I just replaced my Fascinate, and now I can't find any of the files. The links are dead, and I can't seem to connect to to my laptop.
Odin CWM recovery all or the one for the MTD roms. Boot straigt into recovery 3 finger method and flash rom. That is it. Obvioulsly your roms and kernal will be on your sd card.
I'm just looking to root it; on my last device my GPS hardly ever worked. Works fine with the stock ROM. The last time I rooted I used a one-click method; what happened to that?
Its now o so easy.
If you like stock, you can odin geewiz (which contains root) or use the cmw recovery all (odin) boot strait into recovery and flash power washed rom.
This should have been posted in "Q & A" that's why it's there.

Im sorry if this has been covered, ive spent the last 2 days reading the Vibrant bible thread and also over on Cyanogen site and Android spin and im really frustrated with how often my device soft bricks.
i have 5 roms on my internal SD card and Rom manager running. i was able to use the option to install form SD card no problem for 4 roms and the 5th one was one called Hybrid R4 and when it rebooted into the clockwork recovery and performed the format and update then it rebooted into the Vibrant logo for 5 min. i removed the battery and rebooted so many times and same thing.
this is the 3rd time this has happened and its so annoying even more so because i know i have a good ROM on the internal SD card i can load up again but i cant get to it because i cant get into clockwork because i keep getting the stock samsung recovery screen with limited options resulting in having to use ODIN to flash the stock firmware and start over.
when i had my Mytouch i had a permanent recovery flashed to the device so i neve rhad to do this. are the Vibrants not able to have a alternate recovery console flashed to it?
which rom are you flashing over? It sounds like you are going from a 2.2 froyo rom. Hybrid R4 is from the time before the Devs started including Kernels with their roms. If you want to flash a 2.1 rom thats doesn't include the kernel over a 2.2 rom you need to flash a 2.1 kernel first. Search the bible for kingklicks kernel or Justanothercrowds kernels. Good luck.
Edit: also when you flash clockworkmod recovery in rom manager, it places a special update.zip in your root directory. leave it there. when you soft brick all you need to do in the samsung stock recovery is reinstall packages (sometimes needs to be done twice) and it will load clockworkmod recovery.
and they can have clockwork permanently flashed but it sometimes causes other problems. Eugene373 has a few kernels for 2.2 that have it permanently flashed, but it caused me issues when trying to flash another rom over it where i had no recovery at all, not even samsungs.
Hi all! As the name suggests, I'm trying to get from stock ED01 to KangBang 2.0 with OTB 1.6. I'm familiar with android, having spent a year hacking the OG droid, but it seems the Fascinate is a whole nother beast in and of itself. So far I've read up on:
-How to use odin
-How to use adb
-What voodoo is
-Current ROM offerings
-Multiple 'how-to' guides
My problem, however, is that some of the guides are dated so I'm a tad uneasy on just jumping straight in. One thing in particular is how do I aquire root and flash 3.x.
This guide is the most relevant thing I can find but it uses cwm 2.x. Should I follow the guide verbatim while JUST replacing which cwm I'm flashing or is there a different set of rules to follow? Better yet, is there an easier way of doing this that I've overlooked?
Get Comrom and put it in your SD card.
Use Odin to flash CWM 3.0 in your phone(use PDA section/button). >http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36791/CWM3_Voodoo.tar.md5
After you do that, power phone on holding down the volume buttons to get to CWM.
Clear data, cache, dalvik.
Install Comrom from your sd card, let your phone chill while voodoo boots.
Enjoy
Thanks so much for a quick reply! Just one last question. Do I need to root before installing CWM or does root install with KB?
Since Com Rom is already rooted, you do not need to root first. Just make sure you boot directly into CWM after flashing it with Odin, then flash Com Rom.
Edit: If, after flashing CWM through Odin, you accidentally boot all the way, CWM will get erased (due to the stock kernel). Just reflash it with Odin
It's Actually quicker to do an odin load of commrom 2 from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048380 this will include CWM in the build.
Just FYI, the cwm included in the build is not current, but it allows the ROMs to load after flashing through ODIN. If you follow the instructions in the thread, you are guided to flash CWM 3.0 after flashing and booting up the ROM.
Ok, so long story short - I went through a lot of steps to restore my fascinate to stock, and then rooted it through recovery. It worked fine until I installed Rom Manager and now my phone won't boot into recovery again. My question is - did I do something wrong?
I restored my phone to stock using Heimdall
Updated it to the latest version
Rooted it using odin and flashing recovery
then installed Rom Manager
Thank you for all your help guys!!!

download odin (onto pc), a non stock kernel and the recovery.zip that you want to use.(both recovery.zip and non stock kernel on your sd card)
Put your phone in dl mode and flash recovery via odin...when odin is done, immediately three finger boot into recovery and flash non stock kernel, and reboot.
Unless your on cm7 rom manager is useless and will bring more hurt then help, and your recovery is being overwritten by the stock kernel every time you boot which is why you need the non stock kernel...I personally would recommend a rom that contains a kernel...you can find a list of all roms, kernels, and recoveries in the dev section stickies.
Do you know how to properly flash roms, and kernels? I ask because I don't want to get you stuck even worse...if you need step by step instructions I'll reply later when I'm at a pc
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You can give me a few tips and hints. That would be appreciated. Also, I thought the easiest way was through Rom Manager.
On a side note - what would be the most stable ROM to flash to the fascinate?
EDIT: Ok, so I installed PowerWashed 1.2 ROM and can handle this on my own a little bit. I'm still a little unsure on which roms are most stable/trustworthy, but I might stick with this one for a while.
I bought phones for my parents for Christmas. Managed to find two BNIB MDK Verizon GS4s on eBay. I currently have an S4 MDK that I rooted myself with no problems.
I went through using the Odin method to downgrade the kernel to root the device, just like I did on mine. When I downloaded ROM Manager, for some reason it wouldn't allow me to flash CWM, so I used terminal emulator to install it using the Loki method found here:
http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-r...on-att-or-verizon-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337sch-i545/
After I booted into CWM recovery, I wiped everything (didn't nandroid :/) before installing a stockish debloated ROM - BoneStock 1.1.4 which is what I've been running. When I went to install The ROM zip from my ext sd card, the card wouldn't mount. I can't get my device to mount at all in recovery so I can't even sideload anything.
One thing that I may have done wrong is not flashed the second CWM file to upgrade the recovery to CWM v6.0.4.7.
Currently the phone will not boot passed the Samsung logo. Is there anyway to flash a different version of CWM through recovery? Or would that even fix my problem? I can get into download mode fine. I can still boot into CWM but it's useless at this point.
Could someone PLEASE help me! I feel like I've made a stupid mistake somewhere.
I check the CWM recovery version on my device and currently I'm running version 6.0.3.2. Could that be the reason I keep getting the error unable to mount the sd card? Does anyone have a current version of CWM recovery that's flashable over ODIN? I'm thinking that's my last resort before attempting to restore the MDK TAR.

MDK TAR sounds like the only way to go. Make sure to get the MDK one though!
Theoretically, there are other ways, such as flashing a new recovery from your current one, but with Loki, that would probably be harder than what its worth.
Does anyone have any clue why I wasn't able to use ROM manager to flash CWM recovery?
ODIN MDK TAR file worked. I still don't know what went wrong and why CWM recovery couldn't mount my SD card so I could flash a ROM.
I recently bought a used Galaxy Tab 2 off of Craigslist where everything worked perfectly fine.
I wanted to update to Lollipop, having done so already on my Note II, so I was gonna get CWM to flash the zip.
The CWM wouldn't boot up so I tried TWRP, didn't work also.
I found all the appropriate .tar files for Odin to flash but it simply won't boot into neither CWM nor TWRP.
I tried many versions of each one and when i go into bootloader mode, it recognizes that i did change the binary.
I used odin to flash the recovery mods.
Can't find a way to root without CWM so i can't use apps like ROM Manager or Rashr.
Fastboot from SDK won't recognize my phone so that wasn't an option.
Please help!
Searched far and wide for an answer but still can't boot into CWM nor TWRP.
I love Lollipop and really want it on my tab.
Everything else works fine except this frustration.
