Titanium & My Backup Pro not working on Photon - Motorola Photon 4G

Both these Apps won't work on my Photon (even thou I am Rooted, verified by Root Check, even BusyBox is installed). My Backup Pro will Backup Apps BUT not Data. Titanium Pro w/licenses will Not work at all.
From what I understand it's a ROM/Kernel thing (worked on my EVO with Myn's Warm 2.2 then Synergy). Any workarounds? Thanks.

Titanium has been working for me.

Titanium works for me too.

Restored using TB and just made a successful backup of both apps and system. Works just as it did on my ogEVO.

What kind of error did you get when running Titanium Backup?
Did you forget to allow root access in superuser for TB?
I would try these 2 things:
1. download busybox installer from market then re-install busybox
2. click on problem in TB and download busybox from TB itself.
Mine is working fine without issue.

Working fine with mine and with the latest sprint MR

I am cool now. Just had to uninstall and reinastall Titanium and My Back up Pro(s). Then downloaded BusyBox. I have already made backups using both. Thanks for the replies

uninstalling system apps with titanium backup Pro

hey there..
in this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740338
u can read about the apps u can uninstall and how...
but u can also do it via titanium backup pro cant u?
ive deleted road sync and all the other crap...
its gone... away from the phone... so why the hard way?
im a noob, so maybe there is a reason for it, people uninstall trough the command promp and gain superuser access. ive got superuser access trough my titanium backup..
for sure you can do it with Titanium backup Pro, the "problem" is that it is paid app, so not all of us can do those things by Titanium Backup..
sorry for offtopic, I do to understand why you created a separate thread for this question, you should ask directly there.. I do not think this question needs separate thread..
your right, shouldnt have needed a new topic..
and by the way...
Im using the free version of titanium backup aswell. just check it out... i uninstalled the original homescreen aswell with titanium backup (free version)
I don't really follow. Why would you want Titanium Pro? Everything worth doing (uninstalling, taking backup, scheduling backups) is available in the free version. Or am I wrong?

no ur right
Titanium is awesome for removing systems apps on a rooted phone. The problem with the free version is that it won't allow you to restore the backups you've made through the Titanium app. You could still do it manually though.

Ah, that explains it. So when I'm in deep **** I have to pay to restore everything I've backed up. Smart!
Anyways, what is it Titanium backs up? Is it just the apps or also app settings?
/Daniel
Backs up apps and data, full version does it and restores in one click. Well worth it!
to increase this thread's usefulness , I suggest that you try to share the apps you got.. =D paid and free.. thanks! [im begging]
Ok I tried following Myn's suggestion of unistalling Flash and now my phone won't reboot. I try to go into recovery and it won't let me. Any thoughts?
Trying not to freak out
I have an Htc Aria im trying to do this on it but when i do via titanium backup it restarts and i get a android with a yellow caution sign. Any ideas?
Im running TB Pro and I too am getting the Android with caution on reboot. Then I check and the App is still there. On Epic 4G

Titanium backup only *seems* to work on Archangel-rooted A101

On my A101 with the 2.1.08 firmware, the main reason I bothered to root with Archangel was to use Titanium Backup. This program works flawlessly on my (rooted) Evo 4G. On my tablet, after running Archangel, TB looks like it's running, and backing everything up - no errors.
I had to RMA my tablet because of the USB/Sleep problem, and I thought I was good to go because I had a backup.
It turns out most/all of the backup files are empty. Restoring them either does nothing at all, or restarts the launcher.
Has anybody confirmed a successful restore using TB on an Archangel-rooted Gen8 device?
Just thought I'd put this out there for anybody assuming their TB backups are good. I'm about to try MyBackup.
Yes, I restored a backup to a freshly formatted unit, no problem. I'm sure with all the testing people here do, backups are tested quite regularly.

Yes thats correct. The first thing to do when installing titanium backup is selecting the "Problems" button to install a good busybox.
It works perfectly after that even with archangel root.
Ok - maybe I forgot to update BusyBox this time. I'll give it another chance.
- thx.
TB worked flawlessly with my rooting method after updating the busybox.

[Q] titanium backup restore not working

So I upgraded my ROM from das bamf 1.6.3 to 1.8, and backup all my apps using Titanium backup. Well when I restore my apps, they all force close. If I restore just the app and no data, it works. But when I restore the data they start force closing. Any ideas on how to get this fixed?
hmm...I've never heard of this happening before as long as I've used it. You are only restoring data for User apps right? Restoring system app data can cause FC's but I've never heard of it happening to user apps unless the data is corrupt.
You may want to make a nandroid, then load your backup of 1.6.3 and force redo all your backups then load load your 1.8 backup again and restore.
The only other thing I can think of is that TiBu is not setup the same as in the other installation. When you were on 1.6.3, did you select "Auto-sync TB settings" from the preferences menu so that they carry over? Also, TiBu is installed to the same place as before right (/system/app vs /data/app)?
I did not have auto sync setup. I did a batch backup of user apps before flashing my ROM. I tried individually restoring the user apps vs doing batch as well. I am not sure if titanium backup is installed in the same place. If I uninstall titanium backup, will I lose my backups? I might uninstall and reinstall titanium backup from the market

did you make a clockwork backup before going to the new rom version? if so then re flash 1.8 and then go into recovery and select advanced restore and then do data only from your 1.6.3. that should restore all your apps exactly as they were in 1.6.3 and totally bypass titanium so you could at least scratch that off the list if it doesnt work...

No, you won't lose your backups. They are in the TitaniumBackup folder on your sdcard which remains there regardless of whether TiBu is installed or not.

Not a great idea since that would restore all system data too.
If it's the same rom, that would be fine but it's likely to cause problems with upgrades (not always but usually).
Hmm can't uninstall TiBu. It came as part of the ROM I believe. I am kind of bummed to lose all my games progress

That's what's causing your problem then. I've noticed that data backups made with a /data/app installed TiBu have problems being restored from a /system/app version. That's why I initially asked if it was installed to the same place on both installations.
Manually remove the apk from /system/app using a file explorer or terminal (and pm uninstall it if you wish) then install from Market. Then you should be able to restore you backed up data.
If you want to know how to manually uninstall something (other than just deleting the apk using a file manager) check here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones
Hmm I am unable to delete the file

Ive had the same problem. It only happens to my amazon downloads. Ive tired reinstalling tibu and restoring the data and app but nothing works. I just stop playing amazon games.

Yea. Like 90% of my apps don't work. Even ones from the market.

There is no reason it shouldn't if you know how to do it. That's why I included that link.

Like I said, if your previous backups were made with a version of TiBu that you installed from the Market then you need to install it from Market again to restore that data.
So, get a file explorer that performs root operations and delete TitaniumBackup.apk from /system/app.
Or in terminal type:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm -f /system/app/TitaniumBackup.apk
reboot
You may have to verify that is what the apk is named.
Anyway, after that, install TiBu from the Market, open it, and restore whatever apps and user data you want.
Thanks for all the help so far absolute_zero. I am having an issue where when I try the mount line, I get a message telling me the flags to use for mount. I am not that Linux savvy, but I am guessing it thinks I have an inappropriate flag set up or something. Any ideas?
I use titanium backup all the time. I flash roms probably every three or four days if you average it out.
One thing I had problems with once before was using titanium backup that was installed with the ROM. Ive done it both ways, restored my titanium pro using the regular titanium in the ROM, and just downloading and reinstalling the pro version from the market. Once I got my normal pro version installed it went like butter. I sync to Google, let the market install as many apps as possible and manually install a few important ones, then filter to user and "backed up". Once I have that list I batch restore missing apps and all app data.
Rooted Thunderbolt on BAMF Sense 3.0 RC 4 with MR2 radio and latest dreamKernel.
Awesome got it uninstalled, and the backups are working now. Had to uninstall it through adb though. Thanks for the help everyone.

Titanium Backup Issue with Custom Rom TF300

Hi,
I installed this custom stock rom on my TF300 and it's fantastic.
[ROM] ASUS ICS HYDRO 4.4-(8/10)-TF300/TF300tg-Super Fast!! MANY TRY BUT NON COMPARE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750861
It's rooted with busybox and SU permissions and works fine in most apps that require root. The only issue is that Titanium Backup uses it's own inbuilt version of busybox and states I don't have root.
Can I do anything about this rather apart from download an alternative backup app? Titanium is great and also gets rid of bloatware but is useless unless I can trick it into using external busybox SU permissions.
Any help would be appreciated.

You could try installing the version of busybox that TB prompts you to install when it says it can't find busybox. Alternately you could try installing a different version of busybox altogether. If those don't work I would recommend you try My Backup Root or the paid version My Backup Pro. My only word of caution with My Backup (Not sure they fixed it since the last time I used it) is that when it went to restore my music playlists it messed them up. So if that's something that is important to you then I would look into a different app for backing up music playlists.

System uid inconsistent

Has anyone ever had this issue with the S5? I downloaded an update for Facebook yesterday that I can swear was a virus. That update wanted to take over my phone. I was on the latest firmware installed via mobile odin. I had Link2SD, XSPOSE, XPRIVACY, Titanium Backup, XStorage, and BusyBox installed. I don't know what happened. Facebook kept telling me that I needed more storage to operate it. Can anyone help with this issue?
Did you restore from a backup right before this happened? Or rather, did you use Titanium Backup to restore your apps right before this happened?

This sometimes happens to me when I install a new rom and then use titanium to restore all my apps. I have pro, so I have the ability to change the id to what my previous id was. If you don't have pro, I'm pretty sure that you can't restore it. If I were you, I'd donate. It's a great app that I use daily.
Good luck.
