Hi,
I`ve just updated my phone few hours ago and still trying to root.
I googled a lot but with no good ideas
All the tutorial are linked to azuzu kernel downgrade throught flashtool. And I cant use it, because I am on linux.
On 2.1 stock I used psneuter exploid, but it doesnt work on 2.3.3. Also found gingerbreak exploit, but returns error:
Code:
[+] Plain Gingerbread mode!
[+] Found system: 0xafd17ec1 strcmp: 0xafd37b55
[+] Found PT_DYNAMIC of size 232 (29 entries)

[*] vold: 1096 GOT start: 0x00014344 GOT end: 0x00014384
couldn't open output file: Permission denied
[-] Unable to open crashlog file: Permission denied
$
Does anybody know any other methods? If something exists, even untested on x10, please let me know... (or just post a link )
Any help will be highly appreciated !!
Thank you
I also had that problem I could never better rooter downgrade to 2.1 as root and install the xrecovery him and put a room of wolfbreake 2.3 the very good one but also I want the official threads as there are several very good for that version

So far, Android 2.3.3 is unrootable for all devices.
No known root exploits work.
All the phones use the downgrade-root-upgrade method,
not very different to the one we use.
So far, there isn't a phone that came out with 2.3.3 out of the box,
so research for a new root exploit is pretty much dead at the moment.
Thankx My_immortal
So no simple way still... What the hell !
So, (maybe a little OT, but try to ask) is there any possibility to get on X10 GB root from linux? Dont know how azuzu method works in detail...
It is just a flash of a different kernel, isnit it?

Maybe running FlashTool with VirtualBox?
Yes, it's just downgrading to the 2.1 kernel, root, then upgrade to the 2.3.3 kernel.
Ok, thanx a lot Will try to get it working as soon as possible.

did you try installing pauls superboot ? I can't see how this one click method would cause the flashing led issue..
try installing the 6267 boot.img from modaco in the thread you posted there..
a very quick search would tell you how to do it...
easiest way
grab pauls superboot r2 for 4339
copy the boot.img to that folder
delete the superboot.boot.img ( or whatever its called) rename boot.img to exactly the same name as the file you deleted.
go into fastboot on the streak (power on with the camera button down)
make sure it connected.
run the bat or shell file..

nice guide men! =) +10
I already know of at least 1 noobie that got a bit mixed up with these "X10" guides.. I was trying to work out what they were doing wrong trying to flash their mini then I went to the guide they were following (this one ^) and found out they were following it to the letter!! (which ment installing dual touch on a mini!!)
So its not really the best for "Noob's" unless they have a big X10 (not a mini or Pro) or at least something should be added to let them know not to install dual touch
I still don't see why .Sin files are refered to as the "Hard way" I still use the Flash tool I tested for Bin4ry last year when we all updated to 2.1 Nordic... no fancy GUI but simple as, and I have never had a problem flashing my phone.
Still.. nice work (I'm so old skool I didn't even realise there were ftf file's until I read this guide )

Hi,
If you read well you don`t see any dualtouch on mini or mini pro. I can`t be blamed if people get so excited and don`t read can i?
I put that way (hard) because it`s harder. Well not harder but need more stpes to accomplish final result.
And last. From 026 version and next we`re only be able to flash through this type of files(ftf).

Thanks for your work! First, my english isn't very rich so dont blame me if i make some mistakes =S
So i tried to activate JIT after rooting my x10 mini using your flashtool. Everything was right until the reboot. It is said in other forum the reboot would take at least 5min but in my case, it took more than 1hour!!
So now i'm stuck on the SE logo for more than 2 hours (lol). Can anyone help me solving this problem please?

Hey dude, I think you might be trying to flash the X10 firmware on you mini... not a good idea... (as the X10 firmware is way bigger and won't fit on a mini, not that it would work even if it did fit )
I suggest downloading the right version for your phone.. a mini is an E10i/a and a pro is a U20i/a
and @Rendeiro.
Thanks for adding the warning to the top of the Noob guide should save us some headaches until the new version is out and working (then we can work on a mini instruction set.. seems a waste of time re writing it until the new version is released)
you da man!

Hi there all,
I have a strange problem.. Here goes.. I have a galaxy tab p7500 (G3/Wifi) model, and when i first got it i rooted it out of the bos placed cifsmanager on it and downloaden/used cifs_froyo_slow_work.zip on it (it has a pre compiled cifs.ko). All was going well untill my screen broke down.. i got like spots on it (in between the glass and the screen). So i brought the device back to the shop and they fixed it(or it looked like i got a whole new one ) But now it started.. i got the device rooted it and put the cifs.ko on it again.. But as of now cifsmanager is staying 'no such device'. So i thought ok it is kernel related (see site of cifsmanager) so i tried everything.. new rom broodcom from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233328) kernel.. etc. etc.. But still no luck..
I'm getting a little bit grrrrr at the moment because i can't figure out what is wrong/or what i'm doing wrong.. Especially because it went so easy the first time..
Please could somebody push me in the right direction / kernel / rom or something.. thx for the help in advance..

Search "Newton" and "Moisture" under the entire galaxy tab 10.1 forum and you can find out how or why it happens. I don't think there's a fix for it other than getting a new device.
FYI though, its hardware not software.

If you have moved the file inside /data/local/modules successfully and doing insmod /data/local/modules/xxx.ko doesn't work with an "operation not permitted" error, check you have done a "su" first to make sure you are running as root.

new procedures for Rooting
Sony and Sony Tablet Terminal Phone with ICS
Procedure # 1 →
a - download the file (all)
b - rename the file to update.zip 01 or 02 before inserting them in the root SDcard →
c - go into recovery mode (power + volume) and select System Update from SD CARD
d - select the pack just copied and renamed
and - recovery time from temporary select the pack 03 (does not need to be renamed)
f - if everything is ok now when you restart you'll have root
Code:
NB: two packs were included, because in theory if one does not work the other
I recommend that you first use the 01 because that's what should be "eaten" without problems.
In theory only side effects of this procedure should be the lack of flash pack.
Code:
DOWNLOAD PACK CLAIMS OF CONSCIENCE EVER TAKEN A TEST OF EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL.

The folder in mediafire is empty.
Yer there's nout in the folder.
attached files.
it will not work.

what is the source of the files? you have created them?
what version of cwm recov is included? is it correct for S?
or some 'other-device' one?
I was getting excited then
This procedure for all devices sony and samsung. Samsung also works on the tablet now goes head to head Sony Tablet if someone tells me where to go or not. Could go. It does not install the CWM but does only the Root
Has anyone tested this yet?
anybody successed?

Yes, the idea is what counts.
Since when has it been the standard to post un-checked un-verified and non working files here?
Dangerous is what it is. Lucky this is a sony with barely any user base, if this was posted on the galaxy forums there would be hundreds of possibly messed up phones out there...

If any dev here have NDK configured (my damn Internet is to slow to download Eclipse C++ extension) and is willing to spare some time on compiling the exploit, here is the code : https://github.com/hiikezoe/break_setresuid
Cheers

Thanks, you are right. I was so tired yesterday that I misinterpreted the branches.
But I am afraid that it will need some basic modification, as it seem to be written for Xperia.

as far as i have seen, it has some addresses for some phones, but, if the phone doesn't match those, it tries to autodetect the correct address for perf_events proc.
i tried to compile it, but i get some errors that i can't fix..... yet.... (i'm not a prof dev)
if someone can help, please do it... i want root on my unrootable phone: NEC MEDIAS 101T, android 2.3.5 (with perf_events enabled) kernel 2.6.35.7-perf
error at building the code

Hi,
I wanted to test this exploit on my Xperia phone.
I went through the whole progress, but now when I wanted to 'ndk-build' the file, I got an error and have no clue what I did wrong.
Here's what I did:
Code:
[B]/android_run_root_shell#[/B] ndk-build NDK_PROJECT_PATH=. APP_BUILD_SCRIPT=Android.mk
make: /home/<username>/build/core/build-local.mk: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `/home/<username>/build/core/build-local.mk'. Stop.
<username> is my username on the computer ofcourse . I run with privileged rights (root).
Any idea how to fix this? I have no dev skills AT ALL, so I just follow tutorial if I want to try something.
thanx in advance!
