I found a new version of market on XDA. Have installed it and it works fine. Its maybe slightly faster than the previous one.
Install normally and then go into titanium-->application(refresh list first)-->long press on Market-->integrate update into ROM.

Have u checked this one out?
3.0.27 was super slow, dont know about this one.
3.1.3 is just a bit faster
Markets 3.x are damn slow because loads of images are loading all the time
Tried this one too it sucks even on 3G but the +1 feature is nice

any chance of a different mirror?
Is it any better than the one included with AP4?
the AP4 version is excellent, the only thing missing is Flash Lite 3, but I guess we'll have to wait for the final version to get it...

having finally got hold of it and installed it, I'm finding it a bit more responsive, uses the newer skin style.
One thing I hope they do get done one day is the opera link bookmark thing.
Played with this for a bit it seems to shut down a bit better as well, the one included in ap5 seemed to have a memory leak if left running for a while.

Feel free to mirror a link. I'm busy as hell atm.
This version let's me use Tengo software keyboard. Finally.
It exits quickly without causing my today screen to go blank without the plugin forever.
All the 'black letters on black buttons' problems are gone.
The software keyboard still pops up occasionally unless I disable Java script.
The problem of not reclaiming the space previously occupied by the keyboard them I toggle off the keyboard is solved though, so even if I have Java script left active is not a big deal anymore. (edit: spoke too soon. The unreclaimed space problem still happens once in a while)
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this browser. I think the battle with Netfront 3.5 is over.
As usual, I set my minimum overview zoom to 70% instead of the default 60, and I use large icon size. This allows me to clearly read web pages at the overview level and have working links without having to zoom in first.
Edit: The above setting is no good for bbc web page. Need more fiddling.
So does anyone know how to successfully run the new Fennec pre alpha on a non rooted Droid Eris on 2.1.?
no, but in the brief article I read it said you need a droid or nexus one
its not really possible, it has major force close issues.
I downloaded the apk and instaled it on 2.1 root and experinced fc after a few moments of running. It sucks...really want to try it out.
Running it on droid, its nothing to call home about.
with me being on aloysius 2.0v6, and all my apps instaled, I could not even make room to try and install a 10mb apk... it's actually the one and only true time i wanted apps2sd on the eris.
are you all using this build? http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/28/firefox-now-available-for-android-2-0-and-above-still-at-pre-al/ it seems like the newest one out there.
Yay I'm running non-rooted Droid Eris 2.1 leakv3 and the latest pre-alpha just runs for a second and then crashes every time I run it, any fixes?

Wait, your saying Opera, of all the browsers is good? That's by far the worst mobile browser available!!!! Not saying Fennec will be better.........Maybe I just need to get used to Opera, but that's just my opinion..

Whats wrong with it? It loads incredibly fast, has a nice UI, offers a nice homepage launcher, etc. I think it's a hell of a browser, from what I understand they load most of the page on their end and send the finished product to you. The only complaint i have is lack of multitouch but that is in no way a deal breaker.
If you don't believe the speed difference a/b between the stock browser and opera with androidcentral.com
Last time I used opera, it was just too clunky and navigating through the menus was a big pain. Im currently using skyfire 2.0 and it does the same thing with loading the page through its servers first to take the load off the phone. It hd some really nice features as well. I highly suggest everyone try it. There was a good tutorial on phandroid.com about all the features. Check it out

Cool, I think its pretty neat.
Using Skyfire as well..it is way better than Dolphin, stock, Xscope and Opera. It is fast and somehow it remembers your bookmarks. Got real tired of saving bookmarks/favorites and losing them when you installed a new OS
I have tried different roms, A LOT of different roms, and and all of them seem to be laggy and slow, including my original rom.
Could I be doing something wrong? or could the phone have some kind of error which causes a slow phone?

Damn. Thats the only suggestion i had.
I did read somewhere that doing a nandroid backup, then a full wipe and restoring the nandroid will give you slightly better performance.
Its like doing a disk defrag on your pc/lappy apparently.
I just flashed SlideVillain 1.1.0 which seems ok at the beginning. But allready some apps have laggy respons ex Friendstream.
Just for comparing i played around with a friends iPhone which is blazing fast compared to my hero. Really snappy respons. I am so close to switching...
Help anyone?
2.1 ROMs are known to slow down for no apparent reason.
The ROM I'm using is still on fire, try it out for yourself.
Ok, all I've tried is 2.1 roms, I'll look into Modaco soon. Thx!

Linpack = 3.078
Softweg = Too much writing,... what exactly do you need?
SenseHero is a 2.1 ROM.
Been running couple weeks, extremely quick and no lagg noticeable.
All other 2.1 ROMs are slow for me too.
Really, what do you expect from such a crap CPU? Sometimes, i feel that an OMAP 180MHz is better than this qualcomm cpu without fpu (lol).
Sorry.. but this ****ty cpu is generally slow. eg:
- opening messages, mail, peep, etc takes seconds on mine.
- games runs baddly.
- flikering between screens is snappy (when there's no cpu stres).
- sometime even the notification bar is laggy, most of the time is ok.
- sound output via bluetooth is choppy, and even choppier when you try to play a youtube video. i think this is pathetic, sooo pathetic.
- scrolling in sites is horrible sometime (eg: first zoom out a site then scroll). scroll is fluent at initial zoom on many site, but there are sites where the scrolling sucks (eg: pocketnow, wordpress mobile sites, etc)
- process listing takes a few seconds . this should be instant..
- more that I can't remember ATM
(they should brand the company crapcomm)
PS: using the latest official firmware.
I was wondering how to make angry birds work on the android froyo FRX06 on TP2, as in I couldn't install it from the marketplace, is there any other way?
There is a version in a tiad thread I think on ppcgeeks that worked pk on our phones. It was modded somehow. Search over there and you should be able to find it. I have not tested it on the current builds however.

It wasn't modded, it was just the 'Lite' version.
If you find a 'Lite' version of the APK, use it.
I still don't understand the fascination with this game... I played the 'Rio' version, it's really quite boring...

It's just a fun time killer I guess, for when I have to wait in an elevator or something and have nothing productive to do... I have a friend who has 3 stars on almost every level... how he isn't bored, I will never know.

Perhaps your definition of 'worked fine' and everyone elses is different - was it laggy? Did you see a severe drop in FPS? AFAIK this is due to the original version being openGLES2.0, which our devices do not support...

Eh, I prefer games like Labyrinth... But I only play it like once a month. Not a big gamer on the phone, that's what my PS3 is for . (I do realize you can't exactly play a PS3 in an elevator, but hey.)
I only tried to launch angry birds (rio I think?) once, never actually got around to playing it. Lotsalag on some pre-play cutscenes so I moved on.

Has ben heck not gotten around to that one yet?
I'm picturing a ghostbuster's style backpack and either a helmet with a visor screen or, for the extreme sports types, a mount for a 40" LCD (for splitscreen multi, of course) suspended forward.

Working fine, as in it was playable, the cut-scenes were slow but that didn't bother me. Apart from that it was okay.
Certainly wasn't a "30fps" experience, but good enough for me.
I was under the impression our devices did support OGLES2.0? No driver support (yet)?

The GPU was designed back when GLES 1.0 was new. It handles GLES 1.1 with an update, that's as much as it can do in hardware.

Indeed as highlandsun states - we do not have the hardware support for 2.0.
Ahh bummer. Oh well, the compromise we make with older hardware. I'm not yet ready to upgrade, and I enjoy the tinkering side of things anyway!

Im runing the at (honeycomb) rom and using the market version.. this is the best rom from my experience but if u flash it u need too install lcd density changer and change the density too 240 otherwise when u get on the market alot of apps say not compatible with this device and wont let u download. Great rom i have zero problens with it very fast and stable. Over clocked too 1.3 ghz and loving it. My quadrant is consistantly over 4000

Set it on 240 anyway and select the daemon then itll restart your phone. Then try if thats a no go. Click menu setings applicationa clear data for market

None of that stuff works for me. I have the paid version from amazon(doesn't work) and the free version with ads from the market and neither work! I'm on home base right now maybe I'll try honeycomb rom as last ditch effort. Really wanted to play this but I'm doubting I will be able now.
Edit: Holy crap! It actually runs on honeyatrix rom!! I can't believe it and am wondering why it wont work on any other rom??? but I'm happy that its working finally!! Thanks silver03wrx !!

Huh you got it working on darkside? I didnt think it worked on that? I wonder if it has something to do with blur because both honeyatrix and darkside have quite a bit of blur in it still. The other roms I was using do not. How the hell could blur effect anything with a game running or not though?! That can't be it??
Edit: just flash the newest darkside and the game still freezes on it for me. Honeyatrix is the only one it runs on it seems for me...
i think this game have bolted dirty function running in backend that cause freeze

I don't know what that is??? But how come it works fine on Seanz's Honeyatrix and other roms it doesn't???
You know what I think this game is a piece of ****! It stopped working on the honey atrix rom too after I added fauxs 1.45 oc kernel and uv values too it. Oh well maybe one day the dev of this game will fix it!
Anybody who likes this game and wants it running it runs perfectly on darkside 3.1.0 lite version! Awesome!
I'd love to know what the hell is causing it to freeze on practically every other rom though!? hmmm....
