My Atrix 4G Charging issue - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So My atrix 4g is being odd. Run it completely dead a few ago and just got back home. well plugged it up. Its maybe been plugged up for 15min and its stating its already 50% in which I know is wrong. Earlier it was at 30% I cut it off for about 30min and when I cut it back on it (and this was without charging it or touching it) when it cut back on it said it was 70%.
Whats going on>?

well this has happen to me . for sure , idk if this may help but i rooted my phone , unlocked my bootloader , got to 2.3.4 then got the alien rom and the ferfix kernel . then i notice the batter was only going to 80% or 95% then ill turn off my screen then it will jump back to 10 or whatever . the way i fixed it was that battery fix in the post on the general thread . ill will put the link on here .

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174349 that is what helped me and im pretty sure it will fix you too .

oh dear oh dear this dosent look good!

ok so up to now the battery life on my phone has been pretty good and i have been impressed but it didnt last....
dont know if this is just a coincidence or not but since doing the 2 updates it seems worse
so anyways, today battery went flat in about 9 hours with very moderate usage. I went to put the phone on charge and noticed that it seemed to be getting quite hot...alarming hot!
I read a few post on here about it and it seems that generally its nothing to worry about ...however....when i went to unplug it after about an hours charging i noticed that the phone was off (it wasent completley flat when i plugged it in) and that the phone was just 'warm' while on charge.
It seems to me that the phone has overheated...got so hot that it turned itself off
My phone is a sim free version, completley standard apart from launcher pro installed and lockscreen widget installed....its not rooted. The phone was also not in a case.
Any ideas

Hello, i have had my G5 for almost a year now and when i first bought it on 2.1 the battery wasnt the best, but it would last a full day, but now ive updated to 2.2 ages ago and ive noticed how bad the battery has got- its dying in under an hour which is obviously a very big issue.
Also i left it on charge over night and when i woke up this morning and checked it, it was on 19% battery when i checked before i slept and it was on 90%- confused!
Also i have to play around with my charger alot for it to actually work- whilst my usb cable will work with no issues- has my charger been damaged or broke?
The phone keeps doing a random vibrate in a specific pattern- this happens quite reguarly and has done since i updated to 2.2- i have tried factory reseting but that hasnt done nothing, the pattern is similiar to vibrate, few seconds gap, vibrate vibrate, its very annoying.
When i flashed my phone to CM7 and MadTeams Better 2.2 i did not have the vibrating issue- i have flashed it back to stock now.
Also when i close an app or come out of a menu my home screen applications and widgets often disappear for about 15 seconds which is very frustrating.
My phone is on stock 2.2 Froyo- Rooted with Universal Androot.
Thank you very much!
Curtis.
Also sorry for posting plenty of threads here recently!

I had that charging problem on my old phone, it something wrong with your charger. try replace it or use a different one
with your battery problem, how heavily do you use your phone? Maybe because your charger is faulty, you go to charge it, but it doesnt charge properly. if my battery is at 1% and i put my charger in for 10 seconds, it will show 17% charged. this is obviously not charged that much, but could be what your battery is doing, so when it shows high battery level, its actually got a lower one.
Drain your battery
When on 1%, plug in your charger and leave it in until the 'Charged' notification appears in your notification bar. see if that changes battery length.
That sorted my old phone
It seems all you do Jordanooo is help me!
Ill give it a try tonight, and i use my phone just to text friends, phone calls, facebook/twitter and updating applications.
My phone has been charging since about 12pm, its now twenty to 2, and its on 13% charge- my signal is on 50% without- il try airplane trick.
Right i seriously need help now guys.
My battery is completely and utterly- f*cked.
It says it is charging but it doesnt charge- the number changes but it goes for 80% then drop to 70% etc so i can never get a full charge.
I thought i fixed it last night when i drained it and recharged it back to as high as i could get it (94%), unlocked it this morning and it went from 70% when i locked it last night to 50%- and thats not the worst part- i sent 3 texts and it went to 15% battery, yes, 15%.
I am appaled at it and its well and truly put me off buying another Android phone or Samsung phone.
I need help now, if you guys cant fix it for me, my warranty is over from Carphone Warehouse and i cant be arsed with it.
I cant afford to simply go and buy a new phone so please dont say that kind of dumb suggestion.
Thank you.

Well, even i had this problem w/my G5...... it seriously sux.
My phone also loses battery quite fast.... but not as fast as yours.
Switching it off and then plugging in the charger will keep the phone off while charging it. Few seconds after you plug it in, the screen will light up and and show a battery.
Leave it this way till it is completely charged.(Press the home button if the screen goes off).
Best of luck.
Thanks
It works as a short term fix, il charge like it like this until i get a new battery/repair my phone!

[Q] Phone randomly rebooting, now won't even turn on

So I have the Best Buy Black Tie Protection Plan for my Atrix and about 2 weeks ago I took my Atrix into Best Buy to have them fix a cracked screen, when I got it back it ran fine, then about 10 minutes after getting it I unlocked it and installed CM7 Weekly 4. I started getting random reboots and had to pull the battery occasionally. Then the phone would start to get really hot and the screen wouldn't turn on and the battery would drain overnight when I normally get at least a day off my battery. Yesterday my phone wouldn't even turn on and I found the only way to have it turn on is if I plug it into the charger though it doesn't charge and won't boot, it just freezes at the Motorola boot screen. I can't turn the phone on if the charger isn't connected and as soon I disconnect the charger the phone turns off.
I really love this phone but ever since I got it back from best buy it's been full of problems. Does anyone know what is wrong with my phone or any way to fix this? Also does best buy have a 30 day return policy for when they repair your phone or would having them fix my phone again use up my second and last repair? Thanks for your help, if there's anything information you need to know just ask.
From my understanding, I am guessing that you overheated your phone by flashing a highly overclocked kernel and you also got a soft brick in the process.
My advice to you would be to find another battery to see if you can get the phone to charge and switch on as I think that your battery fried.
Once the battery problem is sorted, you can easily fix the soft brick. There are some threads about it. If you can't find it, P.M. me and I will find the thread for you.
Don't worry, your phone is fixable.

I only use faux123's stock enhanced kernel so it's not that but I think you're right, the battery might be dying from the heat. When I get home I'm going to look up how to charge the battery just from the 3 connectors on the battery and see if that works before I buy another battery. I don't know if that'll fix the problem of the phone not turning on at all unless it's plugged in and then turning off as soon as the charger is disconnected but it's worth a try, I'll let you know.
Thanks for the help!
I actually had a similar situation a few weeks ago.
I had the following set up
-Weekly #3 (CM7)
-Faux's 0.2.1 1.0ghz
-.1.77.30P Radio
I unplugged the phone from charging it (as I do every night) and it went into a bootloop. I honestly hadn't flashed anything new in a week.
I went into recovery and factory reset the device to fix it.
I still don't know what caused this to happen.
My device still overheats quite a bit (gets to ~50 degrees C on the CPU for doing regular things like web browsing). I don't know why it does this.

phone not charging

i bought my note 2 when it 1st came out and rooted it with adams way along with the unlock boot loader way ( verizon) and everything went good up intill now i have flashed every rom that has came out (cwn) and bout 3 days ago i went from a 4.2.2 rom back to a 4,1,1 rom jedi to beans and i used the restore after downgrade zip witch ive used b4 after bout a day i tried to charge my phone on beans with the pj karnel and it would not charge so i did a dirty flash of beans this time with beans stock kernal and sitll no charge so i tiried again with a clean installle and still the same thing so i tiried with a complete wipe and formate system and stock kernal and still a no go so i oden back to stock and still the same prob only now all i can do is boot into download mode and so i went to buddies house and switched batteries and he could charge my battier and i could not charge his, ok so i have a bad charging port ill get a new phone so i go to verzion and expliane my prob and they offer to replace my phone because its a hardware prob i say but its gonna take a day to get me. so im back to stock b4 the update and deciede to mess with my phone a lil more wipeing thru stock recovery and trying to get my phone to start up and charge and nothing so i decied to take the update and see what happens after i take the update nothing same prob so i reboot and wipe everything i can thru stock recovery and try againg and same out come so i said f it its a bad port ill call my buddie and see if i can use his battery while i wait for my phone to come and about an hr later on the charger my starts to charge i'm like wtf its charging so i let it fully charge and now its good as far as i know not rooted but im on the newest kernal and raido but not andriod verision and it seems to be working but should i take the like new phone they are sending me or kept mine and try to root it again lol

there is some wierd charging issues with some of these devices. most of the time my device will charge in 2.5-3hrs. occasionally it will not charge right. one thing i noticed is if the device is plugged into the charger and the red light does not come on, it will not charge correctly. sometimes it seems a email notification will cause the red light to diasapear and it quits charging normally as well. Now if I unplug and the device turn screen off and plug back in it will charge normally. What I cant decide if its a faulty wall charger or a hardware issue?? Whatever it is definately is intermittent!!
I have heard faulty cables causing this, (aftermarket) giving problems with charging and odin................... periods to share......lmao

Battery life problem, charging problem, new battery problem..

Well guys Im going to be as quick as I can.. as the title says..I got all those problems
How everything started.. Well one day as usual I went to sleep and connected my phone to the charger.. As I woke up I realised my screen phone was on which was weird cause the first I thought was some freak called me .. well I was wrong.. my cellphone was "plugging-unplugging" to the charger.. And the battery life was at 75%~.. Okay I said damn Ima fix this as I come home today.. all day went thru, MY CELLPHONE EARLY DIED (Battery got 0% in less than 4hrs) And well the first thing I thought was buying a new battery.. sadly in my country is hard to get something "Original" if that can be called.. so I bought a OEM one.. well I put it on the phone.. went to my home and when I get to charge the phone.. IT SHUT DOWN WHEN YOU PLUG IT WITH THE OEM BATTERY well I was really concern about that.. So I said hey lets give a try shutting it down and connecting it while it's off.. WELL something weird happens too.. It shows the icon of the battery trying to load the status (The circle) but it shows up- dissapear-shows up- dissapear all the time.. Well.. I guess my luck was too bad.. During the week I was dealing with those charging problems like really much all the night thinking about the phone, checking if it was connected, doing everything as possible to get 100% thru unplugs and not charging.. Well I decided to send it to a Technical Service.. BUT I didnt told him to check the phone(I was running low on money) just told him to change the USB PORT.. well everything seemed fine when he delivered it to me.. as I came home and plug the phone, everything runs cool.. TILL it gets 90%.. It just disconnected by itself, didn't charge anymore.. connected it again and did some charge to 93% DISCONNECTED AGAIN, and then when I plugged in the charger it didn't make the sound of charging.. I had to play with the "Hole" trying to make it charge..Now it isnt even moving on from 93% and it doesnt fully charge.. I MUST ADD I was running on 2.3 Gingerbread when I got my phone, after 2 months I updated it to 4.0.3 ICS And THIS WAS WHEN THE PROBLEM APPEAR.. And I thought it could be a Software problem so I updated it to 4.1.2 JB from Shostock3 and well.. Here I am with a new battery not charging, my battery dying so quick and a lot of money wasted.. Thanks in advance for some help (MY LAST IDEA IS Downgrading the Software. But u guys could give me some ideas) TY!
So don't mess with the software just yet ...
So when you say play with the "hole" does it mean the phone's connections port is damaged? because if it is damaged and it cannot hook up firmly then all bets are off.
But if that is not the case, I would try a different charger.
Try hooking up your phone to your computer, and see if your computer's USB will fully charge the phone. Just leave it and see what happens. If it did, then you got a bad charger, and need to get a new charger.
If I'm not mistaking those chargers have 5 volt ~0.7-1.0Amp output requirements so read about them and be mindful of the output requirements.
Good luck,
