And don't lie to everyone about "not knowing" where to look. The link I'm giving you is the first thread in the first sub-forum. I'm not trying to be rude but it's very obvious you didn't even try.

[Q] Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant

Hi experts,
I have a couple of questions in regards to my SGS Vibrant originally locked to Virgin Mobile Canada. I have rooted and in locked the device using Galaxy Unlock tool on the marketplace. This included rooting.
1. Now that it's unlocked what will happen if I upgrade the OS to a later on the future? Is the unlockin going to be reset?
2. Same thing if I have to restore th device to factory condition, will it reset the unlocking?
3. Now that it's unlocked, can I unroot the device?
Can someone please throw some light on this?
Okay
No unlocking will not prevent future ota unless you use a carrier that isn't virgin mobile
If you reset / wipe it will still be unlocked
Yes unlocking has nothing to do with rooting you can unroot

Sorry to hijack your thread but it seems like this might be a good place to ask this as well instead of just making a new thread, is there any way to check if a Vibrant is unlocked without putting in a sim from a different carrier?
Thanks.
Nevermind, quick google search found the answer

Alanrocks,
Thanks or responding to my query. Infect after reading our response, I tried restting the device to factory condition and sure enough my phone remained unlocked. Reading your response I was not sure what exactly you meant here for my 1st question "No unlocking will not prevent future ota unless you use a carrier that isn't virgin mobile"
Can you please elaborate?

Did you try flashing the unlock sbf first with RSD Lite?
It's painful how unhelpful people are around here.
Did you already update to 2.3.4 over the Motorola servers? I thought I remember people saying that you're unable to unlock the bootloader on the final release build of GB :<

if that does not work you should try looking at

Ummm I believe that I have provided helpful and informative information. Why recreate someone else guide's when it works and is already posted?

You can still unlock, you will just have a soft brick that will fix when you issue the unlock commands. You just have to make sure that you use the fruitcakes through CWM if you need to go to an earlier build or else you will hard brick.
Here, since you're in such a rush, take a look at this:

rooting, just use the app 'universal androot', if that fails, try 'superoneclickroot'
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389712&highlight=sim+unlock
^that thread could possibly help you with unlocking it, i dont know how risky it is though
thank you
do i root it before unlocking the phone?

Will universal Androot erase everything?
no it just use a exploit to crack android security and give you root acess.

[Q] Installing custom ROM on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I need a pinch of help out here. I recently unlocked my SGH-I777 by rooting it(CWM) and using Galaxy S Unlock app. I wish to use UnNamed or Cyanogenmod ROM. So can this be done on my phone?? I mean will it be locked again? Do i have to unlock it all again? Please let me know it in brief. If there is some procedure for phones which have been rooted and unlocked and wanting to install custom roms please let me know. I tried searching solutions especially for cases like those of me but unfortunately didnt find anything. Your help will be greatfull.
Flashing a ROM shouldn't remove your unlock. You're fine...my unlock is still there after flashing almost everything here.

This site really prefers that you first search for answers and read the stickies before posting. Your question could have easily been answered by doing so instead of starting this thread. Look in General for the FAQ sticky as it has lots of good info on this phone.
Your phone will remain unlocked. You should be fin flashing UnNamed or CM7.
