[Q] Google talk authentication failed - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have very annoying problem. Every now and then pop-up appears saying google talk authentication failed. I do not use google talk nor do I wish to. Google talk service is intentionally disabled for my account (i have my own jabber server).
Everything works fine (gmail, market etc) only problem is this annoying popup with notification sound. Could you please help me with getting rid of it? I need to disable it on android side, enabling chat on the account is not an option (other hell breaks loose then)
Thank you very much

"Automatically sign in" is for signing i automatically when the fone starts or when connectivity is established.
it is not like a desktop application since the app is linked to the gmail account on your fone.
alternatively you can choose nimbuzz as an IM client if you dont want to sign in always with the same credentials..
The one thing I was trying to do was make it so it doesn't show that I am always available. No matter if I log out or kill the app it always shows that I am available on gtalk.
Is there a solution to this?
Have you considered meebo or another app instead of using talk? I don't use chat apps but it might do what you are looking for.
I use ebuddy, but that is besides the point.
Here is the thing- since the gtalk is set up with the original google account (the one when you originally set up the phone) it does not let you delete that account off gtalk. But on top of that, no matter what I do i.e. sign out or kill the gtalk app (and even if it shows gtalk is not running), it always shows that I am available and never truly logs me out.
So with the original google account on the phone, I am now always available on gtalk and I can never log out- just really bothers me. Anyone have solution?
Thanks
Looks like the always available is an ongoing problem, I haven't found a solution yet...

Got it so ebuddy is no longer holding my gtalk hostage (I no longer show always available). I used the solution at the end of this forum:

Google Talk voice chat defaults to phone no matter what - super annoying

I use google voice chat on my PC, but I'm also signed in to gtalk on my phone.
Problem is, it always defaults to phone, and keeps complaining "you're not connected to WiFi, so you missed a voice chat request"...
It's incredibly frustrating, because it's too dumb to call the PC/gmail instead.
Beside completely signing off on the phone's gtalk, is there any way to default to gmail for that?
And also in GTalk if you click on Sign Out it actually never Signs Out, that's a very irritating stuff as I only use a single Google a/c for chatting and another for GMail. I'd very much appreciate a way out of this.
Regards.
BUMP...
still a problem.. =(

[Q] Google Web Login Required

I searched around and have not found anyone posting with the same issue but I cannot figure it out.
In the notifications section at the top of my touchpad there is constantly a message from google.
It has the g icon and it says "Google Web login required."
I tried signing in to every google option I could find and even went on to my gmail account through the browser and nothing I do removes this message....
Anyone have any suggestions?
try removing your google account from account settings and readding it.
I've had the same issue and you need to unlock your google account using the captcha. Just google "google captcha" and unlock the account.
you don't have two step authentication enabled on your google account do you?
have the same issue and did the whole unlock thing and still have the issue. And no I do not have 2 step verification nor do I want it. If that is going to be a requirement to use an email client then screw gmail I will go back to just using yahoo which is my main email. What is with google and making things anti user, they have to make everything so convoluted. All yahoo does is similar to what my bank does when I add a new billpay, just sends a confirmation email with a link to disable it if you did not add it. Got that when I added my yahoo email to my touchpad, and it is working fine. But no google has to have their 2 step verification, sorry I do not want that hassle, even if it is just once a month, its complete overkill.
anyway, I just set it to update manual only so I don't get that annoying message every 2 minutes if I keep getting it will just delete the account, still working fine on my android phone.

[Q] Google Play Store granted permission to receive SMS?

Hi,
I just bought my first Android - Samsung Galaxy Note. The only other mobile I have ever owned was a blackberry curve and I never installed a single app on it.
My Question: What reason does Google Play Store 3.5.16 have to require the following permissions?
Your Messages - Receive SMS
Your accounts - Act as account authenticator, manage the accounts list, use the authentication credentials of an account
Phone Calls - Read phone status and ID
The other permissions that it requests I can somewhat understand, but why on earth does it need access to my SMS? My accounts and my phone calls?
Sincerely,
dustfingr
For example, if you browse Google Play on your PC, the process of installing an app onto you phone is simplified by sending the app link to your phone. That's why Google Play requires Receive SMS permissions.
Also I don't know exactly, but maybe it's required for bying apps using SMS and phone calls.

It needs the 2nd permission so that it can use your Google account to access the market. The rest of the things it can do with that permission are just tied into the permission itself and not necessarily used.
The 3rd permission is in order to identify the phone type so that it can link your device to your account and only be able to install apps that are meant to work on it.
As for the SMS permission, I have no idea about that one but it's nothing to do with remote installation or being able to install other apps that require that permission.
Did you try Googling for this info? I'd imagine Google would have more information on this than anyone else.

[Q] [HELP] Not getting push notifications!!!

I followed steps in this thread almost to the letter (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909996) installed Gemini App Manager, BBS, LBE Security and Titanium Backup Pro to freez app. listed in this list (https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html) as SAFE to freez but I must have disabled something I don’t know what but I’m not getting push notifications from gmail app., fb messenger app., etc…. Thankyou, but didn't help. It seems that via mobile data, all that works is the browser, google play and facebook(without push). Gtalk, viber, teamviewer, mail, and any other push notifications just won't work.
Reedit: SOLVED!. After/before installing the FIX, Users should also check the access points used for internet service. My service provider has 3 access pint: Net, MMs, Wap. MMS was initialy selected, through that service, push and other servers are unavailable.
