Hello my dear friends,
I need an information about the EVO 3D in the US. In France it's rare and expensive, and I have a friend who's travelling to NYC in a few days so I needed to know how much it would cost if I asked her to bring me a brand new EVO 3D without contract and GSM of course! I would work in France right?
In a nutshell I need the price and if there actually a GSM version in the US!
Thank you all in advance!

That would be really nice of you!
You can always try Ebay
The proble is the taxes from the customs...
Does GSM necessarily mean 1GB of internal memory?
Only Canada has the GSM version in North America, it runs $99 on a 3-year contract with Rogers, and I believe $550 as an outright buy. I bought one yesterday through a Rogers partner (Tbaytel). That version is HSPA 850/1900/2100
In the USA, only Sprint carries the Evo, on their CDMA network.
There are likely places in the US where you can buy it from, but it probably won't come with a warranty.
Okay understood! So if I find someone going to Canada, I'll have to tell him to go at Rogers? And ask for a phone without contract? Right? 550 US dollars?
Thank you a lot for helping
Am I right?

It is till not launched, right?
When it will be available for purchase?
Also i am wondering if i can use this phone in Bulgaria? Because here we dont have 4G and the 3G networks are not so good.
We just have SIM cards(2G network or GSM network, i am not sure, GSM 900/1800)
Can i use this phone with GSM network?
Also where i can buy one?
I know that if i buy it with sprint contract it would be really cheaper, so if somebody want to buy it for me, i can pay him more money(but still not the same price like if i buy it without contract ). Just if somebody is interested, let me know
Здравейте брат!
The EVO 3d is set to launch on June 24th.
CDMA phones won't work in Bulgaria. They are selling a GSM version of the 3D.
I don't know when the gsm version will be released.
Good luck!

So this phone will not work with our carriers here?
I am asking because i cant find enough reviews in internet about that.
Do you think that GSM version will be released soon?
I just googled a release date for the gsm version. Doesn't seem like there is an official date but it may be a month or two behind the sprint version

Not sure how that would work, phone w/o contract is $470 here.
Phone with contract is $200 here, but you are locked in for ~$70 a month for 2 year.
If you break contract, you need to wait at least 31 days, so you end up paying the $200 ETF and a month for the plan, not counting activation fee of $35 and taxes on everything.
So it ends up being more expensive than buying it outright.
yeah, but if you(for example) want to have contract with sprint or to extend your contract, why not to buy the phone and to get 1-2 months free(because i will pay you 300-350 for example) ?
I am really sad that the first version cant be used with GSM network here in Bulgaria, but i will wait to buy working version(if they create it)

It's out in some markets. I picked mine up through Rogers here in Canada yesterday (apparently it went on sale here on Friday).
I don't think any GSM carriers in the US have officially announced plans to pick up the EVO 3D GSM yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T does at some point.

Yes it did.
I should mention that mine was the first the store staff had seen out of the box, and it was one of the few stores here in Ottawa with stock (and they only had 5). So initial roll-out may be a bit slow.
yep i got mine on 4th of august in the mail
but mine is from where i live Holland
got 2 days before official launch XD
It's for sale in Denmark as well.
Got a mail from the HTC Club saying it was for sale soon. Clicked the link to one of the stores mentioned (Elgiganten) and lo and behold +100 in stock.
Called the girlfriend and 1 hour later we got some nice upgrades from the Desire.
Nice!
I so whant this device... But i don't have money. I'm asking for a friend

dont know about the price but unlocking is free from the android market.
Just got back to the states from Hyderabad. Off contract expect to pay 650$ or about 32500 rupees. You can get one used for around 400$ to 450$. You can unlock the phone yourself and the phone works fine with vodaphone.

I would strongly recommend the I9100 in India - you will get warranty support for it, won't have to bother with unlocking, and you won't have to deal with carrier-mangling of firmware. Carrier-mangling has largely been neutralized for Gingerbread, but ICS is completely unknown.
He has a good point. The off contract price for the US version is about the same for the international version in India anyhow. Any particular reason you are looking for the AT&T version?

Thanks for reply guys. but on at&t site price is 150$ with contract.!!!! so after buying tht cell i can unlock it. is it ok or i shd buy from india ?
The 2 year on contract price will require a credit check and a US address for billing.

But what if i buy from us citizen & then unlock the same in india. ?
I do brokerage for US customs for imports.....I know the phone would require an FCC form. I'm not sure if India customs would require it because I don't do exports but its possible. Just a thought

The device is $550 without contract for a US-only warranty - no sane person is going to waste their contract subsidy (which comes along only once every 18-24 months) on giving you their $400 discount.
hey Terrold thanks for reply man. help me out man. please do some inquiry for me. as i am newbie for all this stuff. & if its possible to get the cell with contract & then unlock it & use d same in india. then explain how one can do tht. any help would be appreciated.

It's possible, but then you will be committed to paying for AT&T service which you won't be using.
That's the idea of the contract discount - AT&T gives you a $400 discount on the device, in exchange for being guaranteed that you will pay for their voice AND data service for two years.
This will cost you FAR more than paying full off-contract price. As an example, my total service bills come to $70/month or so after taxes - that is INCLUDING a pre-tax 25% discount on service I get through my employer.

It is cheaper to get an unlocked version. 2year contracts are expensive, that's why at&t can afford to sell it at discounted price.

get the gt-i9100.. you'll get updates quicker, and won't have to worry about all that shipping stuff. plus it won't be loaded with at&t's s*itware
Tons & tons thanks guys.
So basically you want someone in the US to get the phone on contract, and sell you the phone for $150, while they continue to pay the bill? Seems legit...

I don't think he understood that this is what would have to happen for him to get the device for $150.
Ok dud. My brother brought me a SGH-i777 just a week bfor..I stay in B'lore. Listen. There are 3 ways to buy it.
1st: With 2 years contract for approx $150 which I suggest you not to go with.
2nd:With NO CONTRACT(The phone will still be locked to AT&T) for approx $490...which my brother went for and is best way to go with.
3rd: Is to buy an unlocked SGH-i777 on Amazon or any other website which can be trusted..This too is an good option.
I chose 2nd option and hav unlocked it free by rooting it with Odin 1.85(App which is used for rooting) and by downloading Galaxy S Unlock app by Helroz which is available on Android Market for free..and u can root+unlock it perfectly within 10 mins..yes 10 mins or even less. Its damn easy procedure and you will get the rooting+unlocking guide. MAKE SURE YOU READ IT CORRECTLY. Here's the link:

Now I have provided you with every bit of info you needed. TC
You could get the att contract and then just freeze your account. You'll only be paying about 10 dollars a month. I do it when I go overseas for extended periods of time, since I work for a cruise line.

I live in Brazil, and a relative of mine is going to the US and I'm eager to get this phone.
I wonder if i can get it off Contract and Unlocked, or just simply off contract since i believe Unlocking it won't take long.
And i'm wondering if it will go for U$500 or close to it.

they should, i have bought many a phone from them in store and just told the sales rep to leave it boxed i will activate it at home. did have one try to tell me that they had to activate it before it could leave the store, so i just told them it was a gift. (which that one actually was)
Yes , looks like it is GSM unlocked , but dont forget those phones were all pre release models & the actual ones that come out on 21st may not have GSM Unlocked. I hope it is unlocked though
Only time will tell !
