i installed the 2.3 firmware but it is having no built in file manager, i am not having internet services in my mobile right now, how do i install any file in it??
Search in the marketplace for Astro File Manager or any file manager. I use Root Explorer for my needs but any of those file managers should work.
Edit: Oops, didn't read that part about no internet service. You might be out of luck if that's the case. Connect to wifi?
If you have internet access at all like a computer. Just download the apk and you can use flashtool to insall it.

..JusT Try 2 Help..
How come your GB 2.3 installed w/o File Explorer or Application Installer..
But..calm down..many Way to Rome DuDe..as long as you have..
1. SD Card = Flashdisk..use it to transfer apk file from PC (Public Internet Service PC) to your SDCard..then Install It..
2. You have Friends with Android Phone don't you..? Transfer the apk file via "Bluetooth" then Install It..
3. Yessss..Find a Public HoTSpoT..then Go OnLine..
4. Go to Sony Ericsson Service Center to Help you Install the File Manager apk..
You said you don't have "Internet Connection"..but why you can post the thread..
OK..the Internet Connection from a PC..and you have No "Data Cable" or a Card Reader to Connect to your PC..
Use flashtool to root it, then install any apps what you need from it, i recommend you to install file manager first.

Hey guys just got my x10 and was wondering how do i install an app that i downloaded on PC?
also, when in the dialpad, is it possible to type the name of the contact that i want to call instead of dialing the number or going to contacts?
Thanks
Copy the file to your sd card via usb then install using a file explorer. If the app is on market, connect your phone to internet (wifi if possible) and download directly to phone.
In dialpad just numbers, go to phone book and type the name, is just one touch away
Or easier is to download "awesome drop" to get the apk's on your phone and install from there directly. No cables, no searching in file explorer.

I uninstalled the installed app.
How can i get it back ??
Dont think you can unless someone has the apk for it...Only way to get it back would be reflashing your miui ROM
Give me just a few minutes. I'll pull the apk and upload it for you.
edit:
Here ya go. This was pulled from Trip's Iris MIUI 0.1.61. Let me know if you need instructions on installing it.
View attachment Backup.apk
I have a same problem could u post instrucrions on how to install it please...

download it then use a file explorer to browse to it click it and install. If you didn't know downloads from xda app go to tapatalkxda... folder on your SD if you're using your phone.
You can get any app out of a ROM .zip file by viewing it in root explorer then navigate to data>app then long press any app you want and press on extract, then go to the extracted folder on your SD and click the apk to install it.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
Just in case you need further instructions:
Connect your X10 to your computer via the USB cable.
Enable USB storage on your phone.
Transfer the Backup.apk to your sd card.
Use a file explorer (Astro or something similar) to navigate to Backup.apk. If you're using MIUI, you probably already have File Manager. Open File Manager and tap "APKs".
Select the file and install it.
"Unkown Sources" must be enabled. You can find it under Settings -> Applications -> Development Settings
When I do that it says app not instaled

Flash this via cwm wipe cache dalvic etc

does anyone know if this MIUI backup would work on other roms, such as CM9 or CM10.
for example if it depends on other system parts of the MIUI rom
Hello!
This may sound like a dumb question but how do I search for a document (pdf, doc xls...) which I know is the SD card but I don't remember where exactly?
If use the search feature, even though I remember the file name, it wont find anything, is there a plugin or another app to install to be able to search for files on the phone?
I have an Xperia Mini Pro SK17i
If you do a search in the market for Explorer. Explorer will search both the files on the phone and the files on your memory card. Explorer is a free app. The makers of Explorer also have an app call Root Explorer which has further options for rooted phones. Both are great
Thank you!
But isn't it ironic that a Master of Search like Google didn't put a simple file search feature in his OS? :-/
I use astro file manager, pretty fast
I just downloaded File Expert which is a file explorer and allows you to create an FTP or Web server on the phone to access the file via wifi. Haven't tested yet but seems pretty cool
Alright well because of my situation I do not have Wi-Fi for the next 5 months. I have internet (obviously). Well I have 0 apps from the android market and that is also astro. When I try to put apps onto my SD card I cannot install them (obviously). Debating on rooting it and I am running Android Ver 3.1. Does anybody have any ideas for my issue?
Did you try installing those apps with the option "Allow unknown sources" (something like that) checked, in the Definitions->Applications menu?
Yes I have tried to do that. what I have done is go into the file transfer, transfer to a folder, locate file still on the file transfer app and push on it. The open file selection in grayed out.
Install adb drivers for the tab on your computer. Turn on USB Debugging. Find an apk install file of ES File Explorer or Astro. Connect your tab to pc via usb cable. Install this apk onto your tab by typing the following command into cmd: 'adb install fullpathtoapk' where fullpathtofile is for e.g 'd:\install.apk'
Find the adb drivers here: www.forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488822
If i helped, press the thanks button!
Try installing something like the Astro File Manager on your tablet. After you copied the app file from your PC into the tablet's SD, run Astro, locate the file an then install it (this, inside Astro)...
As putente said, although Sony's File Transfer app cannot open apk's, most file explorers such as ES File Explorer, Solid Explorer, and Astro File Manager will have their associations set so that apk's can be opened using the built-in (and available offline) Package Installer. So, first use either adb install or WiFi to install a good file manager, then load your apk's on your external SD, browse to them in your new file manager, and open with the Package Installer.
Thank you
Thank you xyancompgeek, you led me into the right dirrection. Yeah Wifi would have been a nice option but I am kinda on deployment so that helps out a lot with passing the time

AW: Plz help me
download x-plore or another filemanager from market / playstore
Sent from my HTC Desire V using xda premium
Yeah. The HTC desire V does not have any file explorer by default. You will have to have Internet connection, to download and install at least the File manager/explorer from Play store.
Tip: On the play store search for an app called 'appInstaller' from some developer called Gregory. Using this u will be able to search for all the apk files on your sd card and install them, back up installed apps into apk format, and also move the installed apps to sdcard to save phone memory.
The appInstaller app I mentioned is not more than 400KB in size but is a gr8 utility to possess. You can install Astro from it if u have the apk file for it. Downloading Astro on cellular plan with take more time coz it is about 5MB.
I hope I helped you. Hit thanks if I did.
So,i need to download a file manager ri8.. wats the best one, which wil allow me to c sd crd or both internal and sd crd..
i hv astro and file manager.. but ne btr??
I did not say that you necessarily have to download the heavier Explorer, I suggested you to download the 'appInstaller' app from Play store. For your second question I would say that Astro is good; but there have been reports of it being slow so people switched to ES File manager. I would suggest you to try that add well.
THanks Bro.. ES File manager ri8.. ok i wil.. but i cant use internet pass through.. and so i cant download thm
