Should I switch my Preferred Mode from CDMA Only to Automatic? I notice download and upload speeds were alot more when I did switch to Automatic, but keep getting a FC on com.android.phone process? Had to Flash a new rom to get rid of the issue.
Really want the speeds back but dont want the A FC com.android.phone process.
Rom: CleanROM 2.1 (2.3.4 deoxed)
Any thoughts on CDMA ONLY vs Automatic?
I've done both and haven't seen a difference. I think all peoples phones may vary. I did a speed test on both and maybe its my area or phone but got nothing significant.

Putting the phone in Sprint only makes the phone inky look for Sprint towers. The only reason, really, to out Tue phone into automatic is if you know you are going to be roaming.

leave it in automatic also i would download roam control in the market because u can force roam anytime u want just in case ur signal with sprint is weak
No have no clue but i really wuld like to get my.hands on the deodexd version of the new 2.3.4 (2.08)ota update if u culd please post me a link

I've noticed since yesterday that my phone stays in CDMA only mode, no matter how many times I change it to Automatic, it doesn't stick.........any suggestions to change to Automatic and it stay?

Speed Test was showing a download speed of 0.06mbps and an upload of 0.10mpbs. I'm running Bionix V 1.2. Girlfriends Vibrant running 2.1 official (no hacked roms/kernels) is getting download speeds over 2.5mpbs on the download and upload is at around 1.10mpbs.
Does anyone know what the **** is going on? Pardon my language but this has been frustrating me all day, Pandora is dipping in and out, practically unlistenable and the browsing speed is been horrible.
I'm ready to just flash this back to stock and do this all over again but I'd really prefer an alternative...
I would try flashing a different modem. It seems like that would clear any issues up.

Sounds like you're throttled. Check how much data you have used.

He's right u could be throttle normally T Mobile will send u a txt message to let u know they throttle ur data speeds.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty good speeds with Bionix v 1.2. (2.5mb down) It could be you are getting poor reception with the new modem though, but I'm guessing you are throttled just like everyone else suggested.
after my first reboot with 1.2 my speeds were very poor, like .2 down, .3 up. Then I rebooted again and I'm back to where I should be. Check to make sure you're not throttled and give it a reboot.
Take a deep breath and reboot.
I had a similar issue and called tmob; they reset my connection (?) And told me I could pull my battery and wait ten minutes then boot up to fix it also.
My issue: I was unable to get any 3g connection and it wouldn't switch to edge. I switched to gsm manually and edge worked. I'm not clear on why it happened though or why switching to gsm manually worked. (I'm stock and this all happened before the froyo update)

Hey guys. I've had my EVO for a while and I've been flashing roms like a fiend, recently I've been stuck on 1x for a few days now. I switched to a stock based ROM and updated all my stuff. Called sprint and they reset my connection and its still on 1x. They want me to go into a store because they think its the phone. Any last minute ideas? Should I s-on or anything. Im also worried about them switching out the phones and me being able to root the new one.

in dialer dial ##DATA# click edit mode enter you msl click data profile then hit the settings(?) button on the bottom of phone click restore reboot phone let it do its thing see if that helps
And if you do end up bringing it in, normally a fresh flash of a completly stock ROM will work, as long as you don't have a custom splash screen they shouldn't notice s-off.
They would try to do an update which will include 1.5 bootloader.( I've seen someone who did this and ended up with 1.5 boot, with s-off as a result, but who knows what was done to it in the store)
Go with the instructions above my post, worth a shot..

Tried restoring, no luck still on 1x. I don't want to be stuck on hboot 1.5 don't they not have s off yet?

Pretty sure they would have checked that.

I'm not sure. This nocturnal Rom won't tell me. It updated the prl when I restored though.

With the change from Froyo to GB, we had to flash the Froyo EPST apk to get those codes to work. Not sure if that will work with ICS since it's such a big change from GB.
Just tried installing the ESPT-2.1 apk & got nothing.
I backed up & removed the ICS' ESPT before trying it.

im having the same issue. i updated from meanrom gb today to meanrom ics. my prl carried over from before but i cant manually change it using the ##775# code. i also tried flashing epst 2.1 but it didnt work for me either
If QPST works, can't you just use that?
Lengthier process that requires a computer, but it's either that or restoring to a GB rom and doing it.
Question....here at work i only get roaming for my phone on ics. Which prl for roaming would be good for me here....everyone else here uses verizon and they get good 3g here. Thanks in advance.
i use the 00001 prl for verizon when im getting bad sprint reception but i usually use the sprint corporate prl (22085). we could use qpst but i like to be able to switch between the 2 depending on how my sprint reception is because i really dont wanna get booted from my contract

This might sound crazy but I had the same issue. Mine was the otterbox commuter case was sticking to the power button a bit and powering off my phone and rebooting. Did you put a new case or something on it?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Dont use a case. Updated to 1.7 hopefully it stops

i kno its a pain in the a$$ but sometimes running an ruu back to stock and then rerooting the phone helps... worst case.. i did that when my evo 3d kept acting up like that.. and it helped...
Happened again today. Super annoying. If it happens again im going to sprint and demanding a new one

Try wiping everything including factory reset then reflash rom.
I did do that. Idk what the problem could be

Mine does this as well. I talked to HTC and they said if you don't LTE in your area, Sprint LTE that is but have Verizon LTE, your phone may be trying to latch on to the Verizon LTE, and since it can't quite connect it attempt to push more power to the LTE antenna to get it to connect, in doing so, it eventually pushes it pass a threshold and causes the phone to reboot. Apparently the issues seems to be popular in areas where there is no Sprint LTE and other LTE available. Sounds like a software issue on HTC's end, that will hopefully get fixed.
For now, you can try and go a *#*#4636#*#* and change your network to CDMA Only or EVDO Only and see if that keeps it from rebooting. (when you change to CDMA only, make a call right away otherwise you might not get incoming calls or texts)
I dont make many calls but the few calls i usually do make or receive are important and i would hate having to switch that. U think it will work if i turn off mobile network in the drop down settings???
Im in los angeles btw and i think verizon lte is live here

I have been traveling a lot in small town Missouri lately and for some reason my phone refuses to roam automatically. If I change the settings to "roam only MODE" it works fine. In "automatic mode" it only finds sprint networks. Anybody else have this issue? I am rooted and running Meanrom

Yeah I've had that since ICS. but I flashed the virgin mobile firmware when it leaked and thought it head something to do with that. Did you flashback it too?

No I never flashed any firmware. Meanrom was my first ICS rom. Clean rom before that

I've noticed on mine that I could have a strong roaming signal on Verizon, but if the phone even catches a whiff of a Sprint signal, it tries to switch to Sprint and data is lost. When it's doing that, roam only fixes it as you've noticed.

THat's what I am on. It seems it was better on 21085 and 21086. You can use QPST to change them, but again, I'm too lazy to do it.
Well if his phone roams fine in roam only mode, then the prl is fine.
What's likely happening is what Coal said. If your phone is on automatic, it tries it's hardest to stay on sprint at all times. Even if the signal is very very low, it will try to stay on it at all costs. Of course, we all know that's not how it should be, as that just kills the battery. I don't know if this is a rom issue or just a phone issue. You could try flashing back to a GB rom and see if it's any better.

It may be trying to stay on sprint but I literally was out of the sprint network for 3 hours and had no service, none. So I am leaning towards a ROM glitch or maybe radio but I dont know much about the radio part.

Maybe is is Android 4.0+ or the new firmware because I used to travel through a bad spot on the way to work and woudl roam, for a while now I just loose signal now even though I am on automatic.
