Sorry, but no, it happens because of your hardware, x10 mini Pro camera is very good, but still not enough to capture in HD. Fox example my friend has X10 and its 8.1mP so he spoke me he can capture in HD. Its because of his camera (8.1 )

It's because our phone don't have the power to encode video in HD the camera resolution have nothing to do with video recording.
For example some tablets (xoon) or phones (galaxy R) have 5mp camera and record video in HD.

Sorry for my ignorant answer
VGA 640x480 is the highest possible.
As it has been said before, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro simply don't have enough power to encode video in 720p and higher.
Just an idea... What about saving the raw video stream and encoding it on a pc... (yeah i know it takes a lot of space.)

Not sure what class of sd card you'd need, but the mb/s could still be greater than even class 10 could handle! HD raw is a lot of bits a second.

most probably no
to check just play a 720p(mp4) on arcmedia ,it lags alot
i think it might be possible to record vid on lower framerate(15 or lower)...
Edit1
it has nothing to do with megapixelzz eg:web cams have 2mpx with 720p
For me, X10mini & mini pro is enough powerful to record 720p because many less powerful Samsung or other featured phone can record HD. Also camera does not matter cause iPod touch has a VGA camera which is capable to record 720p at 30FPS. It is just about kernel & camera driver. It is not impossible but may be it is very difficult.

is there any video player which plays 720p videos??
My media player only uses a 400mhz processor and 256mb RAM and can encode HD video from either DVB (already encoded to be fair) or analogue RGB input... However, the processor is geared towards media processing, in fact it was built to do that and that alone, if it was asked to render a simple vga 3D game it would probably output 1fps if anything at all!
Some processors are designed for specific tasks which they can do remarkably well, others are design to do many things but not quite as well. Software does play a mighty big part but it cannot overcome the constraints of the hardware in question.
Maybe other phones with HD recording have an inbuilt subprocessor or utilize functions inherant in Arm 7 but not Arm 6.. it might be possible to emulate the functions but the results might not be great.

ITS very very very difficult
but nothing is imposible
see this:::

I don't think that processing power is the limitation here for higher quality recording. This is what SE used to say for froyo or gb and it's plain crap proven repeatedly.
The problems are:
a) the sensor, i.e. is it capable of higher res. for video recording? 5mpixels are more that enough for 720p (i.e. like the N1) but there's more than the mpixels in the camera sensor to be able to do more.
b) we don't have kernel support for anything more than VGA. And this is sensor specific. If we ever got lucky and another msm7x27 device used this sensor and had better resolution we might have been able to investigate if it's usable.
c) we can't load custom kernels (this stops any other thoughts for the time being).

My friend, by the term "powerful" I meant the processing power too. If it is possible with Omnia HD's 600MHz then it is possible with 600MHz too. I have modded my old Motorola E2 which have a 1.3MPx camera & now I am able to record 720p at 17Fps with that. I just worked with kernel, because E2 runs linux & android is also using linux kernel I think it is possible. I am currently working on that. Let me see If I can prove you wrong

now that we have kernel support.. is HD video recording possible??
Is there any ROM which support 720P video recording on Legend?
I am on Blay0 0.8.4 last several month and only thing which was missed is 720P. Hopefully, if that is possible due hardware isue, Blay0 shall find the way to put it on...let`s say Blay0 0.9 /even I think that is time for 1.0/
I mean, I just cant get how its possible that this phone's stock ROM and kernel have a decent MHL support, and a super customized ROM, like Cm, AOSP, AOKP (wich all of them include awesome tweaking capabilities....) doesn't have it?
I mean, most of the stock parameters appear on files that are editable on Notepad. So, is there any one referred to MHL setup? And so, why don´t you just "paste" it into the root of a custom non-stock ROM to get that feature available?
Today I got an "advance" in my hopeless quest on getting a decent MHL look on my phone (for those who read my older threads...). I recorded my phone screen using Screencast app on a Dead Trigger playing session (wich looks horrible on my HDTV through MHL...). I was expecting that the recording has a decent quality, but due to the S2 hardware capability, I could get an awesome, sharp and smooth looking recording of my game.
The surprise came, when I plugged my computer on the TV. The default output resolution is 1080p, and in the TV, it looks "too" sharp, with a little colour and quality loss. But in windows 7 I can change it, so I did it to 760 (or something like 764) and voilá, suddenly the screen was showing my desktop flawlessly (not losses of any kind), so I decided to watch the recording of the game in my pc through Skydrive... and the results shocked me. The quality was perfect. Super smooth, fast, awesome looking 3d graphics.
Now, thats a progress. A video in 1080p output resolution looks bad through DNLA, and HDMI out (on pc); the same on 764 looked perfect (and both were faaaar too better than the same video on MHL...)
So, it seems that lowering the MHL output to 764 would be a kick up on quality. Will be possible?? Only masters can talk...
Thanks for your time and hope you can bring your light on my research.

Roms like aokp and cm10 can't use mhl because of samsungs proprietary crap, so you need to use a stock based rom if you want mhl.

No, a lack of documentation on how to implement it is what I believe is the reason, I'm not a dev though.

You are right. It is due to the parts being closed source and not part of the AOSP source code. Without this there is nothing the devs can do to make it work.
And exploring the phone's files? Maybe a trial or error test to find the MHL related parameter?

As this is very dependent on the kernel even if you could find the files without the proper kernel source code there is nothing they can do. Until it becomes part of the AOSP code there is little to no hope of it working properly
Now THIS is a progress:
http://mobility.forumsee.com/a/m/s/p12-9400-0110676--aokp-and-hdmi.html
It looks like a solution, just editing the build.prop
some ROM not supported HML as NFC
Actually, I added that line and now my phone is MHL compatible, although its ROM originally wasn't.
But only to play music and videos, nothing more shows on screen.

So, I updated to ICS and wanted to try out webtop on my HDTV via a micro HDMI cable I bought, it gets into webtop just fine but the issue is that it is at 600x800 resolution and I can hardly read the words, the resolution option in display settings is also greyed out so I cannot change the resolution, this also happens with mirror mode, is it a hardware related issue? I'm on the stock pshasiaretail ROM with root access.

Hi ahzhang,
I've notices the same 'issue'. The resolution is far far away from fullhd.
Unfortunatly i think there is nothing we can do about it.

Seriously? I remember seeing on moto's forums that this can output 1080p or 720p, I have also got it to 1080p once, not sure how I got it to work but it was sure damn full hd
I have tried too. I was able to enable the resolution menu and to set full hd 1080p.
But even if the final resolution is 1080p the phone starts with a very low resolution and the interpolates it to 1080p and sends it to the tv.
So I cannot see real 1080p photos or video or webtop.

Ciao Marco
With the Razr/Razr maxx we are in the same situation: webtop 3.0 is locked to max 1280x720. When I select 1920x1080 on my native FullHD 22" (same display I use for my home pc) I got a upscaled 720p->1080p which looks worst than when I select 720p (less blury)
Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801339
Thanks, I will check it now.
I've checked the details tab on a supposedly 720P video and reports correctly that the video is 1280 by 720 however when I access the file from my computer it reports the resolution is 864 by 480. Anyone else experience the same problem?

There's something like six different x201 models so no clue if your device records in 720P or not as you did not say what device you are asking about.
Oh I'm sorry. I got the Omate Truesmart 1GB RAM and 8GB Storage version for the US. Also a non-developer model.
Every Omate firmware, since at least December, records in 720P. You do however have to set your TS to record at 720P.
You need to change it to 720, it doesn't record that way default.

I don't see an option for 720P. I've got the video quality set to Fine and that is coming out 864x480 on the computer.

Could it be a possibility that my smartwatch has out of date firmware? The Custom build version that is on it is "Omate_Truesmart_20140120.154604_V2.0"
Don't do anything with the firmware. It's being looked into, as well as an easy fix. No promises.
OK. So where are the proper channels to check for updates for the truesmart?
If your are referring to a change log and firmware list like most others have. There is none.
Basically hit "check for updates" and hope the OTA server is working or wait til somebody notices their firmware is different than everybody else.
Huh. That's a shame. Even free software developers do that.
I get a ringing when I try and record video. The real sound does come through as well, but the ringing is quite loud and annoying.

Same with my Omate TS 1/8 2100, which came in yesterday. I cannot find any way to change that. Even apps like LG Camera which worked for me on other devices achieve only 864 by 480 as max. resolution. Any ideas are highly appreciated.

Since there are at least 4 different hardware revisions, I wonder if Omate ever will offer OTA updates... I feel being fooled as 720p recording was one of the biggest reasons to get the TrueSmart. And I found no workaround so far to get 720p working on the 1/8 2100 version.
Could anybody post an unedited 720p sample video clip to allow me to judge its quality?
Thanks in advance!

I installed the latest OTA update 2 days ago (without unrooting my watch, but I lost root, and framaroot doesn't work any longer. Though I could reinstall TWRP, I was not able to boot into recovery. So my backups weren't much useful. Finally I flashed an older firmware, with TWRP recovery.img instead of the original one, booted into recovery, and could then restore my backup).
During the time I used the updated version I still had only 480p video resolution. No 3rd party camcorder app could so far get rid of this limit, while some are capable to increase the video bit rate and therefor the video quality.
(A little bit off topic, but may help eventually anyways: MTKdroid tools do not work during folder mount has mounted any folders! Also a USB data connection will only show the external SD card (and this one even not completely) during any folders are mounted. Unmounting folders with folder mount does also not work once a USB connection was established without rebooting the watch. It took me a while to figure that out).
I would appreciate any hints how to increase the video recording resolution up to 720p on the European 1/8 2100 version! Thanks in advance!
