How to add your voicemail password to your voicemail contact - Motorola Droid X2

I came across a way to add your voicemail password to the contact since the normal way is locked.
Go to the dialpad and type ##7764726
Press send
Click on SMS/MMS Settings
Go to Voicemail number
Add in a couple of pauses, your password and a # sign.
That's it.
Now heres the drawback, in your recent call list it will show the password. There is no way to stop that.

The normal way thru your call settings menu works just fine.

Ok thanks for the tip though. I never knew the dial pad string for some of those settings. Every piece of info contributes to the whole.

Android with bad esn turned into a house phone with apps?

I Am wondering if it is possible to turn and android phone with a bad esn into my house phone by using my wifi and a free voip app on the phone. What app would you recommend?

Theres an app my friend uses on his Xoom. I can't remember what it is off of the top of my head and his tablet is locked. I know you have to pay for calls after a certain point.

I have herd you can use sipdriod and I think Google voice and make it work. You will actually have a number for the phone for free over wifi.

Its called TextPlus. You get a number with it too.

Can you call for free over wifi?

It's called Groove IP. It works with your Google voice number. Get a free Google number and install groove Ip, sign on with your Google account and you're in business.

Your first 15 minutes is free but you have to pay after that. Idk what the rate is.

You guys gotta try groove Ip, it really works and it's 100% free over WiFi

Sweet! I'll check it out thanks!

Tried groove IP. Its ok but sipdrioid is free and seems to do the same thing. I have Google voice and sipdroid and can make phone calls out with my Google number. But still wonder if it will work on a known activated phone because it seems to need the android phone number to link it to Google voice. Any thoughts.

It didn't ask me for my number, utter should only ask for your Google account info. Is Google asking for your number or groove Ip.?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
This is all it asks for...... I can send it to you but I don't know how to do it here
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Yeah the number is created by Google voice and all you do is link groove IP or sipdroid to Google voice.
Can't get Google voice to link to my phone. When I call the Google voice number it rings my house phone not my cell.

Go on Google.com/voice from your computer and change the settings. IT HAS TO BE DONE FROM YOUR PC

Thanks that is what o needed to do. Go on the PC.

Voice Mail Notification

Is anyone else having issues with not getting notified of a voice mail after the official ics update? My phone shows missed calls just fine but the only way I know I have a voice mail is if I check it.

Nobody else has this issue or an idea on what might cause it or how to fix it?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Well, seeing as I couldnt get this issue fixed I solved it by subscribing to visual voice mail and I now get the notification.

Alternative Phone.apk

Hello All,
For some time now I have been bothered by the dimness of my screen when receiving a call. Does anyone know how to either increase the brightness of the call screen and/or know of a good (phone.apk) replacement?
I've tried a few from the market, but they don't play well over top of the native phone.apk.
Thanks!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
I use tasker. Paid app but awesome. I have a profile when I am ecieving an incoming call it goes to full brightness.

Thanks for the idea! Found this one for free! Seems to do the trick.

Does Verizon have visual voicemail like sprint? If so how can i get it to work? I'm so sick of calling and putting in my password for every missed call.

Google Voice for sure, you can also set it up so it is incorporated into your Phone or Dialer app. Plus email and/or text messages of the transcription it's great.

Having issues getting it setup. Now I have a notification saying two unheard messages but *86 no longer works and when I call the Google voice number it says no messages. Guess I'll hafta look for some sort of Google voice instructions or guide or something.
