the performance issues, I don't think you will see that many issues here. The biggest problem you will run into is when you want to install an app or update and you are at your limit. Then you will have to do some memory shuffling to move forward which is always annoying.
The octacore processor is kind of like two quad core processors. So each quad core processor handles different tasks. (i.e. one will handle small stuff like messages and background and the other will run your videos, streaming, games etc..) Samsung did a good job at balancing the workload for the processors, it makes switching between your apps a breeze and really eliminates any kind of sluggishness. I have had mine for about 3 weeks and it is still as snappy and awesome as day 1!
Anyways, hope this helps!
B
You will have issues with the battery though, coming from the 6 plus
USB OTG
This would be a good solution to your problem.
It is a very small USB OTG adaptor (the front half from the photo) in which you can plug your USB stick (the second half).
You can get a flash drive OTG (On The Go), but I prefer the adaptor, because I can plug in it every flash drive I have in my pocket.
I suppose it sucks power but hey, you can charge now your SGS 6E in half an hour

Here is a video with a decent look at the graphite. If you notice at about 2:30, he clicks on storage and it shows that there is 25.01GB of usable space.

Sorry if this is old news.
which means the OS is about 4.79 GB in size, so 54.8GB for 64GB model, 114.4GB for 128GB model
I believe they mentioned about 50 for the 64 version

nah... they thought since 64 is double of 32, everything must be doubled. they've also miscalculated for OS partition being doubled. pretty sure 64gb variants have more than 50gb available storage.
if you wipe out the whole phone you can have your 32gb
youll just have a brick though
Seems normal...not to worry.
I'm debating whether I should go for the 32gb flavor now rather than wait for 64gb to come back in stock. I'm hoping to have the device before Thanksgiving as I return stateside by then. Given the shipping timeframes I'd be cutting it close if I waited any longer for the 64gb flavor.
I guess I could also go the route of the USB-C flash drive but suspect having to carry that sucker around would be cumbersome...

You might be screwed either way if you didn't order anything before now. I ordered mine on 10/10 and look.
