Hey guys,
since a few weeks i'm experiencing problems regarding my sdcard.
My sdcard keeps getting corrupted or loses my data such as my pictures(most of the time they disappear...).
I'm currently using the Doxians v9 which is ported by D4.
When it crashes my phone says that the sdcard is damaged so I have to insert it and run a chdsk on it to make it readable again. After that som pictures/apps/data is gone, probably cause they were corrupted or dissappeared from the fat32 registry... After that the card still works like a charm.
I also did some stress tests on the card through my pc, but no problems at all...
For example this morning everything was fine but I had an exam and I had to shutdown my cellphone... After the exam I booted my phone again and suddenly the sd card was corrupted for no reason...
Is there anyone who's experiencing this problem too, cause I don't know what the problem could be...
Thanks in advance!
Greetz YcKe
have experienced this on mine too but i bought a pretty inexpensive SD card... are you facing the same problem on all ROM's??
I had the problem with other roms too.. But this rom is the worst...
Even when I reboot my cellphone there is a chance that it gets corrupted... Like yesterday I just did a regular reboot and lost all my applicaitons on the sd card... Thats not too bad but it worse when I lose my pictures...
Could it have something to do with the sdCache? Maybe to high/low?
Greetz YcKe
...have experienced this on mine too on MiniCM6... SD cache 6M
Now test low cache.
I checked mine, it's 128 kb atm.. It's the default value for android...
I hope that might not be the problem...
Im grad I'm not the only one experiencing these problems...
Greetz YcKe
Anyone else?
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Mine is a 8Gb Class 4 and it crashes a lot.
It crashes with stock ROM and all other Roms.
Thx
Try to take just a pencil with graphite core and strong anoint (paint) them electrical contact to your card.
This protects against oxidation electrical contact and give the best contact in the connector.
Also, do not increase SDCard cache larger than 1 Mb, because in case of sudden reboot the phone may function properly.
Sorry for my bad english...
Could you guys do me a favor and post these things:
Sd card size +class + manufacturer
Android version + mod
Applications installed
This way we can compare and find the trouble maker

TitaniumBackup, Camera360, Opera, Facebook, GoSms
usually you can restore the issues by copying files to a backup folder on your pc
then format (fat32 don't use the quick option this once and instead let it do a feal format). then copy files back and you should be back to normal.
I once had a similar problem. The files on my sd card were randomly corrupting. When I took a photo, and then tried to view it, I couldn't. I also wasn't able to open some files from my pc, but the same files could be opened from the phone. The problem was the sd card i have bought, which was a cheap kingston imitation, so i bought a new one from a retail store and that did it.
Bro if you had linux system on your pc you could check it out by using gparted or something like that.
my dad's P1i 4gb m2 card had the same problem. when taking photos some pics appear half, quarter or nothing but green lines on the photo. changed the card and it worked perfectly. and sometimes it doesnt recognize the card too.
so it is something regarding the card that you are using. better get a genuine card (transcend or kingston etc) and enjoy the lot.
regards

Thanks for the replies guys, but the weird thing for me is that it only happens when using the phone.
I tried some stress tests(write/read) and no problems occured.
Only when taking for example a picture, or putting stuff on my phone like apk's make the sdcard corrupt. I'm now running from a clean install.. No problems so far, I'll keep you guys updated!
Suggestions are still welcome!
Thank you guys

In case you're wondering what brands are known to work good in 3125 - I have a SanDisk 2GB in mine that works fine...
Just bought a couple more the other day from a vendor on Amazon.com - 2GB seem to be pretty cheap now. I went for the SanDisk packages that include a SD and mini-SD adapter with each micro-SD card - hardly any more expensive than getting just the micro by itself (and keeps your options open in the future)...

Hi sofenee ,i face the same thing like u ,
do u solve that ?
any ideas ?
i face that with 1 gb and 2 gb and 256 micro Sd cards . i donot know what is the problem ..
please help us guys ..
I had issues in the past where the contact between the phone and card seemed to be a bit flaky. I have since put a small folded piece of paper (just a couple of layers thick) between the SIM card and the SD card to push it down in order to get a better connection. I have not had any problems since.
Hi Mag ,
Thank you So much for your useful post ,
ur solution is the Best , and it is a successful way to resolve that issue ,
i had created a topic here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420140

anyway , i will return my device back to the company , it is still under warrenty ;p

I have had that happen before, I think the SD card driver is crashing, once you reboot the phone it seems to work fine. This happened on an official cingular ROM. Never had a problem with Erofichs' ROMS

Just try adding a layer of tape (I used regular, transparent scotch tape) on top of the microSD card and trim it
Resolved the issue for me
I'll tell you a strange issue (additional to the already mentioned on other posts) of the micro SD, I found and tested it today, and i have not resolved it yet.
ISSUE:
without notice, the phone is switched on etc, shows the notification "SD Removed, Please enter a new one", I thought it was strange since I had changed the micro with another, a san disk 16gb HC, nothing of strange.
i restart the phone, but the notification does not go away. i begin to be worried, 'cause it usually disappears.
I remove the backpanel, the secure of microsd and take it off.
So far nothing abnormal belief, and reinsert it.
The phone still does not see the new microsd.
i was in street so didn't proceed with further testing and i messd up for a while. arrived home i tried with 3 other microsd, the default supplied by LG, with still the old data within, and no one of them were detected
NEW two maxell 2gb microSD, HC always, are not detected.
I thought it was a pin problem, but keeping the vertical microsd clearly known that the pins are aligned correctly
(1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1).
restarting the phone with and without early MicroSim they are not recognized.
The PC and other phones are working properly.
I also made a restore procedure from privacy-settings, but still no sign of life.
any suggestion?

mine problem as i told is not an unmount problem but the absolute not detection mode, i tried the cards on another phone, all of them works.
by the way today i pick up the battery, and i looked for the little white warranty sticker, and it is a f****' pale pink!
the phone had no contact with water or everything like that, so it's impossible that i burned my warranty in this f****' way!
by the way i think is an hware problem, and i think is caused from some components on the little board on the upper side of the phone where are the antenna, speakers, vibrator engine, and the sd slot.
I had similar problem, my LG came up with error message that the micro sd card was damaged, i tried 3 different card and always had the same message.
I took my 16Gb sandisk card out of the phone and to a card reader.
The card worked perfectly on my PC so i started to take a backup of the card and then run some problem diagnostic tool and thank god, it finished and promped that some errors where fixed.
Since than it has worked perfectly in my optimus one...

let me understand better, u ran the diagnostic tools on for the SD card or for the lg optimus one?, and if the second, can u post, send pm, with the link of them? Many many anyways for the answer =)
I simply ran the diagnostic tools on the sd card conected to my pc via usb card reader in win7. I was about to give up on this when i decided to try this, tough i didn't think it would actually work. but it did.....
someone at LG should look into this, my friend experienced exacly the same problem with optimus GT540. it was after installing some custom rom in his case, but i still have the original firmware, i haven't done any hacks but rooting, wich i don't belive could cause this problem...
oh, and i hope i am making my self clear, my english is not perfect since it's not my first language..
I do confirm.
This happened on my new phone.
Without any reason.
I recently bought a 16g class 4 microsd card and I'm experiencing some issues.. It seems that whenever I copy something over, that's the last thing I can copy.. Say I copy everything I backed up on my sd card that I want on the new one, then try to copy over music onto it, windows will show its copied over, but when I put it into the phone it's as if nothing was copied other than the first batch.. I know I'm doing a very poor job explaining this, but it's a very strange issue I'm having. I have done a full fat32 format, quick format, format from the phone, and a few combinations of each. Any help would be very appreciated.
i kinda have almost the same problems with you, and after another trial and error effort can come into some conclusion that the problems is with micro sdcard quality.. (mine was cheap not well-know brand memory).
so, i never bought that cheap memory again and swap it with another known brand.. an voila! the problems is gone
sorry if that's not very helpful bro, just sharing my own experience.
Hello all,
I've bought 8GB SD card and used it on my mini pro, I faced some issues like:
1. Alot of programs suddenly crash
2. Wireless connection gets dissconeccted automaticlly
3. The whole Android software get crashed and the screen goes into black, then this can't be solved if I didn't remove battary and reinsert it.
I Tried to check the SD card for bad sectors and problems but there were nothing.
Any Solution?
NOTE: I have another SD card (2GB) and it dosen't make any problem when in use.
If you remove the card the problems persist?

This doesn't make sense.
SDcard has nothing, that could affect wireless connections at all.
SDcard has nothing, that could affect whole Android firmware. Neither should it make apps crash.
What manufacturer's SDcard did you buy?

It happen to once with my cheap 4gb card when i paired with nokia n82.. Till now i don't know why the phone keep refusing to recognize the card. The irony is, the "rejected card" works normally on my current phone "sk17". it left me scratching my head.
If you can return it, return it. If its not worth it, just get a new one. Basically, you have done everything on you end, so its definitely the card's fault.

Check for SD card class, its written on SD card.If its less than Class 6 then you should buy SD card with class 6 or higher.
Second you should not place large files like multiple blueray pictures or multiple songs in single folder. And last you can speed up SD Card read, write speed by using SD booster of Root tool box pro app to make your SD card faster.
I thing class is not so important. I now using few year old 16 gb card class 2 without any problem

Weird but I have no reason not to believe you.At least you know that the problem is the card,so either return it and get a new one or buy a 16Gb instead. They re already pretty cheap! Opt for a class 6+!

Why should I avoid putting multiple songs in one folder? I have put like that and my sd works fine eh??
and the other thing if you had apps in the other sd which was 2gb and u put the 8gb one without transferring them to the 8gb card the apps should not work. Android system failure sould be a problem of memory management. Check whether you had filled ur card.
and yea I think the best solution for u if u have tried every thing, return the card
Hey all,
I thought I would share my findings to help others with the same issue.
Two days ago I kept catching glimpses of a card image in the notifications at the top of the screen, but it would only be for a second so I could not see what it was trying to tell me. But had a quick look and sd card seemed fine and all data was present on handset. A couple of hours later it popped up with "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed". I tried ejecting and reinserting, restarting device and turning off and removing battery all to no avail. So I did a quick search which showed this seemed to be quite a common issue, after reading many threads with people saying the sd card is corrupt or network providers saying it was software and to do a restore. I decided before all that hassle I would open the phone and check the circuitboard expecting it to be a dry solder joint. One thing I will point out that was different to some other users is the fact my sd card was not visible with the phone connected to the computer, so this may not solve all related issues.
THE FIX
Turn off phone, remove the battery, SIM card and sd card. Remove all screws except the one by the 3.5mm jack. Gently pull the white plastic trim that surrounds the card holders and battery but the top part with speaker and camera does not need removing. Once removed if you look to the left of the sd card holder you will see the ribbon that connects the sd card to the main circuit board and at the end of the ribbon is the connector. Mine was disconnected and was loose, even if yours is not loose it would be worth gently pulling it off and reconnecting it. Then reassemble in the reverse order.
This was a nice surprise in the sense it was a very simple fix. However when I mounted the sd card even directly in my pc it was not found, I assume that the loose connector floating about had probably shorted its connections and caused an issue with the sd card. After a handfuls of attempts at mounting it in my pc it was finally detected and I backed up all the data and reformatted the sd card, then copied the data back, mounted it in my phone and was happy to find it all working as expected.
I hope this information will help some of you out, as it was a simple fix to a simple issue and results from searching had no solutions, just lots of assumptions.
And what can I do
Hi
I read your articles and seem very good but u have a question.
I had the same issue and I saw that every time my phone said I hat message it creates in my sd card a folder named lost. I and then i saw that one part of my battery was going there, ti reconnect the phone with my sd card
I formatted my sd card and did all the things that I found in the Internetbut nnothing works and I just change my sd for another one I had and sincethere u ddon't have any other issue, but my computer detects very good my first sd card and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Any idea?
Regards
Recently ive just faced this issue, what I did is to insert my 32gb sd card in my PC and run CHKDISK, havent got any error while performing this, thereafter i inserted it in my phone & goodness till now this sd card error hasn't appear yet. (finger crossed).
Mine did something like this a few times and then the 32GB Sandisk class 10 card died. Couldn't get it to work in any device except Linux based Media player. Luckily managed to copy my nadroid backup and TB backup. Sent to Sandisk and they replaced it. There is already a thread about S3 damaging teh SD cards. May be the loose connection is what's causing the card to to end up dead.

Yeah,as mentioned I have seen a lot of issues about sd cards, this is the first issue I have had and thought it would be worth mentioning. There is little space when the case is together so it could easily still make contact and seem fine even if the connector has worked loose and cause all kinds of issues. As mentioned mine had the sd icon popping up every now and then before it actually failed. Some users seem to be going through a lot of sd cards with them failing on a regular bassis.
I've been using my 32gb card since my last phone which was the LG Optimus 3D it is a scandisk class 10 one. Anyway i took it out of the 3D and stuck it into my S3 i still have not had a problem. I did take it out a few times to put a rom in because i wiped my phone and didn't have a rom in the Sd card. Also i dropped my phone and replaced the whole front silver bumper bit the whole digitizer because i dropped my phone while playing basketball. It still works. It has been a year now it has been in two phones and still works great. I must be lucky..
I got mugged for the SD though i bought it last year for £60 from Argos a store in the UK. Now you can get them for half the price oh well.. I am waiting for the 128gb ones to come out so going to buy one lol..
today also my Sandisk Ultra HC I 32GB it's died, tomorrow I'll test with pc but no sign of life :crying: WTF samsung !!!
hey i have the same issue with an 32gb sd card, it was workking great and then i was getting the error about
"SD Card Unexpectedly Removed" and then i tried everything i could and my computer detect the sd card and it seems to be working normal but in my phone i have the error over and over again and it was draining my battery too, and the only thing i did was change to another 16gb sd card and this one is working.
maybe there is a problem with the 32gb sd cards
I have a 16GB Sandisk UHS-1 card and i have been getting this issue as well, and its becoming more and more frequent. Whenver it happens, the ringtones/notifications for certain apps like Gmail and Message get reset as the ringtones i set were stored in the sdcard. Also the photo frame app i have on my homescreen often resets to nothing as the pictures were also stored in the sdcard. Its really annoying because I can leave my phone sleeping, only to wake it up realizing my ringtones are all set to silent and my photo frame has been reset. At least i know its a common problem. damn you samsung!
Has anyone actually tried checking the connection on the ribbon as suggested? Mine has been fine since and works fine.

There is no way anyone would know you have opened it, the screws are all Philips instead of t6. As long as you use the correct screwdriver it won't damage the heads and will leave no sign of entery and it takes around 10 mins to complete. Or you could take it to Samsung to do but seems a lot of hassle for such a simple fix.
Also most people are rooted without concern of the warranty.
So there's no seals or stickers that are broken?

Nope, no sticker or seals and just so you know all screws to remove the back are identical, there are only two screws inside which are different but do not need removing for this. You only need a Philips screwdriver ( I used a ph00 x 40) as long as the screwdriver fits the screw well it will not damage the head. Once screws are out a flat head screwdriver or similar are helpfull to prise the back off.
Hi Guys,
A little feedback from my experience with this.
I too was experiencing the "Unexpectedly Removed" error on my 32GB Class10 Sandisk.
It was playing havok with my setup because I use a 8GB Ext4 Partition on the card, where I move 90% of my apps. (About 6GB of that is used by games + their "external" data), and it keeps my phone and FAT32 partition free for important stuff. (I use Link2SD and DirectoryBind)
The problem is, after the device wakes, Link2SD can't find any of the apps, so I can't start any of them, and I have to do a full reboot to get them back. :/
So, after searching and searching, I couldnt find a valid solution.
I tried with a 16GB class10 Samsung, and a 32GB Class10 Samsung card. Exact same setup. NO ISSUES.
Everything works perfectly.
Then I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933743&page=2
Where most of them are experiencing this error with Sandisk cards.
Apparently, it's a known issue with Sandisk Cards (especially the 32GB models), and cards sold after December 2012 no longer experience this.
I have contacted Amazon.co.uk about replacing the card as it's only 2 months old, still waiting for their answer. Will update if anyones interested.
cheers

A curious question if I may.
Was this a SanDisk Ultra (UHS) card? Most (if not all) Android phones do not have a proper UHS-I driver today and, although the card is supposed to switch down automatically, that transition time can fool the OS sometimes.

I read something about UHS compatibility, so I got an SD-HC
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007JTKLEK/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1357264092&sr=8-7&pi=SL75
Is it the same thing?
Hmmm. Ok, might be getting somewhere.
Any idea if these cards have an internal "power saving" system that maybe kicks in if voltage drops below a certain level?

Yes, the red and Grey SanDisk cards are UHS.
Yes, they definitely have controllers and the host device can command them (if it knows how). I know that they allow In System Programming (ISP) for updating firmware. They support auto-standby, power-off and sleep modes but am not certain if the card would switch without command. Check the SD link in my signature if you really need more info.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying... (via Tapatalk)
I tested my SanDisk 64GB Ultra card in a Note 2 and it had the same symptoms (Mine were worse, with the card locking up while playing music after a few minutes, causing mmc timeout errors in the kernel).
I switched to a Samsung 64GB Pro card and since then I haven't had any issue. It's also twice as fast.
The amount of headaches this SanDisk card gave me is insane, probably the last time I buy a card from them.
i have sandisk ultra class 10 32gb. try this setup. use minitool to reformat your card then set it the cluster size to 16kb.
for me so far so good. will test this in a couple of days.
