[Q] S5830XWKPN full package file - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Can anyone help me where can I download S5830XWKPN full package file?
On samfirmware site they only provide one-package file.
Thanks alot!

that one package already include every files needed to fully flash your ace.
if you/re not sure, open that one package tar file using winrar, or 7zip. if you see 9 files total, then you're good

I already did that, but I noticed those files are different compare to usual full package file like in KPH.

those are the individual file.
if you extract all 4 full package files using winrar, you'll get the same 9 individual files

I'm confused. for full package, extension file names are ".md5".
But on a one package file some files don't have extension name.
What could be wrong?

those full package are also tar archieve. the same 9 files archieved seperately.
lol, you ectract onepackage, pack into 4 seperate archive and vise-versa
it doesn't matter as long as you have all 9 files needed. ODIN will extract all files and flash individual files.
for those who flash onepackage and failed, mostly due to incomplete onepackage.

You sure it'll work all right? You won't be able to flash the KPN 1 package from say 2.2 right?

as long as you use a full one package file. it's work.
all you need is this files :
amss
arm11boot
boot.img
data.rfs (optional)
csc.rfs
mibib
oemsbl
qcsbl
recovery.img
system.rfs
either you get it from a single archive (onepackage), or 4 archieves (seperated into appboot, code, csc and modem). it doesn't matter.
whatever you give ODIN, it will unpack the archieve to get all those files before actually flashing it into the device.
if you get 4 archieve version -like i said, you can actually extract a full onepackage, and pack it again into 4 archieve-
APBOOT tar.md5 should include :
arm11boot
mibib
oemsbl
qcsbl
CODE tar.md5 should include :
boot.img
data.rfs (optional)
recovery.img
system.rfs
CSC tar.md5 should include :
csc.rfs
MODEM tar.md5 should include :
amss
and yea, i did flash my stock froyo (2.2.1 DXKC1) directly into XWKPN.

Hello setya5785. nice explanation!
Just a few questions.
1. Some other mods here said that you can't directly flash stock froyo (2.2.1 DXKC1) to KPN using one package file. they said, you must flash with any 2.3.3 with full package before flash KPN with one package file. is this true??
2. What do you recommend more, flash KPN with one package file? or extract files first and archive them with tar.md5 then flash??
Hope to here from you, thanks!

1. it depends. if you can get a complete onepackage, it'll be safe. i flash from DXKC1 directly to XWKPN using onepackage file that include all files (well minus data.rfs, but not that it matter, as long as you wipe before flashing).
so basicly, check your file or where you get your file from.
i use this onepackage - http://www.multiupload.com/Y643XGWMMN (password: sampro.pl)
most mod advice againts onepackage probably because, some uploader / site only give backup files from PDA files like system.rfs, boot.img, and some other (you can only get this from your phone using normal backup).
when flashing only ginger's PDA files into froyo. you'll get stuck at boot. this is because froyo's bootloader can't boot ginger (and vide versa)
so check your files first.
4 speerate archieve can be easier to identify. but onepackgae file, you need to extract or open teh archieve in some archieving app (like winrar or 8zip)
2. if you already got onepackage file with all needed files. just use it.

Sorry for the double post. I thought I didn't post it at first. Thanks for the explanation men. I think I'm now ready to update my Ace.
Anyway, can you tell me more about this "when flashing only ginger's PDA files into froyo. you'll get stuck at boot. this is because froyo's bootloader can't boot ginger (and vide versa)". You said I will stock on boot? What will I do when I encounter this?

i could, but it'll just be a copy and paste and redundant from this one.
might as well refer to this post/thread

you'll mostly gonna get stuck at galaxy ace GT-5830 samsung boot screen.
when you do encounter this. just turn off your phone.
enter download mode, and flash another rom (back to froyo stock) or another ginger using another source.

most incomplete (or should i say update/version) or onepackage only include pds files backup. there's no bootloader, modem/phone/baseband.
so if you flash this ginger's update into froyo, your phone still using froyo's bootloader and baseband. this bootloader can't load ginger's system.
this is why most will advice to flash any full package ginger, to get the bootloader.
but if you already have the full onepackage, it's good to go.
i use XWKPN from the on i linked at post #12
there's 9 mirror from that multiupload link.

[Q] how to extract baseband (amss) from stock rom?

i need to extract the amms inside the ROM (which is a tar.md5 file), I tried to extract it with 7zip, but creating a new .tar with the file and using it to flash the baseband, Odin gets stuck on "download AMSS".
i need the amss from a 5830L, i tried to flash the amss from 2.3.4 stock rom in the russian 2.3.6, but for some reason after that the phone starts to lag, so i think i need the amss from the same version.
anyone know how to extract the amss and create a valid file to flash with?
You need to use Linux/Ubuntu to change the permissions from rwxrwxrwx back to rw-r--r--
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
You can only extract the file in 7Zip and repack it to Tar. However, you cannot repack it to a Odin Flashable tar. The way to do it is using either Linux or if on a Windows Machine, then Install Cygwin and run the commands from there. The commands is as follows:
tar -H ustar -c filename1.ext filename2.ext filename3.ext filename4.ext > OdinFlash.tar
Include all files to be packed including their extentions by replacing filename#.ext with the relevant filenames to be packed. The resultant tar will be flashable in Odin.
thanks, work perfectly

[Q] how to unpack tar.md5 ?

Hi,
I downloaded a ROM from sammobile.com for my galaxy tab 10.1, and all I want is system.img which is located in a tar.md5 file .
if I extract is with 7zip I get a message "there is no correct record at the end of archive"
and dsixda kitchen don't seem to recognize it .
any ideas please .
thanks.
Well its simple just rename it to .tar and use winrar to extract it. the md5 extension makes odin calculate a hash to check if the firmware you're flashing is not corrupted.
hi,
I did that and I got a message "there is no correct record at the end of archive"
the files are extracted but I think it is corrupted because dsixda kitchen can't read it.
just extract it by 7-Zip and don't care about message
I have this problem too, my 7-zpi say that canĀ“t open file format unknowed or damage.
your download maybe interupted, try download it again and do md5 checksum

dont use 7zip but use unoversal extractor. it will extract everything.
I have the same issue for 5301. I have to get either the recovery or system img for creating a custom rom. Usually samsung firmware files can be extracted using izarc, 7zip or universal extract tool. some can be opened with ultraISO or similar tool. I tried dsixdas kitchen as well. That does not even acknowledge this ROM. These firmwares come as a single tar file with md5 sum attached. There is something different about this ROM file that wont even let let the regular tools see what is inside the file. I tried to open it with a hex editor and it looks similar what a regular tar.md5 file would look. Looking at the log file from universal extractor:

0.6% (.LZMA) LZMA compressed file (1/1)
7-Zip Tar archive extractions cannot be logged.
If Odin can flash these files using the same boot, recovery and system... images then there must be a way to extract these img files. wonder if odin extracts to a temp location?

Use odinatrix to extrat system.img n modem files..
Its the easiest tool do so...
U may also use splitfus2 bt its way trickier to use than odinatrix.

Your pc shud b superfast so that odintrix can work witout lag.
My HP G6 lapi took around 10 mins to extrqct the one .tar.md5 file..
The tool will automatically extract diffrnt .tar files such as modem_xxx.tar pda_xxx.tar n csc_xxx.tar
Now u can use these to flash through odin witout any prb.
U can use pda.tar in kitchen to get boot.img n system.img.
Kitchen will also help u extract sysmtem foldr from system.img.
U can also flash through odin the single .tar.md5....
Choose that in pda field...

tar -H ustar -c recovery.img > CWMrecovery.tar
md5sum -t CWMrecovery.tar >> CWMrecovery.tar
mv CWMrecovery.tar CWMrecovery.tar.md5
When I flash this using odin3_v3.07 md5 is verified but he flash does not go through and stops at NAND write start. Is there a special way to create a odin flashable tar.md5 file foe these turbo firmwares?

[Q] Create file flashable through Odin?

Hey everyone
I have a question which I coudn't find anywhere on the forum for an answer...
I have a firmware for my galaxy ace named S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.md5
and I wanted to edit the baseband so I could make it work in my S5830L by just changing "amss" file...
But I can't change it if they are in .md5 and if I change the file to .zip and transfer amss, I can't change it back to .md5
How can I turn S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.zip into S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.md5
I don't know if you understand my question...
so here is what i understood you want to extract the. tar file change a file and repack it right. ... how different is the l version different from the Normal one

yes
The only difference is the frequency for 3G
S5830 uses for HSDPA 900 /2100
and S5830L 850 / 1900
By deafult odin has checksum md5 verification thats why there is a .md5 extension even if you manage to repack it the file wont get flashed through odin......
i have a workaround for you
flash the file directly there is a tutorial to extract and flash only baseband use that after flashing that zip .......

But I have a question
Can I create a .tar file with the complete firmware and flash it through Odin?
followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558715
I just added everything that was in the .md5 , replaced baseband file and put it back again in a .tar file
you can but need the change the checksum to the new value its better if you flash it seperately

Oh, but what do you mean with changing the checksum
the checksum is only to check if the file is corrupt or not or if it has been modified...
well checksum adds up all the files finds it's size and store's it when yoy change a file they may be of different: sizes so the checksum verification fails

Its not like im using the same .md5 file.
All I did was extract all the files from the .md5
Repacked them into a .tar file and it should be flashable through Odin...
Since its not .md5 it won't do a checksum
I added the .tar file into Odin - "One Package" and doesn't give me any error or anything... So I guess it should work the same as changing baseband does.
EDIT:
Thanks alot for your help
I managed to repack all the files to make a firmware flashable through Odin
All I did was this
$ tar -H ustar -c (all unpacked files in here) > firmware.tar
$ md5sum -t firmware.tar >> firmware.tar
$ mv firmware.tar firmware.tar.md5
I just flashed it through Odin and no problems at all
i thought that you were using the base ace rom by changing the file so said that checksum would vary btw your problem is solved right edit the title thread to solved it will say others time.....

can i flash a vendor.img.lz4 with TWRP?

Device : s9e
I downloaded a stock rom from sammobile but it refuses to flash because i have newer binary version (latest)
So i decided to extract the vendor.img.lz4 from it and flash it separately in TWRP.
But when i extract the vendor.img from AP i found that it has .lz4 extension. Can i just remove it and flash in TWRP? Or do i need additional steps? Thanks in
Update: i found 7zip zs and it allowed me to extract the .lz4 compressed file
You need to extract them first
On Windows 7-Zip ZS can do it

I downloaded a stock rom from sammobile but it refuses to flash because i have newer binary version (latest)
So i decided to extract the vendor.img.lz4 from it and flash it separately in TWRP.
But when i extract the vendor.img from AP i found that it has .lz4 extension. Can i just remove it and flash in TWRP? Or do i need additional steps? Thanks in
Update: i found 7zip zs and it allowed me to extract the .lz4 compressed file

You can flash .img with TWRP, idk what's Iz4 but you may want to search a Iz4 to img converter.
I'm not sure tho if Iz4 is just a nickname you can remove or you have to convert it to .img. you may want to search that too
Have a good day
